Journey to the End of Knight

Right, no spoilers, i'm not going to give anything away - if you want to know what happens, go watch the episode lol.

What i will say however is that this episode IS Knight Rider. IMO, the first episode struggled, it wasn't as good as it should have been. The second episode was much much better, and far truer to the original Knight Rider. The plot worked, the story flowed through from beginning to end, nice development of the car, and of its relationship with its human counterpart(s), and nice little "shadows" of the original series, little nods to the original.

This episode needed to show how good the show could be, and it succeeded, it was a vast improvement over both the pilot movie and the first episode.
If you liked the original Knight Rider, you'll like this episode.

Knight Rider gets full season:
Full season for Knight Rider : TV Tonight
"NBC has now picked up Knight Rider for a full season.

The network has ordered another nine episodes of the action-drama, following an earlier thumbs up for four more, which is good news for Seven.

Knight Rider’s pickup is the first of NBC’s new fall series to receive a full season order, joining CBS’ The Mentalist, Fox’s Fringe and CW’s 90210 -two of which are already struggling in Oz.

In the US its most recent episode was seen by 6.9 million viewers.

The telemovie managed 902,000 viewers when it premiered here on Seven. But Seven has yet to announce a series date, despite promising it would air in October.

Peter Cullen Returns!

Recent news: While the show has NOT been cancelled, the season order was reduced from 22 to 17 following the week off taken for the Obama speech - this week off cost the show 2 million viewers, hence the reduction. The shows producer insists that its not been cancelled however, and that the best of the season is yet to come.

However, the most recent, and perhaps best news is that Peter Cullen has agreed to reprise his role from "Trust doesnt Rust" in the original series as the voice of KARR.

Looks like KARR has been changed considerably since he was last seen (in pieces, with only his CPU still functioning at the end of KITT vs KARR), and I have to wonder how they're going to explain it, but the return of Cullen suggests that it is the same KARR from the original - albeit it now with a transform mode - though I guess playing a giant robot that turns into a vehicle is nothing new for Cullen

Knight to King's Pawn

Ultimately, all I can say about this episode was that it was a big let down. With the two parter that preceded it, the show finally seemed to be finding itself and improving... and then we had this episode. What little advertising NBC bothered to do, focused on the return of KARR, only for it to be a huge letdown when KARR was only seen for about 5 minutes, and was ultimately beaten by KITT in 2.

This episode had the potential to be great, but they under utilised Karr, and didn't reveal any of the back story - is he a completely new KARR that for some reason has the same name as his predecessor, or is it the same Karr retooled for military use following destruction in the original? Its never covered or revealed. They showed an amazing lack of understanding and stupidity with having some kid able to download part of KITT onto his Xbox when KITT backs himself up to the internet. Xbox just doesnt work that way for getting updates.
There were good parts to the episode. I enjoyed Mike using non-lethal weapons to whup US soldiers when trying to recover KITT (bean bag shotguns, rubber ball grenade launchers... very fun sequence). I love that Peter Cullen voiced KARR once again, and I'm glad that they finally did a turbo boost in the 'normal' mode of the car, and that ski mode has returned.

To really do this episode justice, it should have been a two parter, and they should have utilised KARR more. Unfortunately for fans of the show, Gary Scott Thomas doesn't really seem to know what he's doing with the series. The movie in february produced by David Andron, was clear, it was a continuation of the series. Since being picked up for a series and given to GST, its as much a remake as a sequel due to lack of attention to details. There have been references to Mike's father originally being Michael Long, references to Devon, Bonnie and now Wilton Knight and FLAG which indicate its a continuation, and yet there are little slips, like Charles acting like KI3T is the only AI he's built, after claiming to be responsible for the original KITT in the February movie.

Its not been the worst episode of the series (that honour is reserved for 'Knight in Shining Armour') and it indicates a return to the Knight Rider roots (as it should, being the last of the three 'reboot' episodes), but it seems badly mishandled and unfinished.

I don't hate the series, I actually like it and want it to succeed, and i abhor the fans that think the only way to make it succeed is to bring back the original Michael Knight and KITT on a fulltime basis - i would like to see them back one last time, but not as series regulars, its unnecessary. But so far the quality has just been too hit and miss, and I hate the lack of reasoning/explanation and a lack of real character development behind KARR (when theyve been hinting as far back as the 5th episode that KARR would be appearing) as the original KARR was one of my favourite characters.

I'm resigned to this show getting cancelled. After this episode, I've given up any hope there'll be a second season, though I still wish for one, just to see if they can pull it back with a clear sense of direction. Here's hoping the last 5 episodes of season 1 are goodies.

Been a while since I updated... At the time of my last update, i'd given up on this series, and just decided to watch what remained in resignation.

What a turn around.

Exit Light Enter Knight
Mike stumbles into a bank robbery things, but while trying to stop it, things go badly and he ends up being a hostage himself and unable to communicate with KITT. But theres more to the situation than meets the eye, and Mike ends up involved with a bigger scheme than a simple robbery.

The first episode following the mid season reboot, and what a difference they've made. More focus on Mike and KITT, less of a focus on the supporting team, and nice nods to episodes involving KITT interacting with children. No transformations, just the Mustang doing all the things that KITT should. Fantastic episode, a real turn around for the series, and following recent events in KR, the threat to Mike's life seemed much more legitimate. A new beginning and a return to what Knight Rider should be. Its back. no more needs to be said.

Fight Knight

Mike and KITT are asked for help by one of Mikes old army buddies to investigate the death of drill sergeant Jack Burber. They discover that Jack was part of a fight club, which spurs Mike into joining the club to find out what happened.

Another true Knight Rider story, Mike and KITT on their own without much backup. A little more violent than the original Knight Rider, but the story was easily something that the original could have done, Mike in trouble with the law, Mike getting in over his head, and the return of crooked local sheriffs!
the only downside is the return of the transformations, but still a fantastic episode, on full form!

Fly by Knight

Mike investigates a case of a plane crash and discovers that the crash was faked. The plane was carrying a federal witness, a 10 year old boy who witnessed the killing of his father. While trying to help, Mike ends up getting arrested by the investigating DEA. Unable to convince them he's trying to help, Mike realizes that it is up to him to find the missing witness before he is killed. Meanwhile, Sarah tries to secure the future and independence of the SSC, paving the return of the Foundation for Law and Government.

While it had some flaws (more transformations, KITT using gatling guns to scare the bad guys, but remaining true to his programming by NOT harming a human life), this was another good episode, again in the trend of the original series. Mike arrested, KITT escaping from a tow truck taking him to police impound, the kid and his mother in danger... fantastic. And also keeps the show in real time, with Mike referring to his mothers death "a year ago". Mikes mother died in the pilot movie last february. excellent.

Knight Rider is back. Finally. This is what the show should always have been. Given that viewers jumped up 22% following the reboot, the future of the show looks good, although there is still a support campaign running. The show has finally found its feet, and deserves a chance to run with that now into a second season. The last few episodes convinced me after i'd given up on the show. hopefully they'll convince you too.

To show support, please sign the campaign for a second season: second season campaign . knight rider 2008 . knight rider online

Tonight is the season finale of the new Knight Rider. NBC give the following plot summary

STRONGER THAN IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE--Mike (Justin Bruening) and KITT (voiced by Val Kilmer) are trying to track down a stolen serum that maximizes the recipient's physicality before it gets into the wrong hands. With the help of the lab's research assistant, Billy (Paul Campbell) learns some information about the serum that will help Mike when he takes on the now powerful thief. Meanwhile, Sarah (Deanna Russo) is overwhelmed with her new duties and quickly learns how much work it will take to reinstitute the Foundation for Law and Government.

Don't forget to tune in tonight at 8/7c!

I tune in every wednesday.... And just when it was getting good, they have to end the season. Bummer. But that means there should be a new season come September.

Oh, and my view on "Sarah", is she seems to be a weak character. The studio would do well to enhance her character some in the next season.

I agree Syf about Sarah being a weaker character but weirdly enough that has occured since the "restructuring" of the show. Since they removed her from official "Love interest" to head of the Foundation she has so much less to do that it has weakened her character.

Of course this is the trade off for all of those people who wanted "Just Mike and the car" as the focus. I liked her character before the restructuring and I'm not very keen on the whole "babe of the week formula" this type of show has. I wish they integrated Sarah back into the show as more than the boss, hopefully they will.

Still the show is the starting to get its legs, I just hope they don't go too cheesey like the 80s version (As much as I loved it as a kid). In any case, there's nothing really better to watcch on Wednesdays so I hope the series continues to improve.

Well, I hope you both visit Knight Rider Online and sign the petition then.

The show has definately got better in recent weeks, and closer to the roots of the original.

Sarah has always been a weak character IMO. I think the reboot may have done better had the cast been reduced to Mike, Kitt, Sarah and Charles Graiman (the great Bruce Davison) but they decided to stick with zoe and billy. so far its working well though.

For the second season, NBC needs to make sarah a stronger character, and reduce the 'Mary-Sue'-ness of her. She's been made out to be good at pretty much everything at the expense of any real depth or character.

They also need to advertise the flipping show more!! it suffered twice for being knocked off for a week for Obama's speeches. dont get me wrong, those speeches were important, as is Obama now being pres, but NBC should have made the effort to advertise the show more in the weeks it was absent, to pull viewers back in when it returned.

Still, on an upbeat note, the show has improved, and it does have a lot of fan support, which can only be good

I have noticed the lack of spoiler tags on the spoilers on a few stuff that happened this and that episode.

Oh well, a little late now. But I will write my parts in spoilers anyway. :p

First one thing: The show has finally aired in Norway. :excited: I saw the pilot today (both episodes), and I like the series already. Now for the spoiler tag:

Well, I believe it will take some time for me to get used to that new voice and that KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand, not Knight Industries Two Thousand) is a Mustang and not a Trans Am. Like the others here, I prefer the Trans Am. :p But the pilot was great anyway and with new exiting stuff. I like the nanotech part of the car there it does the camouflage, and I can't wait for the transformation mode that somehow looks like a combination between Transformers and Viper (according to the trailers). I hope that nanotech part will be showed later as well (the camothing is what I talk about). ;) And I guessed right at the end of episode two (end of the pilot) that the person that stood a bit away was Micheal Knight. :)
It was lots of humorous stuff in the episode as well, like then KITT asked Mike about why he (Mike) left Sarah.

I know someone would prefer that KITT exited a semi-trailer instead of that jumbo-plane, but I also can understand why it's a plane now and not that trailer.

By the way, I read what you said about KARR, and I do hope we see more to him later (if possible) as that sounded a bit disappointing to have him shown so little.

I believe the episodes in the series will be shown each Monday here, so updates on what I think about those will come frequently. ;)

Ok, the episodes are shown each Monday here, and since it has now been two more episodes since my last entry, there will be two episodes mentioned in my spoiler:

The third episode was interesting. There we got to know that Mike has a hidden past not even he remembers. There was a while that I suspected that FBI agent to be the leak that did it so Mike's past caught up with him, but it showed up she was not the leak.
I did got a bit surprised then we found out that Charles was hiding something (that he knew the past to Mike and such) as well as the other guy (don't remember his name). Kitt did oversee and overhear them then they talked so we shall see how this goes.
By the way, it weren't that original of Mike to change his name to Micheal Knight then he had to get a new name. Ok, so he wanted to name himself after his father, but still. :p

Now for the fourth episode. Not so original of having the episode evolving around racing, but it was a good one. Nice to see Kitt changing between attack-mode, turbo-boost, etc. in this episode. :p
Now we also found out that one of Mike's old friends no longer were a friend (though we found that out first at the end).
I like the lasers Kitt has gotten as well. :D
And it was funny to see how Charles reacted then he found out that Sarah was stealing a car, he thought Mike was behind that, and Mike did say he was. But it was actually Sarah that was behind the idea of that theft. :lol2:

I wonder what the fifth episode, which will be shown today, has to offer. :D

If i recall correctly, the 5th episode is the halloween episode. One of the better episodes for the first part of the season.
Highlights include Mike's pranks, Billy dressing up as Captain Jack from Torchwood and Zoe in a cheerleaders outfits. nice.

That may be the sixth episode you are talking about as the pilot was both episode 1 and 2. ;) There wasn't any mention of Halloween in today's episode.

In fact, it was about surfing. Mike was looking for a person called Turner, which was a special agent they weren't sure of. The episode made it hard to determine if Turner was good or bad, it even for a while looked like he was a hostage and was forced to do as the bad guys said. but in the end it showed up he was one of the bad guys himself and the hostage art was fake.
Funny thing that the defense department didn't even wanted to tell their own employees in Knight Industries that they had misplaced a few K-17 missiles. And even more funny that first after one of those missiles almost caused a worser incident than Chernobyl that they admitted they didn't have all of the missiles. :p

Interesting to see Kitt in submarine mode, though it weren't intentional at that point. :D
And I think both Zoe and Sarah is jealous on one another as they both wanted to follow Mike. :lol2:

I think Mike would have more against surfing now than he did before, though. :p

Just checked... you are correct, the halloween one is episode 6 of the series (interestingly, the pilot movie is not counted in that number... so if your from norway, the 8th episode...)

The one with the sub-transform and nuclear missiles is "Knight of the Iguana", episode 3.

Down with NBC.

Perhaps if theyd done a decent job of advertising the show... maybe not messed around with the schedules so much and knocking it off for weeks at a time.

Its a shame really, its doing quite well over here in the UK

I agree. I've just started watching it properly and its quite good. But then if something like Terminator can be canceled then so can Knight Rider...

Down with all television networks and up with the BBC!

Sorry for not posting so much in this thread, and as I will cover four episodes now I will not go so much into them:

Episode 6 - Here Mike got poisoned while he was undercover, forcing him not only to fulfill the bad guy mission he first had orders to just pretend to fulfill, but also since the poison had some truth serum in it he was forced to tell the truth about quite a few things.

This episode became quite funny because of the truth serum. :lol2: And Mike also said what he really felt for Sarah because of it, but he should have had guts to tell her that without having a truth serum forcing him. :p

Episode 7 - Another undercover episode, though this time Mike pretended to be a corrupt marine. Mike was doing it great, despite the fact that he got beat up alot, until one other undercover told him she was. That is because she blew their cover as they happened to be spied upon by the real bad guys at that moment.

KITT took some beating as well here, and it's rather typical that his up link to the satellite got repaired just as Mike and the other person undercover was holding each other very close to get warm. :lol2:

Episode 8 - Halloween episode. :D Yes, this episode is so far the best one I've seen. Everyone was suspecting everyone then they found out a saboteur and murderer was on the loose. KITT almost got destroyed here as well as the sab initiated his self destruct.

Kitt found out about why Charles had that self destruct program in the first place input into him (KITT) and that was because Charles didn't wanted Kitt to become another KARR.

Nice to have KARR mentioned here. And this part is also funny (not sure of this is the direct quote):
"A car named C.A.R.?" Mike.
"No, a car named K.A.R.R." - KITT
:D

Episode 9 - Here the team was after two people which called themselves for Nicki and Max. The situation got more complicated then they (Mike and Sarah) found out that Nicki was not to be hurt, and she shot Mike Mike survived).
Then she was finally caught, she managed to foul the entire team, 'specially her own father, before she again ran away.

The secret files about KITT and the team was almost delivered to the global net because of Nicki and Max, but they were finally stopped at the end.

Edit: Three more episodes (perhaps I should start again with updating each week again  ):

Episode 10 - Seems Kitt thinks Las Vegas is a dangerous place. Anyway, Mike was undercover again and found out about the plans to an ex-security officer to rob the casino he used to work on.
Unfortunately Mike's disguise was seen through then it showed u that he was better than the person he impersonated.

Episode 11 - Another very good episode. This one was about a nanovirus. As they were chasing it down, Kitt got infected and by the influence of it killed an old school mate of Sarah.
They managed to save Kitt in the last second then they found the antivirus program, interesting that the password to it was "Sarah". :p
By the way, Karr was mentioned again. :D

Episode 12 - Here we got a terrorist that is forcing Mike and Kitt to follow his orders. It shows up that the terrorist is using drones to pick u packages as well. Funny parts by the way about backup plans. :p
Well, for that the terrorist shall free this one person Mike has to do this and that. Among others he has to free a prisoner by braking into prison, and also get some hafnium.
It shows up the terrorist is building a hafnium bomb. And at the end then it seems Mike is managing to free the hostage, it goes wrong. Mike is captured, and the hostage is recaptured. Mike is forced to drive away at a certain speed and in a certain direction to avoid the bomb planted on Kitt exploding (somehow this reminded me of Speed  ). And just as Mike has started to drive away, a bomb explodes in the warehouse he was just in, and which we last saw some FBI folks went into.

And then I found out I had to wait to see how this goes as it then said "To be continued..." :p

Started to run out of space on previous post, so I now make a new one. Three new episodes coming up:

Episode 13 - That was the second and last episode concerning the terrorist mentioned in last episode. He apparently was a fanatic that thought destroying a large part of US would make US safer. :p
At least he was taken out on the end.
It was fun to see how Kitt solved the problem of that they had to speed away in one direction there it was traffic then Kitt still had that GPS bomb attached to him.
He actually transformed into a police car, and it worked well outside of that police man that saw through the bluff. Mike tried to tell the police man he couldn't stop because of that bomb, but the police man didn't listen. At least Kitt and Mike shook him off before they went aboard their plane.
It was fun to see the jealous Hank in part one of this ep. And he was in this as well and helped the others to get rid of that bomb.
Though it seems like we're not gonna see Charles again through anything else than flashbacks etc., as he died this ep. thanks to explosive decompression or something similar.

Episode 14 - One word; Karr. :D Yes, this episode was about Karr, and now we found out why there was something fishy about Torres. Torres was actually working to get Karr back and needed Kitt's AI program for that, though that meant he had to deactivate Kitt for it.
This was a very cool episode, and it was interesting to find out Mike was Karr's original driver.
And while Karr proved to Torres that he couldn't be controlled, Mike and the others was racing to reactivate Kitt.
After Kitt had gone active again the showdown between him and Karr occurred, and I have to agree with Knight and the others; We saw too little to Karr and Kitt won too easily over him.

Episode 15 - The entire crew was very tired at the beginning of this ep., though it didn't take long before something happened that woke them all up. And that was bank robbery right at the spot Mike and Kitt was.
Though it became clear early to the team that it was no ordinary bank robbery. And while Mike was helping a kid as well as her mother, he got taken hostage.
It was several fun parts in this one, including there one of the perps asked Mike who Kitt was, and mike said that he (the perp) would hit him if he told him. The per asked again, and Mike said "Kitt is my car.", and Mike was right, the perp hit him again. :p
Another fun art is there at the end of the ep. there Kitt is rushing to get the two crooks that tries to escape, and says "Sorry for my intruding.", or something like that, then he passes close by some people on the beach.

Well, another episode is coming up later today. :)
