Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.
On another note i've decided that i will post my lil mod updates on this thread as well. Kinda useless to start another thread since i only upload it when i get the chance to get a break from school lol. I wont post the entire story line AGAIN...3rd site but i'll keep updates once in a while
Started work on this mod a month ago and got the designs from another game. Now i decided to challage myself and due the models my self i got a lot of em done..then trashed 'em. Didnt find them up to snuff and started from scratch.
So here is a base/carrier ship for the mod as seen in the other game
this isnt the only pic but i didnt feel like uploading more
here is my new model...about 1/2 hr of work..sad aint it
but this is the basics...still have to add the engines weapons etc. Changed the airlocks only because if they where like that (other pic) i wanted the animated to be able to open once a ship was launched, but since only one could open for repair and building thought it would be better to just use the as weapon strips.
just a quick one..started on the engines really giving consideration to not adding the front most piece and moving the generators back (the for grey things up front)

pollies stand at 2116 im cappin' all carriers/heros at 3000...maybe 3500 max seeing as there will only be 8 max on any map at once.
That's some pretty good modelling FG, however have you deleted all hidden pollies? I ask because I think looking at the design that the model shouldn't be that high on the poly count.
no i tend to deleate all hidden pollies last before i regroup the peices, but i do plan on doing that. i dont b/c i tend to change my mind and move things around....causes a pain when i have to remake a section cause i deleted somin. but once im happy i go to work and thank you

nah its a private release for specific reasons im modding it and seeing if i can release it as a MU type mod. think everybody's A1 needs a revamp
SIDENOTE: The Carrier model i have changed some of the parts (prefectionist kicked in) and i got a much cleaner looking model with 2260 pollies and decided to deviate from the orginal model some what, no front part. its getting late here so i get some pics tmrw
That's a stunning picture, both with that beautiful pulsar/black hole (correct me if I'm wrong) and my favorite Starfleet ship class of all time; The Sovereign.
I ask for permission to use it as my new desktop.
and TADAA!!! my first ship model that doesnt suck! 3665 pollies (not fully done reducing still getting a hang of it) As i said i ditched the final parts in order to make this look like a more mean brute. in my opinion the One from drift is a lil light handed and looks like a normal carrier.
Also plan on changing the texture colors to a darker grey...maybe some black idk.
the "dents" in the front of the ship are kinda the same thing as the nacells on a star ship in in use but they will show the flow of energy most likely a red which lead to to foward battery (got ****ed the pirates where the only ones without a major battery to pound the **** outta other hero ships)
the 4 on the back are gonna be green/light blue for the transfer of energy to the engines

I can say that I like the design, is different to one can normally see (in my case that is not only Star Trek, but also BSG, Andromeda, Farscape and Starship Troopers). I am also liking how you did the inlet designs, they can be tricky so you must plan how to do them very well.

(j/k) I have grown accustomed to your style and like it very much. Looking at your pics always gives me good ideas for my own or ideas for a mod. Waiting for new FG pics will only make my enjoyment of them stronger.
On the way TF give me some time i got a few new games (well new for me not so much everyone else)
But i did get some modeling in this week...today really and this model took me all of 5 mins stands at a 1075 pollies (not reduced should be able to shave of a 100 or so....maybe...and while writing this knocked it down to 1025 lol)

Brief History:
Humans have achieved faster than light travel shock: i'll let that soak in...okay movin on) though the use of Jump Gates [think wormholes...except man made] and have expanded for the last 200 years. In those 200 years there where 2 was the Eugenics war and the Independance war [there where others but the developers gave us zero info on them] Causing the creation of the 3 different Empires of which splinter cells created a Pirate empire on Par with the three other major empires.
Done~apologize for the poor history but that was all that was given
[in the Process of writing a fan fiction taking place in the present era where the mod is to take place explaing the other battles...leaves me a wide open field to mess with ]
Gameplay- Planning on chaging the basis of A2 to a point. Will use the A2 PP by Flops. Unlike some of the mods that have been made the Trading sytem will be very important seeing as resources are gonna be exreamly scarce. As such your Trading routes are gonna be a vital blood line and the enemy's are gonna be your main targets early on. Now here is somin new...frieghters are gonna be limited the more advance the less max. number you can build. The basic ones that are slow and weak as mess are gonna be free *cough* CANNON FODDER! *cough* the more advance ones with shielding, heavy hull and quick are gonna be expensive and few so you arent gonna send them to frontline. Escorts are gonna be important as well. Planets are gonna go back to A1 format, but the will have orbital bases for trading and building some of the bigger ships, for those maps that have planets if they dont then its simple, free floating T.P.
The measures for countering fighters are Cutters. All races have cutters some more than others...again more later on. These are equiped with some nasty weapons and are far stonger than any fighter able to destroy one in a few seconds if it takes no evasive actions. Above cutters are destroyers...Nasty beast cannot be destroyed by a single fighter..or small wing would take a squadron to destroy these things. Next up is everybody favorite. Capital ships (3 outta 4 races have 'em) takes 4-7 cutters (depending on the Capital ship). And these you one get 1 of if you lose it...your dead seeing as these build the fighters and you need them for destroyers. No more dilthium. Resorces are metal, generators, and weapons.

Weapons~
-Shields- these are gonna vary from ship to ship.
--Stactic (Lvls 1-5)- The lower ships have static shields, meaning no recharge rate and only can be repaired at bases and Trading stations (maybe Capital ships idk yet) Level 6 shilds rival some dynamic shields
--Dynamic (lvls 1-6)- Some fighter classes get these shields. Cutters and up will have these.
*Note: Capital ships DO NOT HAVE SHIELDS, they have hulls that would make a Cube look like a ship made of jello.*
-Polar banks
-lvls 1-5- more a pulse phaser than a turrent these badies range from low shield and hull damgae to high shield and hull damage depending on the level.
-Level 6- assigned only to Destroyers and Capital ships. 5 Shots on any fighter.
~Almost prefect accuracy~
*note- if you didnt get it dont attack Capital ships with anything less than wing of Destroyes and a squadron of Cutters...and Fighters as DEFENCE!*
Tachyon guns-
Lvl 1 only - Only of fighters and Cutters goes though shields and hits the hull head on. Very possible to destroy a cutter without ever hitting the shields
~quick recharge...horrible accuracy about 50-60% hit chance~
Rockets-
lvl 1-3- range low to high 1-3 repectivly
~prefect accuracy but reloading times vary depending on strengths~
torpedos 1-3- go from high to demolition. WORST ACCURACY! only good against cutters (even then Hit chance is 50) Destroyers (hit chance jumps to 80) and for those of you with the rocks i'll give you 100% hitchance on capital ships
~reloading time go from slow to ~
Specials
Rose Rockets-only good against Kiltens (Concept) causes one rocket to split into 4 smaller rockets and goes after nearest enemy 100 percent hit chance.
MINES- not gonna bother explain'
polar traps- drops polar accuracy from attacking ships to 0 for 10 seconds (good for escaping ALL fighters have this weaker ones can use it more often)
rocket traps- does the same for rockets for 20 seconds (again same as polar traps)
repair system- repairs systems for as long as special engery last
target memory- messes up enemy scanners for 30 seconds and lets you hack their scanners INCREASING your range.
Rocket boost (concept)- Pushes a ship to the edge of light travel only last 30 seconds and once activated you CAN NOT change course, very risky as you lose engines for 5 seconds after words. only escape measure

~Beatle fighter Varient 1- Very Lightly armed and defended earliest fighter available. 4 polar banks 1 rocket bank. Armed with 4x lvl 1 polar banks and 1x lvl 1 rockets. As well as a target memory and Rocket boost. Static lvl 1 shield
~Varient 2- Same body different armament; 2x level 2 polar banks, 2x tachyon turrents, and 1x Torpedo lvl 1. Static lvl 2

~Shadow Fighter v1- Interceptor class fighter (another special sub class). 3x lvl 4 polar banks, 2 Rocket launchers lvl 2. Dynamic shields lvl 3

*Compared to the other races H.S has the strongest ships, why? Because it has no Capital ship or carrier all ships come from Topaz base. H.S. is the only race with a base. Downside...few cutters...like 2 lol*

Frieghters- (none are armed)
~Samson- basic freighter fairly good but no shields
MAX. buildable - Unlimited
~Rainbow- 2nd stage freighter quicker than the Samson and shielded. Weak Hull
Max buildable - 5
~Raider- 3rd stage freighter shields, medium hull, and average speed (ignore the pic for hull, im right )
max buildable- 4
~Exodus- 4th stage freighter, good shields, hull, speed

~Big moon- final freighter needed to build beast and Shadow fighters, why? cause stronger ships need better weapons
*to balance out the sides H.S is the only one who needs certain freighters to build a the next lvl fighters, as long as the proper reasearch is already done.*

if i can get someone to do the alpha textures and then secure permissions, of course. Its already fully hardpointed (least in my definition) some 75 weapon hardpoints and about another 75 station hit points the rest are a mix of both weapon hardpoints and hull hi points that wont be used in the release but are there in case some one want to move things around. Repairs, docks, build the whole 9 yards lol (of course it is a Starbase lol)
