• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

So I thought we'd have a mild winter this year but noooo, in walks the Early 2012 European cold wave. We're reaching about -20° at night here, and I don't want to know how cold it is farther east. Over 400 reported deaths all over Europe due to these temperatures, and it's still getting worse.

Went for a walk yesterday. Everything looks like frakking Skyrim. :x

 Wow. I haven't even gotten a legitimate snow fall here. I hear they are talking about global cooling in Europe now too.

Stay Safe, and warm guys. :salute:

Have one on me! :D

Hello:
I think that has to be in Celsius because I have been reading some news about this cold wave.

As Adm_Z said, please stay warm everybody, I wish I could send you some of the heat we are having here in Chile, that would help compensate things :lol2: .

I feel you pain Terra and can recall time when I was in upstate New York when it was -29°C or -20.2 °F

But to be safe here are some thing to be on the look out for to avoid a cold weather injury

In Budapest the temperature is between -15 and -20 for the fifth day. My poor family...
Here in Lyon it's only -3 or -8, but the wind is very strong all day, so it's really a killer. Even in my room, I'm cold all day.

I don't know if this winter is really colder than the last one. This one just came later and the temperatures dropped very fast.
Here in Berlin we also had temperatures around -20°C at night, but it was never colder than -12°C during daytime.

The first thing that happened after it got really cold was my car breaking down. Now I have to use public transport to get to my work in Brandenburg (the state around Berlin) and it takes at least the double amount of time and is much less relaxing.
But of course that is nothing against over 400 dead people due to hypothermia. :(
In the Ukraine the Civil Protection units put up tents with heating on the streets so people could warm up while waiting for the bus. Here in Berlin the BVG (Berlin Public transport) opened several subway stations for homeless people to sleep over night and the soup kitchens are overrun in the evening. Unfortunatey no-one wants to pay for renting a school gym or some other larger heated building to shelter these people...

Usually I like winter and cold temperatures, but this year it is just freezing cold with only a bit of snow and lots of dry, cold winds.

Hello:
I have seen and read in the news how bad it is the winter there right now. I still can't believe the number of people that have died because of the cold.

I just hope of all of you are safe and warm enough.

Yes, we have a late winter here. The snow came a few times in December but it all rained away during the 4 different Polar Hurricanes that came in (Berit, Cato, Dagmar and Emil, there Dagmar was said to be the strongest one in 30 years).

Then, late January, the snow came back, and is for now staying. We had at the coldest around -30 degrees C, but it has started to get milder. Today it was only -8 degrees.

I do my best to stay warm during this time. :)
