• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Yeah I've downloaded and played around a little with Daz studio today. Wanted to see what I could do. Extremely basic atm, but here is something I did with the pre-loaded assets.

I added hair, changed it's colour, changed the eye colour and added a pre-made pose. I have played with some of my own poses but they didn't turn out very well.

The reason I am learning this is I want to expand my skills and also eventually make custom 3D images of my Midway crew for the fan fiction I plan to get back into soon.

If anyone here as any experience with the software and want to throw some tips at me, offer help or has any tutorials and such, feel free to post and let me know. :D

EDIT:

Some more renders using a tutorial, I also did some variants. Yeah a couple of them are blurry, still playing around and figuring everything out.

I like it matey, you can probably start your own CG modelling agency at this rate LOL!

I hear a lot of positive buzz about DAZ, many folks in DeviantArt have it as their standard-issue renderer I believe. :)

Yeah it's a difficult program to get your head around though. But considering I have only been at it a day I guess that is to be expected.

I'll probably try and spend a few days this coming week trying to see if I can improve and get the fundamentals down. I have seen what people can do with the program, some amazing stuff.

Also good for avatars in FO. Or anything where you need images of people, really.

I agree Cabal and would be good to be able to offer my services to A2 modders in need of such images.

I haven't done anymore as I had to go to the next town (50KM away) to do shopping that I didn't do during the week as I had my 4WD in getting a service. I plan to play around with it some more this afternoon. :D

Well there is huge sale on atm so I bought $20 worth of bare essentials to be able to some Star Trek stuff, plus downloaded a hoard of free items that are mods of these base items I bought, hence the Star Trek bits and pieces.

Here is my latest result. Feedback is welcomed. :D

I'll have to start that this week, last week got away on us with the truck having to go in twice.

Here are some new renders of mine. Clipping issues in the first one. The second one worked out quite well.

And two more, now time for bed. :D

Looking good Maj .

So when well we get to see a Cyber Katala ?

Thanks mate.

Um if I want to live past this hour, um never. :lol2:

Once I get better, especially once I learn to morph figures so I can create individuals I want to do the entire Midway crew for my fan fiction that means a Cyber version of you. :p

I currently use Daz Studio 4.8 and my page at deviant art has a lot of Trek related images I made. Hoping to get my hands on the odyssey class from here to do more. :)

Feel free to create your own art thread here mate to show your work. Remember to attach the images rather than just linking them. ;)

A while back I used Daz in combination with XNA/Lara to do a lot of Mass Effect renders. These are on my DeviantArt page but I may as well post them here as I am unsure if I have posted them on MSFC before.

You can find descriptions for each image on my DeviantArt profile if you're interested. :D

Thanks mate. Yeah a bit of a learning curve. The lighting has been my biggest issue.

Just lightening in general. Getting it right has been tricky. I've mainly been doing character render however.

yeah i found general lighting to be tricky, but, for me its just a matter of what looks best. Are you using the iray or 3delight renderer?
