Hello all, apart from my low poly work I am also working on improving my high poly skills. Considering I have never made a model over 3000 pollies before this is a new undertaking for me. My aim is to get a model between 15,000 and 20,000 pollies.

Again it's a Constitution in a re-imagined form. I wanted to take another shot at it due to the new movie due to hit the big screen in a couple of months. I have seen more work online done by fans showing the new Enterprise and while the design is interesting I am not a major fan of it. There are parts of it I really like, but I feel it's put together all wrong (at least to my liking) so I thought I would try my hand at a re-imagined Enterprise that is closer to the Star Trek XI (11) Enterprise than the Enterprise from TOS.

I have so far completed the saucer and nacelles (for the most part). I still need to do the engineering hull, neck and pylons as well as the minor details and find a texture set to match which I think I already have found.

I would love some feedback from the community here and any suggestions any of you may have. :)

Thanks La Patience, I got to do some more work on it today, I still have a long way to go and only just a few minutes ago added in a basic neck and warp pylons. Both of those need to be edited to fit what I am after. I still also need to finish off the engineering hull, put the shuttlebay etc on but I have made some good progress.

The model currently shands a shade under 14,500 pollies. My aim is between 15,000 to 20,000 and with the majority of major shapes added (the high poly ones at least) I don't think it will get all that much larger. So I estimate under 18,000 will be the completed poly size.

I noticed while looking at the model that it would make an extremely good X-Era Constitution as it currently stands as I can see it strongly follows TOS Constitution with only minor differences (not counting the warp nacelles :p ).

Anyway below are some screenshots showing off the model as it stands currently.

:) Thanks RJB, I will be posting some more this afternoon I am a little discouraged by not only the model not going the way I want (the arc plate mainly) but also the lack of interest. I will see how I go with it as I did want to make an updated TMP version after this one to show my own up to date version of TOS and TMP eras.

Maj has been working really hard on his modelling lately, actually other than sleeping that is pretty much all he has been doing, I rather enjoy being ble to sit back and watch him creating, it's quite relaxing and I think they are looking rather good, especially considering how much time he has put into it all :D

The models are looking great Maj.

I might make a suggestion however. On the Nacelles, I see your using the scale function to make the cylinder rings. You might consider making a straight single cylinder, than using seperate once to make up the rings. Just mentioning that, as it will reduce your Nacelles poly counts by about 20%. If this were a high-end rendering app, it wouldn't be an issue, and would be better the way you have them. But with Milkshape, saving poly counts is important.

The creation of a round object is where I get stuck lol. I think this is comming along well Majestic. I would love to see a TMP one after this one is finished. You have created some awesome Trek models in the past.

Hope this continues that tradition. So far its do just that.

Thanks to both of you.

Well I got stuck on this design, the arch (arc?) plate just didn't seem to want to work right for me so I am taking a break from it. I have started to remake the ship but this time at a much lower poly count, but is still much higher than I am used to making.

Using the original as my base, the design is basically identical and it will have a max poly count of 8k (8000).

So far I am up to 6,500 (approx) pollies and I have very little left to do on it. I need to model the impulse engines, finish the engineering hull (ie add the shuttlebay), add some more detail to the nacelles and add two torpedeo turrets, one fore and one aft. Then there are a few minor things left and it will be ready for texturing.

Again this is my own TOS design of the Constitution and I will be doing a TMP version afterwards then from the two models do an entire TOS and TMP Federation fleet out of them. Got to love kitbashing, when it comes to making a fleet saves so many hours of modelling and texturing.
