For a long time I have been slowly chiping away at a 3 way Race mod based on this website.
The Starfleet Museum - A Report by Masao Okazaki
I already have a thread up on A2 FF so this first post will replicate alot of the information already posted over there. With my current time constaints and skill set this will still take some time as their are about 2 dozen ships I still need to find or make not to mention some stations so this is not a release post. What I'm doing here is trying to drum up some balance ideas for my Klingons and Romulans.
With out coping the whole site here the crux of the problem is that both the Klingons and Romulans are really low tech compaired to the Feds early on. Of course things are more complex than that but thats the short of it.
Ship wise The Feds are getting just the ships on the sight up to about 2270. The Klingons and Romulans will get the on sight ships plus matching Destroyers I have yet to get finished.
Station wise the setup will be different then stock. Everyone will get an early/Base station, a Battlestation, 1 or 2 research stations, what ever yards are needed for their fleet list and a Sector HQ Base. The Base, Battle, and HQ stations will serve as trade, resorce, and repair points and my build fighters fore base defence if that race has any fighters. Yards won't be able to do repairs but I may add an FRD to each race.
The research list doesn't need to be over long or complex but I do think that the time involved needs to be quite high as most of the items will be imulating the passage of time in some way.
Overall balance will not be to stock. The races will only be balanced against each other so that give me some room to work.
One more thing; as far as the Museum is conserned Enterprise never happened. So any ideas, segestions, or questions?
I'm building up from the bones of Ch'Yu Chen's Romulan War Demo. Romulan War Mod Demo 0.5b Mod Download, Star Trek: Armada 2 Mods He gave me permision to use everything he did there and Terradyhne has lent his permissions as well has passed along a couple more ships.
The Fed fleet post war however was in need of an overhaul and there where no Klingons included. Since then I have managed to get just about every combat ship from the site. I'm still converting things right now so alot of ships still have yet to be intergrated.
Unsurprisingly Fed combat hulls are fairly abundent even for this timeline. It's the Klingon and Romulan fleets in need of combatants. I have all my cruisers lined up. I just have to get them all converted and in game. Lighter combatants and freighters are mainly what I'm hunting though some period Klingon and Romulan fighters would be nice too. I'll also have to run down period shuttles because all the early ships lack transporters.
I'm working on bashing out some DDs for the Klingons and Romulans. The thought process is to show the development of what eventualy became the Klingon Bird of Prey. I don't really have a design thought proces for the Romulan DD yet.
I also have some informational requests. The first is about registries. I know that alot of people prefer to leave them off Fed ships but to me the texture seems empty in placeses without them so I need to change or add them in some cases. In the absents of blank textures what is the best way to remove them from a texture.
The second is about Damage meshes. What is the node setup for useing them and which nodes can I use?
Thirdly Cpt.BenSisko brought up a good point about fed bussard caps and I wonder what the rest of you think. Should I alternate between red and christmas light versions?
Also Could someone turn on the attachments function for me so I can add pics please.
