• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hi there!

I have built several ships that will be released for Armada 2. I am not yet sure in what way, but right now it looks like a mini-mod.

The ships are inspired by an old space combat/trade sim called "X - Beyond The Frontier".

Here they are:


And a ship from the so called "Terraformers" (machines that rebelled against their makers... HEY! That sounds familiar :lol:)

I am working on more! :D Work is going quite fast. All odfs of the shown ships (plus a few more) are done, I'll be working on the weapon odfs next.
All ships will come with unique weapons and weapon textures.
Please note that nearly all ships feature engine glows.

Sorry for the double post...

More stuff:



First one is an NPC pirate ship and the other one a simple cargo megafreighter. Both are in-game already including glows (a menacing RED for the pirate and standard blue for the cargo freighter)

Funnily enough it was a similar sort of game I was making my next mod around but it didn't fit the Armada 2 engine particularly well, so I dropped it.

No ship is above 2000 polygons, most even under 1500, which basically means that they can be mass produced.

An another note I'd like to announce, that you need the Unofficial Star Trek Armada II Patch Project [EXE] (1.2.5).

It does give some good-opportunities and I can tell you that these will be used in the release;
including:
- modular base
- seperation (for fighter launch used)
- maximum build numbers etc

Most mods are introducting the FlOps Patch to mods I am doing it myself.

I must say those ships have really impressed me, not just the poly count, I know you can produce quality low poly designs from the work you've done wih PAR, it's just the designs look awesome. I just wish I could model better than I can at the moment, I would finish the PK and COL for PAR myself along with any models I need for the MSFC Mod as well as do some off to the side modelling.

Even one of the larger ships I am currently building has a reasonable polycount (at 1136 ATM, though it still needs detail on the bow and stern sections).

It is the counterpart for the Alliance class command ship shown above. I will release a further side, which is basically the private army of a megacorporation. I will show it off when it is fully textured.


Something else I want to say:
This upcoming release consists of many ships I once built but that were never shown or released by me. I think it does contain some good material and designs and I want to have it as a broad presentation of designs and meshes by me as well as of meshes based on designs of different computer games, movies TV shows. I just don't want to loosely release the ships and stations so I put it all together into 3 races plus some NPCs: United Space Command/Earth Defence Forces, Terraformers (though this can definately change, I only have one design and I found myself not liking the overall idea of it) and the yet unnamed Megacorpoation as well as some space pirates that lure around and replacements for the Ferengi stuff. It could be that I incorporate a side from the old MSC mod, that would then be the Soviet Federation (not-Earth-bound), as I also think that a good part of the American designes needs definite reimagination, while I think my Soviet designs are something that is very independent from any other design line I have seen.

I'd like to hear some thoughts about it...

This sounds really interesting, if I could model I would make my own completely new race. This would also allow some mods that want new races in their game to have a completely new and original race rather than one done 100 times over. :thumbsup:

I gave her the name "Corporate Defender class Command Ship"

Here the is Corporate Defender in-game:




The textures need to be darkened, though I must first see another ship with the same texture maps in-game and then I can decide how much darker it will be.
And I need to experiment with the light-setup of the maps. Unfortunately most maps are quite bright, whilst the maps that I will deliver with or additionally to the release will be darker.
