Well I started on some concept work.

Right now I just have a 2d top view done. Once I finish the side view I'll start to do some 3d modeling.

My goal is to merge elements from the Sovereign, Prometheus, and Steamrunner classes.

I don't really see the resemblance between the two but I do like the design.

You don't see many original looking trek ships.

true. Yours is significantly different. The only resemblance I see now is the nacelles which are more towards the middle, and the oblong saucer section.

I can't wait to see more views.

That looks interesting. Does anybody know whether non-North-American participants are allowed? (You'd expect that, but Cryptic is a US company, those tend to be America-centric...)

I hope so, other wise that will throw me out the airlock rather quickly. On the 9th of December the contest rules are to be posted and announced, I am sure we'll find out then.

I am NOT saying the following in an attempt to discourage anyone nor am I saying it as a comment on anything else posted here. Just so we're clear. This is a statement of my opinion without prejudice towards anyone else and their ideas.

To my mind, there simply is no contest. The next two Enterprises, in my mind, are both DJ Curtis designs. The Century and Eclipse classes are simply too beautiful for STO, and as such, they can go their way with their timeline, and I'll go my way with mine.

Again, the previous is simply my personal viewpoint, and not directed at anyone or their ideas of what an Enterprise should or should not be. I think it'll be kind of nice to get new design concepts out of the woodwork as a result of this contest. Maybe some of them will find their way into my A2 build eventually. Plenty of letters left in the alphabet.

@STK I agree, many of my favourite designs are too pretty for STO. I absolutely love the Eclipse but not a fan of the Century personally.

@RJB, could I make a suggestion? Have you thought about modernising the nacelles a little? Too me they look a little too much like the Excelsior class. It's just my opinion though and ultimately it's your design and your way or the highway so to speak.

Since this is just a concept drawing I'll be doing some playing around when I do the 3d modeling and the nacelles will most likely end up being more of the sovereign style.
