• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Little Help? Guys?

Hey folks!

I posted this over at FF, and so I thought I better post here too - more knowledge per member here (if you know what I mean...)

Im having a wee spot of bother with MS3D and was hoping someone could lend a helping hand?

Problem is; the bloody thing wont register!!?!??

I previously had MS3D 1.7.5 when I liked in the UK, bought a legit license and all was good...

Now I have 1.7.10 - but it wouldn't register with my old license... Ok, I thought... I moved from the UK to Norway - maybe its an international thing... so I forked out for a new license... same problem... Wont save, import or export... says to run MS3D for 2 mins until its registered... So I did that... no joy... So I ran it for 15 mins... STILL no joy...

I seem to remember Ash had a similar problem? Anyone know if he fixed it?

Oh, Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit... if that makes any difference?

Thanks in advance!!:D

Also, sorry if it is in the wrong section... I think this is the place, but you never know, am I right?

No problem at all, but I moved it to Modding&Editing.

This is a strange bug, indeed. I assume you have tried Copy&Paste to enter the code?

Maybe you should report it on the Milkshape website. I guess they can help you out best, since they programmed it :)

They are doing a new licence system where you have to buy a new licence for the new MS3D. I don't have the time to go into this, but take a look on their site.

My experience with MS3D is if you have a license for 1.5.X or higher, it will work on all higher versions all the way up to the current 1.8.5 Beta version.

What version of windows are you on? If it is Windows Vista or Windows 7, then you need to do 2 things to address this.

1.) Make sure your Windows user account has Administrator access.

2.) DO NOT install MS3D in "Program Files" (eg: C:\Program Files\Milkshape 3D 1.7.5)!!! Install directly to your Harddrive. During installation, it will ask you what path to install it to. Use the Browse button and change it to C: (or whichever drive letter your main Harddrive is) and then continue the install. Once the install is complete, your Milkshape should be in C:\Milkshape 3D 1.7.5 (or whichever version of Milkshape you choice). Once complete, Launch Milkshape, and register it and then close before playing with it. I usually reboot my system to avoid registry errors as well.

Once you do that, you should have a registered MS3D.

Hmmm - not in program files...

Sounds like a good idea to me - but Im on W7 64 bit... i thought all 32 bit programs had to be installed to program files(x86) or something like that? Or can I get away with going straight to c:\ ?
