Hi,

I have just updated a model i made, Yes... Its a fed ship iu apologise in advance.

I have the model, and the texture, but for some reason the program i use to texture keeps adding these random "Ghost" polys. They can be selected, but dont show up on the texture screen, and generally get in the way and annoy me. thusly making it impossible to properly texture this model.

As im still new to this textureing malarky, i wonder is there a person out there who can help me?

also, im on the look out for a "silver" texture (chrome will do)

First thing you probably want to check is to see if all your verticies are welded together. If for some reason you have two or more verts stacked on top of each other that can give you polygons that wont even be noticed.

aha ill look into that. thanks LT

EDIT

Ive played about with it a little, but i find that when i do successfully weld vertecies it ireprably deforms the model :/ only a little but enough to either make a poly disappear or to bend edges any advice??

(good bit would probably be "Dont use wings 3d anymore!"

I use MS3D and snap verts together, it makes the model look much better (no gaps).

Do you have MS3D? Have you tried texturing with it? I have only started to learn texturing models, I can make the textures myself but I am learning to do the actual texturing.

My suggestion if you haven't already is to give MS3D a go. If you are still having some trouble afterwards and no one with more experience has offered to help I will attempt to give it a go for you.

Looks to me like those sections just weren't selected when you went to apply the texture.

this is the problem LT, i cant select them, as they dont really exist.

I take the model into MS3d and they arent there, not even counted into the poly count, where as in wings, they are! its insane

I don't know what to say mate. :| That looks perplexing to say the least, if you'd like, and if you're ok with it, I could take a look at the model and try to see if it's a fixable problem in MS3D?
