• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello, MechWarriors!

A while ago, TF suggested a tool for calculating and comparing the damage done by 'mechs. Now, I present you the first prototype of the MechWarrior Calculator.

mwcalc.jpg

As you can see, you need the damage and reload rate from MechLab. Put it into the calculator and voila... you get your info. At the moment it calculates only the alpha strike, continuous damage coding is not yet there. I will use the xcalc algorithm I developed for A2, so that's not a problem.

This is just a workaround, though. The next version will be vastly superior to this one. No need to get the stats from MechLab. Instead, you will be able to "mount" the weapon just by entering the usual short name (so Heavy Small Laser would be CHSML, Hyper Autocannon/10 would be HVAC10, Clan gauss Rifle would be CGAUSS and so on). I hope to add heat management, too. and some other stuffs.

But for now, this one will have to do. It's not complete yet, but almost. Patience, people!

That's it for now. Stay tuned.

Net heat output and heat dealt to enemy mechs would also be a cool thing to have progammed into the weapons. Figuring out how much heat the flamer, for instance, deals to an enemy 'Mech could be hard to do, though.

This is a very cool idea. The heat issues should be easy to factor in, since all the weapon specs have heat generated included. heat/damage dealt to target mechs may be a little more difficult. One of the things I have a problem with in MW4 is how very much it is dumbed down from the TT rules. Weapons are simplified and it is very very easy to mount weapons which ordinarily would not be available for a particular mech.

'Mech heat capacity and waste heat generated by weapons can be found in the MechLab, so that's easy.
Concerning the output of heater weapons... I'm not sure that we actually know that.
