• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Like the title says this is a holiday based contest to get everyone into the spirit of the season.

All you have to do is come up with some kind of scene (2d or 3d) that depicts the Christmas/new year’s season inside some kind of sci-fi setting.

The deadline will be January 31st, 2009 and voting will start a few days later.

(I would like to suggest that a Santa hat award be made for this contest and be given to all who entry with a golden hat for the winner.)

I'll see what I can do about coming up with awards. Gotta get Majestic on here to pin them up.

But yeah, I like this idea, and the MSFC staff supports this.

So, making it official, this is the 2nd MSFC art contest. Rules are simple enough it has to be 2D or 3D, holiday season focused. For those that are not into Christmas or other holidays in this month, let me remind you that this can be a New Year's theme too.

So, off to the drawing boards....:)

Edit: Thread Stickied!

Being that 2d is allowed as well I think a Note should be posted in the 2d Section as well.

Work starting on a 2d style image

Seeing as there are several hours between posts, it's ok.

Well, I'll leave that up to -RJB-, since the contest is his spawn.

I don't think he meant the time, but where should the entries to the contest be posted (in this thread or another)? ;)

Just a question: Is that a scifiplane as the theme also needed to be scifi? :)

I'll Try my hand a 2d pic as My 3D skills still lack lol. Plus gives me the chance to practise with GIMP and Photoshop. Oh and my new Graphic tablet.

Really? Didnt seem to know that it was supposed to be sci fi. lawl.

Here's an idea. "It was modified by SG-1 to use Wraith Avionics as a testbed, but since her first flight was supossed to be December 24. The guys in charge of painting the airframe did a little something..."

Nice Tail Number, JF2008 Correct?

True

Constructive Remark for an Airedale? Needs to be a little higher on the Rudder.

I think the entry qualifies. Since jets are as much part of Science Fiction as space ships. I remember a movie or 2 that had jets fighting alien invader ships.

^ Thanks for the consideration peeps :)

It's an Su-33 Naval Flanker. Maybe the Su-35 was on yer mind. As I recall, it did have a redesigned rudder ;)

You're welcome.

And here I was thinking it looked like the F-18 Hornet with a bit of changes added. lol, Guess I need to study my jets once more.

I'd like to request one of those Jets from the movie "Stealth" with christmas Decals.

^ Heh, I'm guessing it's a starship verson of Santa's Sled...:)

Gonna have to decline on this one. There's no decent schematics for the plane in question.

Here is the start of mine.
I'llBeHome_001.jpg

The scene will be called "I'll be home for Christmas...."
The window will have a view overlooking earth and there will be a desk by the window with a snow globe and some xmas lights around the room.

Well don't feel bad. I had to replace my HD, and I now can't seem to locate my entry model.:cry2:

So, what to do... what to do?

Sorry for the lack of turn out RJB... Looks like this contest turned into a "no contest".:(

But the good news is, I will find and finish my model, even if it takes me 2 weeks.
