The Ancients/Alterans/Atlantians

Right.

just been watching sg1 season 9

and this is just confusing me, hoping someone could explain, or just see if im not the only one that doesnt get this,

The Alterans left their home galaxy due to the opression of the ori, who beieved that they should be worshiped because of their abilities as ascended beings.

however at thetim ethey eft the alterans werent ascended beings. instead they came to the milkyway and thrived for thousends of years, and spawned life all over the galaxy, at some stage thet built atlantis and decided to leave to a new galaxy, the pegasus galaxy, whilst there they let rise to the species known as the wraith, who basically kicked their behinds, the surviving ancients fled back to the milkyway.

possibly now or maybe before, the ancients suffered from a plague which wiped them out (allegedly) now, some ascended and others just died off.

is this right? and where exactly does teh plague fit in? was it before or after they moved to the pegasus galaxy?

also the thing i dont get, from the impression i got the Ori werent ascended when the alterans left, so, why would their beliefs cause this much of an issue, as they werent ascended therefore wouldnt be able to boast there power over the lower planes, unless the ori were the first to ascend? and this is what lead the alterans to study ascension.

Also, the ori have stargates (Porticle of light) in ark of truth its when the alterans left that you see this person "invent" the stargate, so how did they get them? and if its using teh knowledge they gained when they ascended surely there is a better way to do this? And also why are they using rings? when thye have the ability to create something like the asgard beams which do not require the ring platforms.

OR is it simply with the last parts that im just reading to much into it and this was just used to associate the ori and the ancients?

Any help sorting this out would be great as its doing my head in!

P.S I also apologise for any mispelling that may be present in this post, im currently on my tablet, and they keyboard is shockingly bad.

This is my take on it all:


1:Ancients/Ori Start as the same race in the Same Galaxy (Sort of like us here on earth, some feel one way while others fee different)
2:Lanteeians (Dont know if that is the Proper way to spell it) Leave their First Galaxy (Ori Galaxy from hense on)
3: Ancients Come to Milky Way Galaxy (No indication that i have seen says they went to the Pegasus Galaxy first) This is where the history of the Ori until Current is unknown other than the fact they ascended at the same time as the Lanteans (will be mentioned later)
4pread Star Gates through out the Milky way (This note is made taking the different Appearance and Styles of the Gates between the two Galaxies)
5:Ori (Someone unknown exactly who) Creates a Virus that nearly Kills The Ancients they leave to the Pegasus Galaxy
6:Ancients give birth to Human Life in the Pegasus galaxy thus in turn Spawning the Wrath
7:Ancients and Wrath go to war last thousands of years
8:Ancients leave Pegasus Galaxy for Milky way (if one uses the Ep in Atlantis where they find the older Weir than they Set the Fail safes that keep the city hidden from the rest of History)
9:While back in the Milky way Galaxy (presumed all Ancients and Ori) Sometime discover Ascension and Ascend.
10:From this time on the Ancients Take a rather forceful backseat to the Rest of SG History.

that you for researchign and stuff but it hasnt really answered what i was trying to get at (I realised i babbled a tad, im a little tired heh)

Basically, the flaw i see is it is established that the ancients (Aka Alterans and later known as Atlanteans) leave the ori galaxy (Their home galaxy) because they want to escape persecution at teh hands of the Ori. Because the Ori feel they should be revered as gods due to their power.

but that doesnt follow as it was many thousands of years before the ancients learned to ascend and from what we know just as long before the ori ascend.

Also, was it established that the ori were responsible for the Ancient plague? it might be but i thoguht id remember somethign that big.

Also, the Ancients left for the pegasus galaxy after living and spawnign life in the milkyway. In the first episode of atlantis we see The City leaving a planet (We presume to be earth) leaving behind the womand seen in season 6 (The one that was frozen and comes back to life, and infects everyone with the plague) which apon reflection answers one of my questions about when the plague actually happened.

Perhaps this might shed a little more light:

Millions of years ago, the first evolution of humanity, the Alterans (from altera, Latin: the other(s)), lived in a distant galaxy along the evolutionary path to ascension. At the time, those who were later to be known as the Ori and the Ancients were not distinguished from each other, and lived in one society. However, a philosophical division emerged. The Ori grew more and more fervent in their religious belief, while the Ancients adopted a more scientific/rational outlook. Ultimately, their viewpoints diverged so much that the two groups split apart and began to oppose each other, culminating in the Ori attempting to destroy the Ancients. With the Ori massing their armies, a scientist named Amelius wished to use a device called the Ark of Truth to stop the Ori's rampage. But the others refused to strip away free will and left the device in the city of Ortus Mallum. Instead of going to war, the Ancients decided to leave their galaxy, and began searching for a new home.[2]

And about the plague is is assumed do to the many similarities between that and the one released by the Priors.

yeah i stumbled across a staragte wiki whilst dong some "other work" and it uncovered the division.

although im still at a loss as to when this was shown :/ i must have missed it.

I also had edited my previous post but by the time i got to hit the "save changes" button it was too late.

Also, not sure if either of us have mentioned this.

But the Ancients left the mily way in order to escape the plague. and its unlikely to be ori related as the Ori didnt know about the milky way until Daniel Jackson went their. apparently the plague was "uncovered" whilst they created a city called Vis Uban.
