• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello:
Apoclaydon/Blade commented me about this some bit before he was finally able to post the thread here. This will clearly mark a sad day for all of us and the Star Trek modding communities, but I am sure we will never forget his contributions and good will.

My prayers and hopes are for his wife and his family.

Aad was one of my inspirations for modding. Aad worked with me on the Archer class which you can find on this site. Truly one of the greats of this community. He will be missed.

Rest in peace Aad, you will be very dearly missed. :( My deepest condolences to his family.

He was one of the giants of this community, a truly talented artist who never made a big fuss about his work. Ever since my first days at FF, way back in the day, I admired his output, and his quiet dedication to the craft. It's been an honor Aad, the community will not be the same without you.

My most sincere condolences for Aad's family, we've all lost a good man this day. He kept the A2 modding scene going long after it's golden days had run out.

Rest easy Aad. See you around.

I hadn't gotten to know Aad as well as I have had the opportunity with some others around here, I was more familiar with his reputation and talent with sprinkles of interactions and conversations here and there; that is much to my loss because like most folks around here are, Aad seemed like a genuine kind soul. I am sorry that I never will now.

To his wife I can only say I am sorry; and that is never enough.

To Aad, you will be missed by all of us. Your work was extraordinary and I have so many of your ships, thank you for sharing it with us. Bye Aad, we will meet you again beyond the rim.

Sighs.
I don't suppose anyone has a complete listing of his released mods anywhere. It would be a memorable thing to make a sort of super list for all the ships he as made thus far.

Hello:
That would be nice, as a homage for his work.

And I don't want to sound selfish or anything, but I had the plans to ask him if he could make the Apollo class (the predecessor of the Nebula class) because that class of ship with the Ambassador class are the only ships I like fro that era (pre-TNG) .

That would be certainly quite a list. I'm pretty certain most if not all of what he released is available here in the downloads section.

I think I will name a ship after him (in Yesteryears) in honour of what he did for the community and as a memorial for him and his accomplishments.

If I can get my hard drive in gear, I can send over the fleet he made for Continuum. The Entire GORN KA Fleet.

I'd like to announce I have created a special Aad Moerman section in the resources as a tribute to his amazing work he did for the community.

http://msfc.com.au/community/index.php?resources/categories/aad-moermans-models.34/

Everything he released at MSFC can be located here. AT least everything he uploaded here. If I missed a file please let me know with a link to it so I can move it over. Also feel free to contribute here any files he never uploaded so we can all have a single spot for him. I think he made this community what it is, we all know A2 is way past it's golden years but Aad continued to make it feel like the old days with constant quality work released and was always happy to help others out.

He'll be missed.

I just saw this myself, I'm in shock :(

I have source files for the Gorn ships that he made for ST:C as well if anyone needs them, I fully intend to honour the distribution model that he maintained.

My condolences to his family :(

That is a fine tribute Maj, Aad certainly grew to become one of the community's pillars. Every ship and station he contributed was quality work - keeping the polys in check too - that's no easy task. And he even bothered to go the extra mile by doing the non-glamorous parts of modeling the lesser known designs.

Dare I say it, any of our personal mods will have his work flying around somewhere. Even when I transitioned to 3d rendering, I always found his stuff useful when I needed to flesh out a scene. The diversity and sheer amount of his work is proof of his dedication to the Trek craft.

Godspeed Aad, you've been great artisan and influence to all of us. :salute:

Thanks for making a section of Aad's work Majestic. I see a couple of Dominion ships there, but IIRC he released a complete Dominion add-on which required Dominion Wars I think.

I used almost all of his work for the Upgrade Project 2014 mod (Fed, Kling, Rom, Cardies, and Borg). He even let me add phong lighting to all his models if I sent him the .SOD files which I did although even up to this day he never used phong lighting on anything he released that I know of.

There was one ship I don't believe he ever publicly released and that was the Fed Venture Class Scout. I stumbled across it in another mod years ago and asked if I could use it as well. I can dig up files if someone needs something.

He was also very gracious enough to model the USS Balmung in the ship request thread. I gave a go at hardpointing it, but lack the skills. If anyone would like to finish it you can find it in the downloads as well.

Searching my posts for conversations I had with Aad, I ran across a birthday post back in 2015. He said, "Thank you all!" I am sure he would say the same thing here, and on his behalf, I say this to all of us here, Thank you all!
