Hi all um I recently got some new 3d software (Lightwave) and have been prepping to do a new model and after asking -RJB- for some good tutorials and how to do certain things (Thanks again -RJB-) I have decided my first project will be my Contest model for the well contest we did a while ago.

While I have yet to start I did import the object and using the special type of rendering I learnt from -RJB- I have made two renders showing you what my blender model looks like in lightwave and so you can all see what i hope to achieve. Obviously I hope the model will be superior given that I have learnt new things since then and after playing around with the numerous tools on lightwave I beleive the model will be so.

So here are the two renders I tok using the plasticy/clay look I learnt from -RJB- ok:

Ok I am sorry for the reselution, i haven't worked out how to make the picture a higher one and thus more clear/less pixelated.

But I hope you can see what i wish to achieve and add to.

There is no time frame as I have learnt I never stick to them and well given my college life and the hell that is blaing around me I am just going to get to it when I can.

Okdokie thanks all.

Hey Patience!

This is some serious good work. I really like that design.
I remember the first meshes you posted on MSFC. You made some huge steps forward with your modelling skills. Keep it up, I want to see more :D

Can you post some orthographic views of the ship?

Thanks both heh but I really do have a lot of work cut out for me if I wish to improve on this design 9Not because its is a difficult design, just because of my skill level heh)

EA: I assume by orthographic you mean like wireframe pics etc. Sorry i am not with it today but here are three pics of the model in Lightwaves modeler (the modeling part of the program, i know obvious really heh, I tried in layout but don't know how to change it to wireframe mode)

Ok there they are, Now its just a port of my contest model like before so there are no differences. I am making some B5 ships currently from a tutorial so i can learn about Lightwave while also reading this big guide thing. However this weekend I hope to start some basic shaping of the vessel and then work from there.

Hope this is what you wanted EA and sorry if not heh. I am afraid I am not very vocabulated heh.

Thanks again for your comments though :)

I changed it from B5 to B5, no problem.

Ortographic views are views from the top, the (right or left) side and the front (or back).

Does that ship already have a name? You know, ships without a name tend to have bad luck ;)

Thanks for that EA, i will make some other shots of it when I post the first remodeling designs.

Well I had given it a name for the contest but that was some silly name I came up with on the spot because of its earth origin (Made in the UK heh).

As for what i want to call it now, um i am going to have to give that some thought. But wih my first remodel posts I will have its name for yall.

Thanks again heh.

when i use this ship design as my personal image of a ship i made up for a short story i wrote, the Pegasus Class Battlecarrier (which is a Hull type i made up, combines a Battleship and a Carrier into one ship class :D )

i bring this up as you are having trouble coming up with a name, so if you want to use that, feel free too.

if not, well then thats fine too :)

First off looking good

Ok I am sorry for the resolution, i haven't worked out how to make the picture a higher one and thus more clear/less pixelated.
For the resolution, that can be changed by going down to the camera tab at the bottom of the screen. Once that is selected click on the properties tab to it's right, this will bring up a window in which you can change your camera / render size.

As for the clear/less pixelated issue. While in the camera menu, there is an area for anti-aliasing. I use classic enhanced medium.

Thanks -RJB- and Wheller both of you.

Um I am having to replace my Hard drive for my desktop (Which is what I use to model) because its making a ticking noise which after looking around and based off when I had to recently re-format due to a apparently missing file, means its coming to the end of its almost 4-5 year life. I it would last longer but I am taking pre-cautions heh.

So i am using College computers to actually model heh. Hopefully when this is done (Hard drive replacement) in about a few days I beleive I can get back to it ok.

Wheller I may use a similar naming style as you have just not pegasus as I don't like horses LOL :p

Thanks anyway heh.
