• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I converted DJ Curtis' Galaxy a while back for personal use with Milkshape. It came out good , with the exception that the hardpoints aren't where I put them on the model. The pictures below show what I mean.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Did you make sure you centered all the previous points in the hierarchy at 0,0,0?

I'm afraid I have no idea what that means. My conversion was really a one-time thing, its really not my cup of tea.

Are you using MS3D or 3DMax?

If you did a straight import then the only the basic HPs are set up correctly. You'd have to go back and add all the others. If the model already has all the required HPs, your pictures indicate you've re sized the model too small. I had something similar with the BSG battlestars. Vipers were being built outside the flight pods. I had to go back and scale model upwards until I got what I wanted.

What exactly do you mean by scaling the model? Using Milkshape itself to make the model physically bigger in some way?

No. using the "scaleSOD = " command in the ship ODF ingame. The scaleSod command affects only the model, not the harpoints or the animations attached to the SOD.

Don't like to disagree with people who are more experienced than me, but yeah it does. When the model size changes, the hardpoints also move so that they stay in their same position on the larger model. I just scaled the Galaxy x2 and the HP's were still WAAAAYYY off from where they should've been

"Disagreement" is not what is going on here at all, lol. I'm just telling you about some of the things I've had go wrong over the years to try and help out. If nothing else we've checked one more off the 'that's not it' list.

lol, thanks  Don't have to feel so unconfortable now. I may re-install milkshape to see if I did place them off by accident.

Hi

What CABAL meant, is that the h_scene root, h_geometry, h_damage, h_lights and especially the h_hardpoints joints all have to be on the same position at the center of the model.

When h_scene root has the coordinates 0,0,0 (X-Axis, Y-Axis, Z-Axis) and h_hardpoints 0,0,2 then all the hardpoints will be moved by 2 units along the z-axis.

Judging from the images you posted, h_hardpoints is not placed on the same spot as h_scene root is.

Ohhhhhh, thats what it means. Nope, I remember I didn't place them all on the same area. When I get back later I'll get milkshape again and fix that

EDIT: Forgot to say thanks for the help

Just moved all of them so that they're on h_scene root, and now it shows where the hardpoints really are on the model. Am I gonna have to move each individual harpoint node back over to the area that I wanted originally?
