• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

This is something I never noticed before, but in the BSG miniseries, a Firefly transport (from the series of the same name, and Serenity) is observed flying past a window - if i recall correctly its the doctors office where we find out that Roslin had cancer. It can be seen on youtube via searching for "firefly in galactica" for anyone who is interested.

This is presumably because both shows used the same special effects house.

I'd link to it, but thats against site rules if i understand them correctly.

If I'm not terribly mistaken there is also a shot of the original Enterprise as part of the Rag tag fleet in at least one episode.

Your both right, I saw both when the show just came out. I recall seeing the firefly the first or second time I saw the series and the 1701 is in the ragtag fleet in one episode. Can't remember which but it's there.

well, the firefly part was because it was the same FX house, though im not sure that explains the 1701. must be an injoke.

1701, two words Ron Moore. He was involved with Trek for a very long time.

Hello:
You are correct Majestic, they putted the Enterprise as a homage.
Here's a link to the pic thanks to the Battlestar wiki page:

I know this is off-topic, but it also reminds me that the Millenium Falcon appeared in the battle against the Borg at the beginning of First Contact. Maybe the same type of inside jokes in this case too.

Yes it was an inside joke to do with Ron Moore. He had spent years as a Star Trek writter, both books and TV series/Movies.

I remember seeing it somewhere, thanks for the link ChileTrek.

Actually, the Firefly insertion was a tribute to a show far too quickly and too stupidly cancelled.

The 1701 was as noted a poke at Ron Moore. Well deserved, since he wrote most of my favourite episodes of TNG and DS9. :D

I suppose its not inconseivable that firefly and galactica take place in the same universe. What was left of Earth during firefly?

during firefly earth "that was" was unable to support life so the two remaining superpowers (America and China) expanded throughout the galaxy.

Yeah, but how cool would it be if one of the Raptor crews came back to Galactica after a recon mission, carrying four boxes of something called "DVDs".....

but would perhaps render the entire show mute lol.

On the other hand, we didnt really see any other alien races in firefly that i recall, just mutated humans (the reapers) - so in theory, same universe could be made to work lol
