Hey all its been a long while since I stopped and desided to model but today I did and I would like to present to you all my latest creation (albeit in alpha stage)

First off is a picture from in the modeler showing a four way prospective off the model:

And next are two shots done using the clay rendering technique -RJB- taught me (Thanks again -RJB-):

And their you have it thus far. I would like to point out that I am still very poor at modeling so I don't expect much heh, still its relaxing and I enjoy displaying my work.

Thanks all for reading and thanks again to anyone whom leaves a comment :)

When you do the clay render did you set all lights in the scene to 0% light intensity? Seems a bit washed out.

Good to see you back doing some modeling.

Looks like a Z-95 mixed with a little BSG Viper. Though in an alpha stage, I do see the potential of the design. Approve!

Well a little update:

Um i have gotten rid of the spherical tail as that was really just the end of the sphear I used to get the shape lol.

Um I have tried to flatten the nose a bit and have added to inlets on either side of the 'cone' which is a starting point of detail lol.

Engines are a pain for me but thats gonna be my main focus for the next couple of days. I got the LW help book (Huge amount of pages so that should help heh) and should laern how to add circles to squares.

um I moved the **** pits roof a little as it all looks so sharp, I will bevel it all out after the main shape comes together.

Also i hated the wings lol, I still kinda do but for now they are place holders, regardless I do prefer them shorter than longer and I'll probably come up with a wing design which is short in future.

Well here are some screenies k, thanks again for reading and all your comments (those above and possible new ones heh)

P.S. Um -RJB- I am gonna look again in layout, I must have mist a light settings, can't remember how to control an individual lights preferences k thanks for pointing that out.

I am liking this a great deal. I like the clay renderings. The design is very clean and spare. It has a classical elegance about it which reminds me of the cover art on all those great old science fiction pulp magazines from the Thirties and Forties.

Yeah, what he said - like a Flash Gordon rocket or similar... the lines are very clean - theres no unecesarry greebles (or what ever the modeling guys call it) its different, its nice, I like it.

You dont seem to be such a n00b to modeling - not with work like this:thumbsup:

I really see the BSG Viper references... what way are you planning to take the model? towards a more modern sci-fi look (BSG, Trek etc...) or maybe more old school, like in Flash Gordon / Steam Punk etc..

PS: what is the poly count so far? also, what is lightwave like to use, say when compared to MS3d? (sorry for the off topic - if you want to answer, you can PM me... I hate thread jackers...;))

Thanks Thunderfoot and -RJB-.

When I get back from Uni tonight I'm gonna give it some time, I got to finish my assignment first (hands in tomorrow and I need to bring my groups work together) but after that i'm going to do some serious modeling.

I was taking a look at the renders I did and it kind of reminds me of the Vehicles on Wipeout fusions (or one of its predecessors, I have one of the first for Dos still lol) I like the simplicity of the design and I hope to have it remain a simple yet more detailed design (if ya get what i mean)

Anywho I shall have some more pics in a couple of days tops. Im finally starting to remember the commands to do this and that and keyboard shortcuts etc.

Thanks again for the comments :)

P.S. Just read your reply lol

Um I will get a poly count next time I upload the renders heh and as for the way forward, I'd like to try a old school design because well you gave me the idea lol. I am very gratefull for your praise of my work and as for what Lightwave is like. Um I started with Blender so it took me ages to get used to the layout etc and it uses to programs (that i have seen) One for the modeling (named modeler) and one for setting scene and rendering (called layout), I haven;t used any other modeler sorry so I cannot actually give an unbiased oppinion but I like it and you can use -RJB-'s work as examples of what you can do with it (On eof my aspirations is to create as fine a work as him)

So sorry for the carry on their lol, I hope this helped and thanks again.

Ok everyone Ive done some modeling and i am quie proud of this beta stage model. Its changed alot as I haev decided to go down to roots. One being a futuristic fighter and the other being a retro old school look that my alpha model was starting to look like. I did some doodling during uni and have made this futuristic model that I think looks awesome lol but well thats just me.

I put a lot of hard work into this model and I hope it shows okdokie. So as always I will start with a four prospective screen shot and then a few clay renders of the model. Hope you like them.

I do not know if you are familiar with it, but, during the late Seventies/early Eighties there was a television show called Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Your new design is very interesting and has some elements and styling cues which would make it fit right into the SFX shots from this show very well. I like it. Looks like someone strapped a pair of Godawful huge weapons to the smallest possible airframe which could carry them and be mobile.

BTW, The show I mentioned is TV SCiFi at its most awful. The four episodes featuring the Crown Princess, Ardala, are so terribly over the top, they are my favorites. The only parts of the show I can watch without cringing or guffawing are the SFX shots. As usual, there are never enough of these and they were recycled shamelessly by the producers.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering if I actually like really bad TV SciFi or not, all I can say is: "Thunder! Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! Ho!" :lol2:

Lol thanks for the comments although the wing bits aren't weapons lol. It was just some crazy design I doodled in class lol. However taking another look at the I think I should flatten them a bit and bring the tubes a little further out so you can see em. I don't know lol, I have some more to do on the body (pilots area) work now anywho, Thanks for the comments again they have helped me a lot, those godawfull wings have got to change hehehe.
