Yesterday was International Volunteer Day.
Around the world volunteers work for zero money to make this world a bit better and a bit safer.
Additionaly to official, governmental and national services voluntary organizations provide aid to people who need it.
But not only that.
Here is what volunteers do around the world:
- geriatric care
- child care (including school work, helping with homeworks, daycare, mothers and fathers renovating their kid's schools, supporting school festivitis etc)
- care and life support for handicapped people
- psychological crisis intervention teams
- development aid in countries of the third world and in warzones
- civil protection/disaster control/emergency managment
- work in sport clubs
- medics at larger festivities...
and the list goes on and on and on.
A lot of the things volunteers do is nearly unnoticed until somebody is in need of one of the above mentioned services, so this is a very good place to say:
THANK YOU!
