• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Some of my recent and not so recent work. My biggest weakness is skinning. I can't make new skins but I can adapt others if available. If not I will make a very basic version.

Here is a fan made pirate ship for the Star Wars universe. Original Design & Sketch by Sithsherald over at SWAG.
WIP-6.jpg

An original design by myself for my SST mod.
FIGHTER1.jpg

This is the Clones Wars TV series Corellian Freighter used by Anakin and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Nicknamed the "Grease Bucket" and the "Bucket of Bolts" by Tano and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Nevertheless Anakin has modified it extensively and it's a formidable fighter.
TwilightALO.jpg

A custom hover tank with a fixed mount sonic cannon. The oldest of these models.

All made with 3ds Max 8 or 9.

I know exactly how you feel - that's the part I hate the most

Lovely models though, 's nice to see another Max user around these parts - Milkshape seems to be the software of choice in most modding circles (at least, for the older games it seems to be). Tried it myself ages ago - couldn't get the hang of it, but it's a necessary tool for Armada modding.

My favourite is easily that Corellian ship - you've captured the lines brilliant, was that the only reference? Fighter looks nice also

Nice models there, Rebelmoon. And I too happen to be a Max-user, though I'm not so good at it... yet. ;)

I used Milkshape way back when I modded A2 as well. Major Payne, who you might know from the A2 community, still uses it for Empire at War even though Max 8 or 9 is required to rig & export to that game format. It's a solid program and the cost can't be beat. Having said that, I still prefer Max. :D

The idea behind that 1st ship is it's been rebuilt so many time using parts from other ships that it no longer resembles the original design. It's suppose to be an "ugly" or a ship built from salvaged parts. So even though it looks Correllian, according to the designer, it's not. I thought the same thing at 1st. lol and that image was all I had to go on. He hadn't made any other references.

Thanks! Neither am I but I keep trying. :D

Each to their own I guess :)

I think the most obviously Corellian part is the bridge(?) part. Now that you mention it though, I can see a few things that make it seem sort of cobbled together - the engines for instance.

Man, you have some superb models there. I like the hover tank. I play CnC GEN and ZH but I've not added new units, just reskinned the stock ones. The Ugly is perfect!

Thanks mate, I made that hover tank for C&C3 Tiberium Wars but the skin looked terrible in-game. The color and detail looked really bad. Not too long after that I started on my current project and stopped modding C&C3 altogether.

C&C3 as well as the later C&C games are really overly complicated to mod. They use a "pipeline" type file structure that is suppose to make load times quicker. Suppose to....it seems to be no faster and in some case, it's slower than other games that can actually render much higher poly units.

Sorry about the rant...

Gen and ZH are before CnC3. I kinda stopped there because EA has taken the franchise in a direction I do not want to go. They can be a hassle sometimes to mod with DDS and .BIG files. Still, there is something terrifyingly awesome about watching a mass of Overlord tanks stroll majestically through an enemy base, shrugging off desperate attacks while they win the game for you all by themselves.

Yeah I've modded pretty much all of them including the original Command & Conquer, Tiberian Sun, RA2, Generals ZH. I kitbashed the below model for Generals ZH.

I also converted the TW models, the predator, orca, & pitbull and modded them into Generals ZH. They were pushing the limit on poly count but really didn't create too much lag.

I like Generals & ZH. Still play the mod Shockwave sometimes.

Pretty much only RTS games. I'm currently modding Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption. I actually had planned on porting my EaW mod over to A2 and trying to develop them both but really didn't get any offers of help other than coding. The EaW mod is a TC with ground and space and I just couldn't work on both by myself.

Anyway, I modded A1&2 many years ago, I've also modded all of the C&C games up to Tiberium Twilight. I still would like to mod A2 but it will have to wait until I have finished the current project. Some of my models would have to be remade or optimized and a whole lot of stations would have to be designed. etc. Still, it is a possibility in the future.

Cheers,

Ya know, this just gets better and better all the time. The more I hear about you and your game choices, the more I am liking the way you think. I really, really like A2. But I also like just about any RTS game ever made. Especially the bad ones. All of the games you've mentioned here and in the other threads are happily tucked into my HDD and the discs all show signs of hard wear. The fact you live in Vicksburg is just icing on the cake.

I get down to Biloxi occasionally for my job. I'm a gaming vendor so I make runs to some of the casino's down there. The Palace, IP, & Boomtown have some of my companies money handling devices in them. We do have a local rep and my area is normally central & north MS & LA but I do sometimes have to run down there to give him a hand or cover for him. :D
