Well I got a chance to finally play Halo 3 and well the graphics, gameplay and all that was impressive I was disappointed with the storyline. It was much weaker than I expected. I preferred the storyline of H1 and H2 compared to H3.

Like at the end of the game
It says that 117 was killed but we never saw it happen.

Also the game only took me like 7 hours to complete on easy, it took me twice as long on that setting for H2 and H1.

To me it seems that they did a real quick job on it and make the game shorter and sacrificed on the storyline.

To me the game was a let down, what do the rest of you think?

Well, I haven't had a chance to play it. But I've seen that before, with older games. Like Contra...:)

yeah its a very good game! Alot more cinematic than the previous two. The end still leaves you hanging much like the second one, but also could really be the end of the series. Master Cheif returns to the state he came out of in the first game. overall I thought it was very good, though the new flood did become quite annoying :)

I just found the story overall lacking. All the other aspects were great. I would of liked to see more joint Elite/Human against Covenant battles. Plus more Earth based battles. They invaded Earth and yet very little Earth levels were in there.

Oh yes those new flood were a pain in the backside. I just really love my plasma sword when dealing with those guys. I personally have never been a fan of the flood, always found battling the covenant more fun.

I hated the fact that the game was so short. But Bungie has announced that this is the end of the Halo series... That doesn't mean that we've seen the last of Master Chief. ;)

Really the only redeeming factor to Halo 3 is the multiplayer as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with Majestic though, they did seem to skimp on the story line.

Yes it was too short. Another full 3 or 4 stages would of made it much better. I have yet to play multiplayer get, may tee the mates up in a few weekends time. :)

Your right there.

All three of my roommates have played Halo 3, they enjoyed the little bit they played but none of us own a 360 nor the game so we don't have the opportunity to go through it beginning to end... That said I've not had the chance myself to play it, and I'm starting to not regret it. Just the things I've heard about the story and the gameplay make it seem like the Multiplayer XBOX live/system link was the main focus of 90% of Bungie instead of the Single player aspect...

I didnt like there only being a small bit on earth.
There should have been a big battle similar to the one in the "belive" adverts.

I agree with Cylon, didn't seem much like an invasion to me, the Covenant would of only arrived mere hours before the Master Chief and the story starts off straight after Halo 2, so come come Commander Keyes, Arbiter and Sergent Johnson are already on Earth, they were still on Halo at the end of Halo 2.

To me the storyline wasn't thought through enough.

That's because halo 3 doesn't start immediately after 2... There are a series of comics coming out that bridge the gap. It's something like 2 or 3 weeks...

So has the chief just been lying in the jungle all that time not moving.

No... Obviously that wasn't the forerunner ship that he fell from if it's been that long... I don't know why but it wasn't... The events shown in the John-117 monument, the big model of the Battle for New Mambossa, must have taken place between the end of 2 and the beginning of three...

I don't know, I haven't had the chance to read the comics... But does it really matter? Suffice to say there is a gap, live with it... If you want to know what happens read the comics, Halo: Uprising...

there is now a halopedia out there too,, lots of information on it but no idea of the quality (as I am afraid I don't play the game)

it does however have a good few fun pictures and some direct information from the designers.

The 'Believe' ad campaign was derived from a third party imagination. If you believed that was part of the game, then I fear you may have missed Bungie explaining how it had nothing to do with Halo 3, bar the fact of some relatory points, such as Master Chief, Brutes, marine's and Earth generally being screwed.

As for the story, brilliant. Halo 2's Earth-based levels were boring and they did their best to clean that up in 3. Whilst the Earth levels still weren't as good as The Ark ones, they were certainly very fun. As for completing it quickly on any setting lower than Heroic...well, Bungie have always said Normal and Easy are there, but the game is supposed to be played on Heroic, with Legendary supposed to indicate why the Covenant dominated the battles. I completed Herioc in just shy of 13 hours, with Legendary 2-player co-op in just shy of 10. It's not easy, but it's very fun and the more difficult it is, the more rewarding it becomes.

The story and settings felt a lot more to me as a spiritual successor to 1 rather than 2, and this is definitely good. The trepidation upon entering The Ark similar to the bizarreness of touching soil on Halo. The fact that there were so many reference's chucked into 3 from 1. Whilst the story doesn't have quite as much impact as 1, it's just as good, leaving 2 the odd-one out.

Multiplayer is a real blast and certainly gives Unreal Tournament a run for its money in terms of mental-run-around-shooting genre.

In conclusion, perhaps the game when looked at in parts isn't 10/10, the whole definitely is.

I still personally feel Halo 2 had a much better storyline. Plus Heroic is just way too hard, I struggle getting through on normal and thats with assistance from a friend via co-op.

They could of done so much more with it, but just short cut it too much.

Sorry majest, have to disagree with u there.

didnt like 2 much, storyline wasnt too enthralling (so much so that i cant really remember much aside from the Arbiter) however i did like the fact that u saw life from the "other side" fr once.

One thing I kinda noticed about Halo 2... The 'Normal' difficulty setting could easily be called 'Easy' and 'Heroic' could easily be 'Normal', the only one that I really found difficult was actually 'Legendary' and that took me around 12 hours... The storyline for it was good, not great, but there were some holes missing and other parts that just plain made no sense without some of the extra stuff Bungie threw in with the Collector's Edition DVD...

Just, hopefully, they don't fall into the trend of just churning out poorer and poorer quality games, flooding the market, because of that.

Majestic Just read your first post, not sure if anyone has said it but...

Theres a cut scene after the credits where u see chief and cortana in the back end of the ship, cant explain it, but you shud see it!

I was at the Launch thing in our local game store, and got it (23 minutes past midnight) Came home me and a friend played through it and ur right, about 7 hours of gameplay.

but all in all this was a fitting end!

Or was it...?

Ok, someone showed this to me on YouTube, I think it's what Jeddy is referring to... Please don't watch it unless you want the Legendary ending spoiled...
