Hi Everyone,

You may have noticed that Majestic has not been on MSFC in about a week, unfortunately, Due to unforseen circumstances Majestic is forced to have a leave of absence until such time as I deem him able to return, don't worry I haven't gone and locked him in a mental institution hehe

The problem is with our computers, being as tempermental as a pc can be both Majestics and my pc's have suddenly *upon trying to upgrade to larger hard drives* died.... My pc being only 2months old since I built it. *I'll be sharing a few choice words with the distributor of the hard drive*

At this stage Maj has no pc and has been enjoying the extra time in which he can dedicate himself to Halo Reach but that will wear off so I had better get cracking and fix his pc! I have my awesome phone in which to watch over MSFC so I'll still be around incase of any issues plus we have our awesome staff to help keep everything in order!

Good luck patching em up, just hope Halo works fine with you (Some reports about xbox's refusing the disks)

Hmmm - I have the opposite problem - my xbox died... No Reach for me...:(

That is weird though... do you know what the problem was?

I hope you get them up and running again...

We have others to defeat them as well, maybe I can assimilate Moose and Squirrel.

Anyway, I hope your computers will be up and good soon, Maj and Kat. :)

I can just see it now... Borg Moose and Squirrel... Makes resistance soooo much harder.:lol2:

That, and between all the haze, I am still keeping an eye on things. I might warn everyone, I haven't been visible much simply because with all the poop I have been dealing with, I fear I might not show my normal level of understanding and tolerance. Which means I am more likely to ban someone than normal. Usually, it would be me staying Majestic's hand of execution if there is a redeemable option... But with what I have been dealing with, I am twice as likely to be the executioner than Majestic is on a very bad day.

The problem was the brand new 2tb hard drive I bought for Maj's pc, it decided it was gonna fry his main drive, hell, for an hour and a half we thought it had fried his secondary containing all his work he has ever done for armada1 and 2, not to mention all his yesteryears work.... Trust me, u did not want to be around Maj when we thought it was all gone.... Not even I could keep him tamed and I usually do a very good job of keeping him in check. Maj was so peeved he went out to put the airhorns in my car and accidently burnt his hand on the engine and ended up with a nasty burn blister for his efforts :-/

As for Reach, well no worries there, it works great, we have been playing online all day, I even managed to score the odst suit for my avatar via the waypoint awards as well as the remote control falcon :D

I'll do my best to get it all working, just have alot piled on me in one go and need to take a step back and work out which is more important first up, since my health issues have caused me to take time out from work and caused me to be bed ridden alot as of late. At least for the moment my laptop still works *makes every good luck symbol in as many different cultural beliefs she can* LOL

I understand completely. I will try not to incite or be the cause of any wrath. BTW, if you are planning on any public executions in the immediate future, may I please have the Tee Shirt Concession? Be a real money maker and of course I'd use the standard 60/40 split on profit with you receiving the 60 percent.

Yes and keep hammers far away as well as for some odd reason hammers do not work well at fixing computers:confused:

Just relax and take things easy for a bit. The site is in good hands.

thunderfoot you know better

60/40 split :lol2:More like a 80/20 and not a penny more you know the deal and you have to come up with the over head on the cost of the Tee Shirt printing and Mob pay outs

Well I am glad to hear that not all is lost. I am wondering a few things about your systems. I know Maj's was an X4 AMD Core, and I am thinking yours is as well Kat (correct me if I am wrong). One thing I am wondering is if your PSUs (PSU = power supply) are strong enough to run everything in your systems. If your running 4X CPUs, good graphics cards, plus several HDs/CD/DVD-rom/RWs, you might want to look at your PSUs as not enough. I am not sure what your running, but I'd make sure I have a good 850w or better. Also make sure it has more than 1 SATA cable built in. Perhaps try disabling all other drives, and run a clean install on the new drives without an other HDs powered and then add one other HD at a time to copy the files you want to save to the new drives and remove the old HDs and save as backups. Then install all your stull (apps and such), then make a clean restore point (remove all old restore points) before going to much further. Be sure to backup that restore point as well. A 4-8gb USB Flash drive is fine fore that. If I was there, I'd do the work for you (ask Frog, I do that sort of work here ALL the time). If you have any further issues, just drop me a line. I might know a fix for it.

This is not good. I know how that feels like... :cry2: Two years ago, my graphics card died. But it decided not to go down alone, so for some reason it took my HDD with it. *RAAAAAGE* Fortunately, most of my stuff survived it. That was one of the most frightening and disheartening things that ever happened to me. I can totally understand him being upset.

Also, the Triple Modder Smash Of Righteous Justice does not do any good at all. ;)

the time off the net I think is really doing Maj some good. He seems more relaxed right now.

As for our computers, my first thought was maybe the PSU's were not enough so tomorrow I'm going to get 1 new one of a larger size than we are currently running, the pc is not detecting the new drive and currently wont power up if our main drives are connected. And yes Syf u are correct in assuming I am running a quad core, I'll let u know how things go after replacing the PSU, I'll slowly work my way thru to get at least Maj up and running again then my own pc, I used to fix my mum's and brothers pc's all the time so I'm used to troubleshooting them, just annoys the bahoopas out of me lol

Then I'd suggest scheduling some offline time more often. I have two days a week where I refuse to have anything to do with my computers or the Internet. Easy to get sucked in and make this a substitute for Real Life.

Hmmmm, is 'bahoopas' another of those peculiar Aussie words deliberately intended to confuse those of us whom are non-Aussies?

I see Hellkite has fallen for the clever disguise I use. The one where I am actually much smarter than I appear. HAH! Gotcha! The words, "Southern" or "Redneck" are not synonyms for, "dumb". lol

That actually made me laugh hehe

Good news, Syf and I were quite correct when we assumed the issue was with the PSU, I have since replaced Maj's PSU with a larger version and his pc is now installing Vista Ultimate on his new hard drive, although the 2tb I bought for him is still not detecting but we will take it back on the weekend and ask for a replacement drive :D

Next step is to get my Pc up and running as well, hopefully soon but fornow I have my laptop to do for the internet just not games hehe

Thank you to Syf for all his advice and thank you also to CF for his help also ;)

See that's where I'm different, I've always been able to sort hardware out but I'm stumped when it comes to software :x

My first PC was back in the days when the largest hard drive was 5gb haha
Maj's pc only had 500gb drive as his largest so I thought some extra space would suit him since he only had 90gb of space remaining and it was slowly decreacing, mine however has a 250gb as its largest drive and only has 20gb free space left, hopefully mine too will be up and running again soon, we spent the last of our cash on hand fixing Maj's PC so I'll have to dip into other accounts to fix mine.

That's why I went and played Halo Reach and left Katala to the technical aspects of the PCs. I wear steel cap boots, so you can imagine how much damage I could've done. :lol2:

But thanks to Syf and Katala we got my PC back up and running, just need to replace the fried 2TB drive, to be honest I doubt it was working to start with. Thankfully we got a 3 year warranty with it. So on Sunday we will be going back and getting a replacement.

So for the next couple of days I'll be rebuilding my install and backing up much data that I can't afford to loose.
