Hey Hey

This time I come with something different.
Its a nice model that I was working on the past weeks.

but this time its not for any game, because its a paper model.
I found it in the internet and all i had to do is print it, cut it out and then glue it by following the instructions.

Now you might think "oh wow a paper model, thats not the quality that Im looking for" but i think thats wrong. The quality is indeed very good and therefore its pretty difficult to build.
Ive done several paper models when I was younger, most of them ive drawn by myself, but ive never build any paper model that complex. So it was a challenge and I had to learn a few things. thats why the result isnt perfect.

For anyone who is interested in building this too, ask Majest, if Im allowed to post a link, or just search through the internet.

But I have some tips for you:
using normal paper works in most cases. and some parts are that small that you cant use carton because its to thick.
However you definitely need carton for the inner skeleton and for the main saucer parts (those giant rings), otherwise youll have a bumpy saucer.
(I had to reopen it to fix that problem, what was very hard to do)

As carton I used drawing board, which is simply thick white paper. and white is good in this case, because the hull is very bright.

Another tip here: you might darken the parts before you print them.

And always use a sharp knife to cut the parts out. for round parts its also good to use nail scissors.

Im not a fan of the instuctions though. there are some parts where you dont know the correct orientation and then you have to look for photos in the internet.
Some parts also have wrong numbers, but its not too difficult to find out whats meant.
The model parts are good but sometimes too difficult to create. I believe that there is some room for improvement without lowering the quality.
But overall I liked it very well.

Finally some pictures of my ship:

So why do I tell you about this?
In my opinion its just great that one can build his own starship for free.
And the quality is good.

You never cease to amaze and surprise me with the things you share with us. I have styrene kits which were not nearly as good as this. Plus one cannot beat the price! lol!

Yeah! I am more at ease with styrene kits but excellent work for a paper model!
I also made an 'Abramsverse' starship, the U.S.S. Kelvin NCC-0514 but in styrene.

Only Fahres's Enterprise is made with paper. The Kelvin is made with sheets of styrene. ;)

Somehow i dont know anything about styrene kits, but the result looks very good. And it was nice to see the progress, very interesting and slightly comparable to the paper model.

Yes it is!

Here is the proof:

I don't think it was a kit, I belive it was crafted from plastic card using templates like yours.

Papercraft is the best :)
Once I built a Millenium Falcon, but my little broter later sat on it and it was done for :(

Anyway, if you're interested in paper models, this site could be useful:

You're right Starfox. The Kelvin is a scratchbuilt model. She is fitted with only two true kit parts : the navigational deflector and the hangar bay are from an Enterprise-A kit.

Wow. Now that's why 'Made in Germany' is a good example for quality!

Gute Arbeit!

I'll agree with you there, German quality is renown as real quality even here in Aust. A lot of people try to get German builders for their houses. :)

Oh nice, then your model is real art. Thats definitely more difficult than that paper model and it looks better :)

Oh thats too bad, but that would have also meant the end for a plastic model...
