Halo gamers will be excited two new Halo games have been announced. The first Halo CE is a revamp of the original Halo, that was a launch title on the Original XBox back in 2002.

It's basically just the original game with an upgraded graphics engines, but uses the same engine as Halo 1 which I personally find a little disappointing. I feel that this game should not sell for anymore than perhaps $40-50AU. However the nice feature is a player will be able to switch from the new graphics to the original ones. At least that is what one of the news articles have said.

Halo 4 is the one to really get excited about, due out in 2012, it started off straight after Halo 3, that's right, the Master Chief is back and it's to kick start a new trilogy, meaning another two games are to follow. This one is really something to get excited about and sure to make many Halo fans happy.

Yes no Bungie, 343 is making these ones. Also with the Covenant and Flood threats over, a new bad guy will need to be introduced. Perhaps the return of the Forerunners (or surviving rogue faction) or something like that may be an option. I know that small factions of the Covenant who don't believe in the treaty could make an appearance, but as the main bad guys they wouldn't work. Plus after 6 years, I think a change would be good to bring in old and new players.

Either way, Halo 4 will make or break the series as I personally believe that Halo 4 will determine whether Halo 5 and 6 will happen and with Bungie out of the picture 343 has some big shoes to fill. Lets hope they bring in the mystery of the original. Something that really was missed in Reach.

Well here's the official trailer:

http://youtu.be/GMhlyDjldwY

From that I'm guessing either Forerunner or Precursor, who knows maybe they'll incorporate what we've learned about the Forerunners & Precursors from Greg Bears' 'Cryptum' novel.

It looks like it's gonna be epic anyway, which is exactly what a game in the Halo franchise needs to be

That was a pretty cool trailer. I just wonder what that huge thing was, it didn't quite seem Forerunner but maybe that was just the lighting.

We'll they've said that MC will be fighting an 'ancient evil' so it could just as easily be Precursor rather than Forerunner, given what we've learned from Greg Bear.

I really can't wait to see what they do with this, hopefully 343 will live up to Bungie's previous work.

Basically, in the Halo 'verse; the Precursors are to the Forerunners as the Forerunners are to Humans. The Forerunners revere the Precursors as their creators, and as the creators of 'the mantle' which is the term they use to refer to their respect for all life in the universe.

I won't say too much here, 'cos it would really spoil the plot of Cryptum for anyone who hasn't read it yet.

There's a tonne of stuff you learn about the Forerunners and the Precursors in Cryptum and I seriously reccommend any Halo fan reads it, it's one of the best sci-fi novels I've ever read.

Thanks, I might have to get into them, I have enough new Trek books coming to keep me busy at least up to November.

 See I've always been more into the Halo books than the Trek ones. Halo just has a much bigger sense of scope to me I think. Plus the Halo books are all considered canon so everything in them (which for the most part is very good) is officially part of the Halo universe.

So yeah I'd say if you have the time & energy to read them then do it, there aren't nearly as many Halo books as there are Trek ones, so it wouldn't take you as long. Honestly I think you're missing out on a big part of the Halo universe by not reading the books, there's loads of little details in the games you won't notice unless you've read the books as well.

I for one was surprised at all the "out of left field moments" at E3 this year. The new Nintendo system, a Zelda game (technically just a tech demo) that actually looks like effort went into it, and of course the surprise teaser of Halo 4. I for one am really excited about the game and I agree it will make or break the future of the series. If they get really creative with it, introduce a new enemy, and basically take Master Chief away from humanity it will open up a whole bunch of new possibilities and fresh ideas. New weapons, new environments, and most importantly a new antagonistic force. However, if they go the other way and try to resurrect the Covenant or/and the Flood as threats and basically revert to the old weapons then I'll feel that the game will be a monumentally huge missed opportunity. Regardless of the ups and downs in the Halo series, the games have always been fun and I have no doubt this one will be.

Agreed. They've pretty much got a blank slate to work with in regards to enemies, weapons, maps e.t.c. so hopefully they'll take advantage of that. 343 has done some impressive Halo stuff in the past, so fingers crossed they'll go all out now that they've got a whole game (or 3 games) to work with.

I wouldn't mind seeing some sign of the truce between the Covenant and Humanity, but I think the Flood should be left alone now given the way Halo 3 ended, including them again would just feel like flogging a dead horse I think.

It really depends on how much time MC is away from Humanity/Earth for, if they keep him on his own through the whole thing then the creative possibillities are pretty much limitless.

So yeah as with all things like this, we just have to cross our fingers and hope they don't screw it up

At most I think they could include a ship from Earth that disappeared early in the Covenant war so you can at least still use some Human weapons. Other than that I agree he should have contact with Earth till at least the 2nd or third game.

But it would be nice to see some Covenant, Grunts etc working alongside the MC. But I agree the Flood should not return unless they decided to do another prequel down the track. I do hope they end up doing a game down the track that portrays the adventures of Jun from Reach and maybe Nobel 6, as technically we never say him get killed, he only lost his helmet. Maybe incorporate it into Halo 5 or 6 might be a nice tactic. As long as it is done right.

However I do hope they manage to capture the feel of the original Halo when we first played it back in 2002. :)

That thing opening at the end of the video looked like one of those thruster/docking ports on the outerside of the ring of a HALO. I feel a bit lazy to take a screen shot and upload to photobucket right now but might do it later.
