Not sure if the names been taken, IMO it sounds good so it probably has.

This is a miniture side project of mine, Basically a learning tool, as i plan on texturing it HP it and release it! (with any luck)

It started life as a modified Sovvy, basically the standard sovvy with 4 Nacelles.

I have recently started again and the only stock thing is the Saucer as i cant make a decent one for love nor money.

It all started as i looked back over the series (well the ones id seen) and i realised i hadnt seen a modern take on the old constelation design, with the exception of probably the prometheus, but it still wasnt close enough.

So, I cobbled together a combination of the Soverign, Constelation and Akira Class, Just want to see what you all think before i continue. Its weighing in at about 2000 polys, which feels too much to me, do you agree?

Regards,
Jeddy

2000 polys? well that depends, if its a battleship. i say 2000 polys is good. anything else it might be just a little high. not by much though.

i LOVE the design! i hope you release this Jeddy, i want to use it :)

Good work man.

thanks guys, what im gna do is either use the stock a2 texture for the Sovy, or attempt my own derived from it, wish me luck! lol.

also, on another note, ive thrown togetehr a nebula-cantaur-soverign compination. looks rather good, but first! the Aurora!

Looks fairly nice, not too sure about all them large(ish) nacelles though.

Reminds me of a ship that was in Borg Incursion, though I can't for the live of me remember the name of it. The Nakota Class I think, though I could be wrong...

they are the same size as a stanard sovvy, im thinkign scaling wise this ship will be about 200m shorter (in length) than a sovvy.

Or do u mean large(ish) relative to the rest of the model?

i apologise for the double post, but here are a few other models, they are pretty easy to throw together, and i have little time to learn to texture at the moment, so meh, lol.

I aim to make the all avaliable when i have worked out how to texture them! (and Get ms3d, and Hp etc etc etc)

Those are pretty cool. I don't think 2000 poly count is to high. Would not suggest going above it though. On a side note of the quad-nac. designs. I like the Aurora class more than the Orion. Looks better and seems more stable of a design. Just my opinion though. Keep up the great work.

thanks!

and the orion was by request of Knight, He thoguht a more "constelationy" one would look good. Personally im not a fan of the "vindicator" but meh i wanted a big uber-ship-of-doom

As for witchhead, i liked the name, for those who dont know its an Andromeda refference. but i might change it its a little too "off the wall"

Wheller, seriously try it, I use wings 3d which is probably the most basic modeller out there.

anyway thanks again i look forward to being able to post some finished articles!

EDIT

just realised thats the first attempt at the Orion, i have a different, better one.

I think what gets to me about it is most of the ship is sleek but the back end is alittle to squared off. Like I said. Its only my opion. It is still a wonderful job.

While all the designs are great, I really like the one marked "Orion" it looks like a late TNG era constellation class, it looks like it could tie in with return to exploration that is depicted in the Titan books. that all said great work.

I am not knocking the design. I liked the Stargazer. It was a cool ship. Just like all the work you put into them is great. Just giving a few suggestions. The suggestions might or might not work. Jus thought I would offer them. I used to do concept designs for Syf on the Federations project. None of them were ment for gameplay. They were there for ideas on ship designs. Many concepts from them are incorporated into many ships that were done for Federations.

Actually I believe there may be a real life witchhead nebula.

The design look great, especially the Constellation and Excelsior look a likes. When coming to texture it you should try and looking for some good SFC3 textures over at battleclinic as a texture makes or breaks a design and I would hate to see poor textures on these babies.

Yes there is, quote from Wikipedia:

IC 2118 (also known as Witch Head Nebula due to its shape), is believed to be an ancient supernova remnant or gas cloud illuminated by nearby supergiant Rigel in Orion. It lies in the Eridanus constellation, about 1000 light-years from Earth. The nature of the dust particles, reflecting blue light better than red, is a factor in giving the Witch Head its blue color.

I was going to use modified stock textures, but i guess thats what you mean!

Yes there is, quote from Wikipedia:

Ah good! i mean i thought i had heard of it in "the real world" and i was trying to get them all to have names relating to theship the design was most based on.

Orion being a constelation
Witchhead being a nebula
to be honest i dont know about aurora i think i just liked the name!

anyway thanks for all of your in put, and ill look out those textures asap!

If you've got the first two Jeddy the last one will be a breeze after some time. I can't do the first two but have hardpointing down pretty good. Like everything it takes time. ;)
