• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello, I joined up yesterday. I'm a UK fan of Star Trek Armada and Fleet Operations (go by a very old username 'T-Man' in that community and it's discord, and a few old Armada II places).

Tend to lurk a lot of the time but have been getting into ODF making this lately (particularly for Fleet Ops), and you might one day see models from me if I get my head around blender (and work out how to texture for toffee!). Heard of MSFC a few times through some old names I've played the mods of over the years (Major Payne's Borg Incursion 2 and Wrath of Achilles' Art of War), so thought I'd find and join up.

Welcome (Back)!

That's basically how I heard of MSFC. It kept cropping up on a few downloads and thought "I wonder if they're still around?"

As Terra said, feel free to reach out to the community if you need help or where to get resources.

Hello:
Welcome to MSFC! .
I do remember seeing you lurking, very cool to see an introduction! As for modding, I have done proper modding in years, only 3d modelling  .

Thanks everyone for the welcomes, and sorry for the delay saying so. Shall definitely pop up my projects when they're in sharable states. At the moment I've been doing ODFs using existing models (from in-game or from packs that say people are welcome to use them) while I work out modelling.

A first pet project for learning the ODFs was tweaking FO's Prometheus, stuff like weapons and size (FO originally had the model Sovereign-sized, but according to a lot of lore sources it's smaller than the Akira!). I remembered the old FO devs saying they were unsure how to use the ship and it's a fav Fed ship of mine, so was a chance to learn ODFing and try out some possible set-ups for it.

It is working in-game but the stats need a lot of tweaking for proper balance (vision at the moment is a map-unit/one only 'big ship hunter', more reliant on speed and rapid shield regeneration than on raw shields/hull).

A lifesaver has been some data tools by an FO modder named Tryptic that can automate creating a lot of the ODF elements (like calculating and adding in the FO damage variables; does in minutes what would take months by hand), so hope to use that for creating a few 3.2.7 FO ship ideas soon (their first tool did stats for their own mod, but they have one for vanilla 3.2.7 in the works).

Cool stuff! Always loved the Prometheus . If you are looking for any advice, it does look like the alpha channel on the prometheus texture is messed up a bit. Looks like the whole ship is glowing instead of just the windows and lighting.
