A little something I am working on:
The United Earth Star Navy Scimitar class. A design by Masao Okazaki of The Starfleet Museum - A Report by Masao Okazaki

It is classified as a cruiser and has three twin laser turrets.

Needless to say, it is a pre-TOS design ;). The turrets still need texturing and the ship needs a name.
I tend to christen her "CHM-105, UESN Kursk".

I plan on releasing it for both Star Trek Armada II and Homeworld 2 (as well as the ms3d and 3ds files). In the HW2 version, the turrets will be fully functional.

Great design. Let's just hope she don't meet the same fate as the infamous submarine Kursk. :)

Very nice, do you plan to put an aztec pattern behind the textures.

Aw man, I love Masao's work. I've been a fan of the Starfleet Museum ever since I discovered it. Time to get some of its content... uh, exhibits for A2.

Thank you all!

Well, I had that Oscar-III sub in mind as well, but there is also a Russian city called Kursk (which the sub was named after).

Indeed I do. It is still a WIP, so improvements will be made. :)

Very nice. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the Museum stuff, but this one looks good. Nice job:thumbsup:

I bet you are :)

The mesh and texture is ready! I added some minor details and the only thing left to do is the lightmapping for HW2, but I will do that when I start to make it space-worthy for that game.

For now I will convert it to A2 and release it as soon as I have it ready.

nicce! I think the buzzard collecters coloring could use a bit of work, but other than that, the ship is magnificent.

Looking pretty cool. I don't know why but I love the pre-fed ships, they're so primitive. I love the idea of primitive earth technology facing off against advanced aliens lol.

Looks nice! I'm starting to become a fan of SFM myself as I'm working more and more on Pre-TOS models. :D

Something else: the Comet class starship.

I just finished building the general mesh, now on to textures.

The ship featuring fins on the warp nacelles is a refit version. I would like to texture her like the ENT-style Daedalus class. Maybe Jetfreak allows me to use his ENT Deadalsu textures (would make the job a lot easier).

Great work Intrepid, great to see you back modelling a bit again.

Oh and if those are the textures from the Daedalus that Jet and I released here, the port from Legacy, just make sure you also credit the creators of Legacy for them, as it was a port after all. ;)

Hello:
The concept is very interesting, and since we have seen the Daedalus and the future Olympic Class, I guess the Federation needed another ship with a sphere instead of a saucer. And the refit mesh looks nicer with the fins.

Keep it up!

the Romulan war era ship looks good and even the Comet is great work but i don't like the refit, those fins don't fit

I converted the Scimitar to SOD a while ago, but I am having trouble with the shading.
attachment.php

You can see the errors right behind the dark sensor dome on the bow and on the forward parts of the warp nacelles. Also there's a notable difference of the side and top sections, which are not caused by the texture. I had to "cut" off the top/bottom sections of the cylinder there to texture the ship...

Any ideas how to solve this?

Have you tried unwelding the ship and adding the !lambert tag to the texture. I found that usually gets rid of shading issues. If that doesn't work it could be caused by a face or two facing the wrong way. If built in MS3D, it's very possible. I have found 1.8.4 to be rather buggy in that regard.

hope you didn't export the model to 3ds-format before exporting to SOD as 3ds destroys the welding and you have to reweld the vertexes on those lines, where you have the shading errors.

The ventral turret in Masao Okazaki's drawing of the Scimitar, found in the image titled Ocean Lineage, is a duplicate of the ventral turret on the Conqueror Cruiser. The ventral turret on the Conqueror Cruiser is named an Ultra Zeus II Megalaser Cannon and can be seen in Masao's drawing to be a one barrel turret. Is there any reason why you drew it as a twin turret-mounted pulse laser cannon?

As a side note, the Ultra Zeus Megalaser first appeared on the Farragut Fleet Monitor.

I really like the work you did on this! It compliments the original drawing very well.
