It has been reported that there will be a Children In Need Doctor Who special and it relates to the spoiler revealed recently by Sylvester McCoy and will be written by Steven Moffat. This has yet to be confirmed.

Since the series relaunch in 2005, this is the second Children In Need Doctor Who Special. The first was in 2005 in the lead-up to David Tennant's formal debut in The Christmas Invasion.

The coming Children In Need Doctor Who special will broadcast in the UK on November 16.

The latest TV WEEK (in Australia) has its staff being asked the question of "Which famous character or person from history would you like Doctor Who to meet?"

Among the responses were Maxwell Smart, Mr Spock, Tom Baker (!), Hitler's father so the Doctor can stop Hitler's conception(!!), Dr Seuss, Princess Diana, Arthur Dent, Santa Claus and Albert Einstein.

Just asking here. What is DW up to in season wise. They are showing the 2nd season here in the states on the Sci-Fi channel. I realize that DW is a British show by origin. So, what season are they in over in the UK and elsewhere? One of the latest Eps that I've had time to watch (about 3 weeks ago or so) was DW girlfriend was abducted in an underground city. There was a giant dying head using his life-force energy to power this city. The above-ground city was wiped out by a virus. In the end, that Head said at the end of the Ep that DW was not that last on of his kind.

So, where am I as far as watching the current DW series? I think it's season 2...

The episode you refer to is Gridlock which is episode 3 of the 2007 season.

Having finished the 2007 season, UK viewers won't be seeing the parent Doctor Who show until this year's Children In Need special followed by the Christmas special. They will however be seeing in the meantime the full series of spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I see. Thank you.

Now, if I may pick your brain a bit more, I do have some questions. First, let me say, I have not been able to watch every episode. I usually catch one here then one there.

1.) Why did they change actors that play DW?
2.) What happened to the blonde girl that DW had with him. I was really fond of her. Now there is this new gal. I'm not sure what to make of her yet.
3.) Do all the past series relate to this current series, as in a chronlogical order, or is this like the new BSG, "re-envisioned"?

Since I got on here to see this before TS I will try and answer them, though TS is much more of an expert than me.

1. The 9th doctor had a contract that expired and he didn't decided to renew it. So they casted David Tennant as the new doctor. When the Doctor dies he transforms into a new version of himself but can only do it so many times. He is currently on this 10th version of himself.

2. It happened in the last episodes of season 2 (32). She got trapped in an alternative dimension with her mother, former boyfriend and her father of that dimension. The actor decided she no longer wanted to be in Doctor who. The new companion of the doctor is quite good, just give her time. ;)

3. Its on going, like Star Trek the previous seasons and doctors are mentioned throught the new seasons. Right back to season one back in the 40 or 50 whenever it was first created.

Thank you all. That helps me a lot.

So, In the UK, shows on the Tele don't contract thier actors "long-term". Oh well, I like this newer Doctor better.:p

I'm starting to get more interested in DW. And soon, Torchwood starts here. They call it "BBC America".

The Sydney Morning Herald Guide has reported that the Australian ABC has bought The Ruby In The Smoke & The Shadow In The North. They are based on the books by Philip Pullman and it stars Billie Piper as Sally Lockhart. This was the role she played after Rose Tyler in Doctor Who.

Broadcast date as yet unknown.

Found out from DWM 375 today that The Ruby In The Smoke also features Hayley Atwell who was a guest star in the Paul McGann BBC7 radio adventure Blood of the Daleks.

Last night I finished watching the Colditz TV movie and it featured the following Who stars:
The two Myles who have appeared in the current version of Doctor Who- Sophia and Eve and Big Finish guest stars James Fox, Timothy West and Charles Kay.

Also I noticed the name Pertwee [as in Third Doctor Jon Pertwee] appearing on a desk in one scene and a leading character was called Jack Rose. This was originally shown in 2005 the same year Rose and Jack was first introduced in Doctor Who.

In fact there had been a Doctor Who story made on audio by Big Finish released four years earlier in October 2001 set at Colditz and also simply titled Colditz. Coincidentally this story featured the Doctor Who debut of one David Tennant.

To Australian viewers:
Last night while waiting for ABC News saw the ABC Summer ad and the programs that got included was The Vicar of Dibley. I have not seen The Vicar of Dibley before but I am guessing that this is the final season that the ABC is about to show. The final episode is definitely of interest to Doctor Who fans-
From TV.com:
"As the villagers take their individual jobs for the wedding, Alice becomes the stylist for the wedding. The theme of the wedding is the surprisingly non-traditional, "Doctor Who"."

I recently saw the only surviving episode of the original A For Andromeda, episode 6 The Face of the Tiger from the Andromeda Anthology DVD release.

The serial involved some Who names including Doctor Who director Michael Hayes and frequent guest star Peter Halliday who did the commentary on the said episode. Hayes and Halliday slipped in three Doctor Who references during the commentary. Hayes mentioned the Doctor Who Annual and the use of the computer sounds in the episode is one he would later used in a Doctor Who serial he directed (from memory I am guessing the season 16 closer The Armageddon Factor). The final Doctor Who reference has Halliday saying "reverse the polarity of the neutron flow." This was a phrase that was first used by Third Doctor Jon Pertwee.

To Australian viewers:
This coming Saturday December 15, 7 is showing the 2007 TV movie of Marco Polo at 8:30pm for almost three and a half hours. Marco Polo should be of interest to Doctor Who fans as there is a Doctor Who serial that bears the famous explorer's name. The 2007 TV movie of course has nothing to do with Doctor Who so don't expect the Doctor to turn up.

This movie stars Ian Somerhalder (Lost) and it has not been given good reviews. So I mention this movie here if anyone chooses to see it as a result of liking the Doctor Who serial.

While watching Torchwood: Everything Changes just hours ago on UKTV+2, UKTV ran a promo of a show that is coming soon called Friday Night Project. Looks like a variety show and I spotted David Tennant. Given David's presence I am thinking that Doctor Who references are unavoidable in this show.

What I liked about it is that Alice looked really really handsome dressing up as the Tennant Doctor and what a surprise that two bridesmaid were dressed as Daleks.

This was directed by Ed Bye and this is not the first time that he used the Daleks in a project that he has worked on. Bye was producer and director of Red Dwarf and he hired a couple of Daleks to appear in the Red Dwarf documentary Red Dwarf A-Z.

Hey why not have Bye work on the real thing by having something to do on the current Doctor Who TV series or at least one of its spin-offs.

I recently got all the episodes of the original series of Survivors created by Dalek creator Terry Nation and the commentary for the first episode The Fourth Horseman has a Doctor Who reference.

This was due to the appearance of Peter Copley as moderator Andy Priestner remarked that the character that he played was similiar to Dr Warlock in Doctor Who: Pyramids of Mars which he said was broadcast in the same year as the Survivors episode (1975).

Alex Kingston, Steve Pemberton and Colin Salmon will all be in Steven Moffat's two parter in season 34, the first of two episodes being titled Silence In the Library.

Last night saw the CSI: NY episode in which a time machine is found in which one character Flack said "Paging Doctor Who" and the episode even included a TARDIS like sound effect.

Also I have finished listening to the commentary for The Tomorrow People: Worlds Away, Part 1: Secret of the Pyramid in which moderator Nick Briggs noticed that one of the extras was Pat Gorman and the reason he said why he knows him is that Gorman did a lot of Doctor Who and that he (Briggs) is a sad Doctor Who fan!

In TV Doctor Who, a companion would travelled with more than one Doctor as a result of the Doctor's regeneration (the last case being at the end of season 31 when Rose saw the Ninth Doctor regenerating into the Tenth). For audio companion Charley Pollard she is now travelling with her second Doctor but not in the way one would expect.

Charley as played by India Fisher was the companion to Eighth Doctor Paul McGann including in the seasons I have accepted as seasons 27 to 30. In an audio I have not yet listened to Charley leaves the Eighth Doctor in The Girl That Never Was last year. I have now learnt in a recent release The Condemned, Charley is now travelling with.....the Sixth Doctor. It is usually the case of a companion travelling with a later Doctor but this is completely the other way around!

Just seen The Cult of Survivors. This is a documentary on BBC4 in 2006 about Survivors created by Terry Nation and it included a brief Doctor Who reference. First with him being the creator of the Daleks which showed a picture of him with his famous creation before showing a clip from Genesis of the Daleks.
