Evenin' all,

Well, after seeing the Eagle's popularity, and seeing the great job Jetfreak did at touching up the textures, I decided I ought to get out of retirement and work on improving my work myself. :p

First off is the Eagle. I made a couple of mistakes on the original, and there's a few things I'm not happy about, so here is my new WIP:

Things to look out for:
- Reshaped aft hull
- New shuttlebays
- Fixed nacelle grilles on the inside sides (why did nobody tell me about this?!)
- New nacelle grille and Bussard colours
- Deflector blade installed on underside of aft hull
- Saucer rim details
- General smoothing

A few things are inspired by what Jetfreak did, as he's noticed things I missed or didn't do right.

Feedback please?
(Old on left, new on right)

Sorry to sound cheesy, but....

"Impressive. Most impressive...." :lol2:

Excellent work man! Improvements on old works are always welcomed, especially when the original work was pretty good itself!

ATLANTIS!

It's good to see that you are doing some Armada modding again. :D
I really like that ship. Keep it up!

One thing: you should make the sensor pod (?) a bit wider.

Don't get me wrong, I like the addition of a deflector on the new version, it's just at the back the old version looks a lot cleaner mesh wise.

I great to see you are back in action. I still remember when you were working on Cold Front and later with Syf, Crazyfrog and I with the Federations Microverse mods. :)

Agreed biger pod please.

It's more a weapons pod than a sensor pod, really. [EDIT: With just two torpedo tubes? Do me a lemon. Sensors it is.] And I can't make it much bigger without deviating too much from Mr Schneider's design. That said, I've already deviated from it by un-flattening the back of the aft hull. The pod does need reworking anyway, so will see what I can do...

Agreed. The deflector is the one thing I wasn't happy with, so have removed it and redone the hull mesh to clean it up. [see attachment]

Seems like years ago... then again, it was. :lol2: I've not worked on Cold Front properly since 2004/5... Argh. What happened to me? Even I don't know!

Anywho, quick render to show the new (reverted to old style) underside.

Looking sharp bro and welcome back to A2.

Even better if you could do some more of Bernd's ships.

I like this ship very much! I am looking forward to its release. Been far, far too long since you've released anything. I am grateful you have gotten back into modding.

I agree. My fellow countryman at EAS has lots of really good designs. :)

Thank ye all for the kind words :)

In the most recent image.... where is the deflector?

The deflector is the one thing I wasn't happy with, so have removed it and redone the hull mesh to clean it up.

The original design didn't have one (not every ship has a deflector dish). I tried to put one on in the form of the blade-style one as seen previously, but wasn't happy with it, so I'll stick to not having a dish at all.

Even better if you could do some more of Bernd's ships.

I had actually started on his Barracuda before I went away, so it's very likely I'll be getting back to that (and more) once I'm back up to speed.

[Apologies for the double post, I just have an update to mention]

As most of my work emails say, simply: "Please see attached."

Pod remodelled (more accurate to original design), impulse block remodelled and texture edited, details added to nacelles, and texture tweaked.

Next up, the impulse block to be redone. Impulse textures to be changed to be different from the Bussards, and... I don't know, depends on what feedback says ;-)

Looking great Atlantis, I like how this is coming along. I think the re-texture of the impulse engines have really increased the quality of the model.

And now for something completely different, whilst thinking about what else to do to the Eagle...

Let's go to Vladivostok!

Just a very early WIP.

Hello:
Wow, a custom designed Runabout is what your Eagle needs! and that sure will add to the uniqueness of the design and the player's wishes to build more of that classy ship.
Keep it up with the great job!

Ummm, Chile, that's actually a freighter :p , and a very good one I may add. Can't wait to see this thing through.

Agreed that it does LOOK like a runabout (at the moment - it will be clearer when it's finished), but as Jetfreak said, it's more of a... well, not a freighter as such, more a supply ship. Have a look on the EAS website. =)

I said that did I? :lol2:

I am looking forward to seeing a more complete version of this ship. One thing I have noticed is the lack of small ships, both combat and utility for the game. So it's great to see you're working on a small non-combat ship. :D

I knew someone would see that before I edited it. :-(

Agreed. I figured it's a gap in the market. If there's only a few fcolony.sod replacements, a respectable percentage of people will use mine :lol2:

Oh yes, so it is. Not having a very good day today, am I? Hah.

It's just auto-hidden, had to click the button to get it to show. Didn't know about that. Very nice. :)

Not much to report today. Just finished the nacelles, struts, and bridge module. Textures soon.

It's quite a simple mesh at the moment. The main hull is likely a preliminary mesh, to be remade before it's finished.

It's going slowly at the moment, due to other stuff getting in the way (the NHS keep expecting me to go to the hospital five days a week and spend all day there. how dare they. just because i work there...)

But have done a bit more texturing. Just the underside and front bits to do now.

The problem is, there's gonna be a huge plain area on the top of the front, where the registry would be... More windows instead? Ideas?

If you can make the panals bigger and put little black lines between or under the details but above the panals put a grid pateren for the shields:)

I see no reason why you can't have little bit of a blank area on the ship. Looking good Atlantis.
