• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

That maybe my friend I just post that official statement.

For myself I'm not a fan of Discovery at all .

I enjoy it, not as a Trek series just as a sci-fi series, It's how I looked at it from the get go. NuTrek since the Kelvin stuff has really sucked. Lower Decks is the only one I really enjoy as Trek.

I like Picard "From my old mans/old officer prospective " and love Lower Decks and have hope for Strange new worlds. As to Kelvin stuff I'm neutral I could take it or leave it.

But when it comes to Discovery I'm not a fan at all ... They went to far Star trek is about inclusion of all but they have over done the wokeness to the point of Force feeding it. which makes it not relatable to me or to the core viewership for that mater.

I wasn't a fan of Picard tbh. It wasn't really that good to me. If not for the returning actors it would've flopped massively imo.
I think if he was on a Starfleet ship and had more of a TNG/VOY feel to it, rather than the dark BSG feel it had it would've been better. Rather than drawing on Trek's strengths most of this NuTrek is like trying to be too much like Star Wars and the like.

I have a love-hate relation with the Picard series. I love several things about it (the fact that it finally moves forward instead of rewritting the old history, the new ships, the Romulans etc.) But in the mean time I loathe that this is clearly a series made by old people for old people. Because according to Picard the future sucks. For everybody. It sucks for the Rommies, for Picard, for all of his friends. It's sucks for the Federation, it sucks for democracy (not to mention the totally unnecessary but apparently mandatory LMBTQ+ subplot).
I get it, it's hard to remain joyful and happy if you're getting old, but I feel like the series kills everything that made Star Trek lovable. That it was a bright and fun show full of lovable and HAPPY people. Heck, even the villains like Dukat, Weyoun, even the frikkin Borg Queen had their happy moments!
The Federation and Starfleet, once a paragon of high principles is now a cruel and amoral organization. Everyone's past is full of tragedies and they all became bitter old men, starting from Picard thorugh Riker to Seven. Nobody is happy in the Picardverse, and after sharing so many laughter and joy aboard the Enterprise, on DS9 and Voyager, this is really depressing. It's difficult to say, but currently I prefer the future of the galaxy pictured in STO over Picard....

The biggest problem with Discovery in seasons 1-3 was the combat oriented undertones. I don't have a problem with combat in Star Trek. Loved the Dominion War arc in DS9. It just seemed with Discovery, iy was going to be all combat all the time. I just got done watching 4.2 and so far, I am loving the return to a more science undertone. Thus is leaving me cautiously optimistic about the rest of the season.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. This is exactly how I feel about it. I've only watch the season/series once when it aired as I already had Amazon Prime for the Expanse and a few other shows like Man in the High Castle. I have actually watched DISCO season 1 twice, season 2 twice in comparison. I never got to watch season 3 twice due to them removing it from Netflix though it's coming back for some countries today/tomorrow depending on if they mean that the 26th is US time or Aus time. But my point being is Picard is my least favourite Trek series, I put the Animated series from the 80's over it in terms of enjoyment.
