Season 4

Dr Who is back this Saturday (in the UK anyway). Sarah-Jane, Rose, Martha, Jack & (now) Donna are all going to be appearing in the season too, though, not at the same time. I don't believe we've been told when Jack is going to next be in, but it would have been nice I think, to see the whole lot in one episode.

I / We know that Martha will be in an earlier episode, Rose in the last three, and Donna all the way through (not so enjoyed with this choice).

But yeah, just to let everyone know. :)

Yeah I've seen a few adverts for it, I'm looking forward to seeing it, though as you said not so much for the return of Donna.

The Episode starts off with the Doctor feeling very much alone (since Martha left last season (and joined UNIT, and helped Torchwood), he is looking into a medical/drug company who have claims about a pill that will literally "make the fat walk off you", in a attempt to find the Doctor, Donna (from the "Runnaway Bride" xmas special ie - katherine Tate), because she regrets not taking the Doctor up on his offer to travel with him, is investigating any signs of weirdness or aliens, and so there paths cross ......

Triva :-
* The Shadow Proclimation is talked about.
* We find out that 2x Sonic Screwdrivers can unlock a "Deadlock Seel" (1x cannot)

Lookout :-
* We see Rose Tyler in the last 2x mins of the episode and then she just walks/phases away - bigger story ark me thinks......

Ahem: Season 4 - Majestic Sci-Fi Central  :p

Was a pretty poor episode though I thought. Tate looked... well, to be quite honest, unattractive. Was a nice twist to see Rose there at the end though, then, as you said, she walked / phased away... Makes you wonder what is going on there...

Unfortunatly, we'll have to wait till the end of the season to find out. :(

We do know that all 5 of the companions that have been in (new) Who, will be in this season, so expect to see:-
Rose Tyler (Torchwood London - Alternate Earth)
Captain Jack (Head of Torchwood Cardiff)
Sarah Jane Smith (Investigative Reporter)
Martha Jones (U.N.I.T. - Medical)
Donna (Doesn't shut up!........)

and it has been rumoured that Davros will play a part in the end of this season.

With the line of the above, and the fact that RTD has has spent a lot of time making this season more powerful/darker, I believe its going to shape up ok.

Threads merged as similar.

I am really looking forward to this season I even heard that (look in spoiler)

Mickey, Jackie and Pete (Rose's alternative father) returns with her and in fact Captain Jack is also in the episode where they return.

I also read on the official site that the Doctor meets himself... Thats right a past Doctor (Peter Davidson, hope I got the name right) appears for an episode.

Even though the series hasn't return to Australian TV just yet, it isn't far off as we usually get it before the US and no long after it starts to air in the UK and I can't wait for it as just the little bit I have read tells me it's going to be a awesome series.

I even read there is going to be a regeneration but from what I heard it's not the Doctor and fan speculation is that it's either the Master reborn, the Doctor's daughter (didn't know he had one myself ) or someone called Raja or Rana.

That was a Children in Need special episode (never saw it though), but it isn't in Season 4.

and it has been rumoured that Davros will play a part in the end of this season.
I definately hope that's true!

It could be whoever picks up the Masters ring of his funeral pyer at the end of season 3 ........
As I myself dont think that the Doctor is the last of the Time Lords, I believe that Bo's warning was meant for something bigger!

Episode 2

The Doctor and Donna arrive in Pompeii, 1 day before the volcano errupts.

This is a real character driven episode, where we learn a lot about how the doctor thinks, what he see's as his curse, and what he must do to protect time.

Trivia =
* The Shadow Proclimation is talked about again.
* Time Lords can see if an event in time will change history
* The Doctor uses his companions as his moral compass

Lookout =
* Didnt see one in this episode but knowing R.T.D. I may have missed it!

Does your local cable or Sat. TV offer the "SciFi Channel"? If so, season 4 starts airing in the US this coming Friday night (April 18th 8:30/7:30pm). It seems the US is now only a couple weeks behind the UK on air times this year.

Yeah it sucks, as Aus was only a couple of weeks behind the UK and was the only show we got to see before the US, other shows we have to wait 6months to a year. Now the ABC is trying to get the money to buy the new season and we still haven't got a date for the airing on the new season. :x

I'm rather interested in this "Shadow Proclimation" thing. It seems somewhat like the Prime Directive in Star Trek, but just for all the alien species in the Dr Who Universe, though I guess some would choose to ignore it.

I guess it is up to the timelords (those that are left) to make sure people stick to it, though it will be interesting when it is actually revealed.. That is assuming, that it ever is.

Episode 2 I thought was good... though not without its flaws.
The fact the Doctor was actually responsible was different, and gave a moral addition to his character).
Episode 3 should be good. Martha is back!!

Episode 4 x 03

Episode 4 x 03 - Planet of the Ood.

The doctor sets the Tardis flight controls to random, as to surprise Donna, and they find themselves on the homeworld of the Ood.

a well balanced episode where we get to see that Donna does have some brains and soul, and her and the doctor are starting to "gel"

Points to look out for :-
* The Ood tell the doctor that his song (life) will end  ,but when.

Its horrible to say, but the best bit of this episode was the trailer for next episode ..... Marthas back:excited: , and so is UNIT

Episode 4 x 04

The Doctor recevies a phone call from Marth Jones, asking for his his help with a UNIT mission on earth....

Trivia :-
* We find out who Marthas engaged to.
* A question is raised as to if it was the doctor, who got Martha the job with UNIT (see Torchwood).
* The Doctor is technically still on staff with UNIT (but has no rank).
* The Sontarans are in this episode
* Torchwood gets a mention
* We have seen Donna's mum before, she was in the xmas special "The Runaway Bride (its obvious when you think about it, but she says it on screen).
* We have see Donna's Grandad before too, he was the guy selling newspapers in london when the doctor beamed down from the Starship Titanic (in Voyage of the Damned), and the doctor asked him why london was so empty (remember...).

Look outs :-
None I could see.......

The Doctor, Donna, and Martha battle to save the earth from the Sontarans evil plan, but at what cost...

Triva :-
* The UNIT carrier Valiant shows up (eye candy).
* The Brigadear is still in service with UNIT, but was stranded in a different country, so unable to help.
* The Valiant has powerful alien weapons (looks like a death star.....).
* Captain Jack gets a mention.
* Martha has security clearence as high, if not higher than the Doctors:Y
* Martha, doesn't want travel with Doctor anymore, as she is happy on earth

Look out :-
* Did you see Rose on the TARDIS computer screen when the doctor was talking to the Sontaran General?, and she looked in distress .....
* Whats with the doctors (severed) hand, it seems to be going nuts at the end of the episode (look its on the TARDIS console)....

I liked the sontarons i still remeber my mum showing me one of the old episodes with them in when i was litte. I thought they were a bit weak for a warrior race when the human weapons started working.

Episode 04 x 06

Epsiode 6 - The Doctors Daughter...

The Tardis is out of control, and takes the Doctor, Donna and Martha to a distant planet, when they emerge from the Tardis they are greated by a warzone, not long after this the Doctor and Co are introduced the latest soldier to fight for the Humans - the Doctors daughter

Triva
* It appears Time Lords can be cloned!
* The Doctor had a family (with children) but they were killed in the Time War
* A cloned Time Lord has all the abilities (biological) of an original!
* The Doctors severed hand now forms part of the TARDIS console.
* The Doctors daughter is named Jenny by Donna
* Donna has a brain..... she actually works something out before the Doctor!
* It is implied that the Doctor was reponcible for his own families death when he ended the Time War.
* The Doctor will at all costs, not kill any one and not allow anyone to kill when he is around.

Look outs
* Martha warns Donna that she will get tired of traveling with Doctor.
* Could Jenny (the Doctors daughter) be what Bo was on about when he said you are not alone?
* Could Jenny be the one who picks up the Masters ring?

Non-Story Related Triva
* Jenny is played by Peter Davidsons daughter (honest), so you could say she is actually the daughter of a Time Lord.........

Partners In Crime - 34 x 1:
What a fun start to this season.
The first shot of Donna is identical to how Martha first appeared in the previous season opener Smith and Jones.
I so love the expression on Donna's face when she first sees the Doctor again.
Penny is so unbelievable - she got the chance to escape courtesy of the Doctor only to be captured again.
Sarah Lancashire is superb as Miss Foster.
Not too sure practically it was a good idea for Donna leaving her keys in a bin for her mother to pick up.
Wow in the midst of all this Rose appears and literally disappers. Lovely to see her back albeit very briefly this time around.

Planet of the Ood:
Tim McInnerny is very good as Mr Halpern. Also special mention for Ayesha Dharker as Solana.
I love the Ood song.
Funny when Solana mistaken the Doctor and Donna as husband and wife especially with Donna's reaction.
Very shocking to see Mr Halpern turn into an Ood.

Very good Doctor Who debut from writer Keith Temple.

The Sontaran Strategem:
In comparisons to the return of the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Master, the return of the Sontaran seemed less spectacular.
However this episode is not a bad return for them.
Martha and Donna meet but I hate that Martha is engaged.
I am not sure that I like the uniforms worn by the UNIT soldiers, black with a red cap. Looks tacky to me.
Very eerie seeing the duplicate of Martha.
What a great cliffhanger especially with Wilfred being trapped in the car.

What did people think of the penultimate episode, it was certainly action packed
I dont think hes going to perminatly regenerate away from David tennant, too many people on earth have died so i think they are going to go back in time and stop it from ever happening, possible using that key thing martha has.

I didnt realise the shadow proclamation was real i assume dthe doctor made them up to sound more authorative to aliens.

Which companion do people think is "the doctors most loyal companion will die"
Things arnt boading well for donna they way everyone keep stelling her shes going to die.

Rumour has it David Tennant is leaving the show at the end of this season, that being the case, he will / has / can die.

Personally:
I don't think they can go back in time, because with a timelord, once something happens to them, they can't go back and change it (else he could have gone back and saved his people). His fate isn't going to change I don't think.

Either he is going to somehow stop the regeneration, or, he'll regenerate, and we'll be left with someone else. We'll then get the Christmas Special (which is suppose to involve the Cybermen) and then will see where we are from there. From what I've read too, in the Christmas special, he has no companion.

Oh, I had a feeling it was real, just we didn't know much about it. To be honest, I was dissapointed. It is practically the Jadoon and an old Woman. Wow!!

It seems everyone believes it'll be Donna, however, I would have personally thought it to be Rose that is the 'loyal' companion. They didn't really use the right word, I don't think 'loyal' is the correct word to use.

It'll be Rose or Donna anyway.

The woman on the library planet episode recognised him as the doctor without being told his name, having known him in the future, If he had regerated then his appearenced would have change and thus she would have been less willing to go into thecomputer core thing instead of the doctor. Since hes still alive at this point then she must have done it and so he must have not have changed his appearance q.e.d.
(few that was tiering and probably wrong)

If you listen to the doctor when he talks to Martha the first time he meets her he can cross (or change) his own time line, its just not allowed.

And in the one that just aired we find out that the reason the doctor didnt go back and change the time war was because it was "time locked", I would assume based on the doctors responce at seeing Davros, that this means that time line/event cannot be changed, but other things can.

Well thats the last episode done
It was a little sad to see donna go at the end i wonder who his next companion will be.
How will the daleks get out this most recent comlete destruction?
was i the only one who thought there some sujestion that Martha and mickey would be on torchwood now, they certainly need some new people.
All in all it was a good episode
