I have kinda fallen off the modding career. And I think I'll make a return. I am gonna focus on a personal mod. I may release content but it is not within the visible future. I will however need minor assistance on behalf of my return to modding. Odf editing and texturing are within my abilities but I will require node maps for content that I plan to add. Because my node editing software that I relied on before is incompatible with W7 (64-bit) and I don't want to have to pay big cash for a modeling program yet.
I will post screenies and complications and barriers I come across in the process. And feed back is appreciated. For now, all I have is my barebone concept that I am constructing.
Game Mechanics
- Remove Blackholes, and Wormholes from usage in the game as they have been a source of lag and numerous bugs
- Decelerate the overall physics of the game allowing for more realistic battles. Ships that were meant to be fast will be relatively fast. But you can think of FO as an example of the physics.
- Replace all nebulae and spacial objects with non-stock (FF apparently is fragmented up so I'll need to get material second hand)
- Redo the balance to better simulate real Trek
Races and Gameplay
- I'll try to build unique techtrees for each race that fits their overall style
- I am definitely gonna remove the Borg and replace them with the Dominion
- I would have various NPCs... but not primarily until the main races are done
Federation:
I plan on having the Federation as a Defensive and Recon Oriented Race. Smaller ships will be maneuverable compared to their counter parts and special weapons will focus on the defensive end of things. Research will be at a moderate speed (they'll set the relative standard in build times). And construction speed will be moderate. They will have an abundance of science vessels with each their own purpose.
Klingons:
For the Klingons I think of them to be Militaristic. As a result, their weapons will be strong, and ships will be produced faster. Research will be slow and stations will be costly. And Klingons backbones of the fleet will be their cruisers.
Romulans:
The Romulans I believe will be a race of hide and snipe. Cloaking Devices and counteractive ships will be their backbones as they have ships that aim for a particular group but suffer in combat outside of their focus. Research would be significantly faster and you will require an intricate fleet in order to win. Most vessels and turrets will have range advantages to their counterparts.
Cardassians:
The Cardassians are a people who focus on infrastructure. Stations will be very durable and strong. But their vessels would be rather generic in weaponry. Special Weapons would be few, and Research would be slow.
Dominion:
The Dominion are a people who focus on quantity over quality. There would be a few selections of vessels and Destroyers and Battleships would be paired together with opposite benefits.

I am uncertain what approach I'll have with these.
