Received word that ABC Australia has informed the South Australian Doctor Who Fan Club that it would screen the 2006 Christmas Special The Runaway Bride on Thursday June 28 at 8:30pm and the 2007 season to start on Saturday as usual from June 30 7:30pm.

I should of course note that there is a possibility that the broadcast of this season on the ABC could be interrupted by the timing of the Federal Election. This means that if the election takes place during this run of Doctor Who, viewers would have to wait two weeks between episodes as the ABC would have coverage of the election on that particular Saturday.

Federal election campaign periods are at least 33 days, this would give people a hint on whether the broadcast of the 2007 season would be interrupted or not.

You're Welcome.

The Runaway Bride is the Pick of the Day for TV WEEK but the reviewer made the mistake of saying that Martha is in it. Also SMH's Robin Oliver has rated The Runaway Bride as being the SHOW OF THE WEEK.

In the latest SFX Doctor Who special which has been on sale recently its focus was on the current Whoniverse or as they called it NuWhoniverse. It includes a look at all the NuWhoniverse episodes that has been shown so far up to the special's publication.

Each episode has an Anatomy of An Episode. Basically it tells you on a pie chart what elements of the episode that is incorporated in it.

The episodes that are included in the special include ones not yet shown on Australian TV: The remaining 11 episodes of Torchwood season 1 yet to be shown on 10, the Doctor Who 2006 Christmas Special to be shown tonight on the ABC and the first Sarah Jane Adventures episode Invasion of the Bane. With the exception of the Sarah Jane Adventures episode all these episodes it is definitely known that they will be shown in the very forseeable future on Australian TV.

The anatomy for The Runaway Bride tonight is:
'30s Screwball Comedies 21%
The Worst Week of My Life (BBC TV series) 17%
The Scorpion King 15%
The 1978 Doctor Who serial Underworld 14%
The 2005 Doctor Who Christmas special The Christmas Invasion 13%
The Wonder of Creation 10%
Bullitt 10%

The thread for The Runaway Bride with some spoiler is here:

The Lazarus Experiment coming on Saturday August 4 gets a thumbs up by Keith Austin in the SMH Guide praising guest star Mark Gatiss.

As well as an actor Mark Gatiss is also a writer on the series although he did not write The Lazarus Experiment.

This represents the second time that Mark Gatiss being involved with a David Tennant episode as he wrote the season 32 episode The Idiot's Lantern last year. The two also previously worked together in the 2005 remake of The Quatermass Experiment.

Had I have known about this thread, I'd have warned you about the majority of the series being down-right rubbish. The penultimate 2 set a really great premise up and is quelled by the absolutely dire last episode. No spoilers, don't worry, just don't hold your breath for good TV.

Now the Human Nature/The Family of Blood story is over on the ABC, those who have not read the original novel can read the ebook here:

Writer Paul Cornell explains the adaptation of the novel to the screen here:

In regards to the next episode Blink:
For those who do not know, the Funday Telegraph in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph is section for kids which includes comics and a schedule for the 7 day week which recommends programs on TV for kids to watch. In yesterday's Funday Telegraph it listed on the schedule for Saturday September 1, Blink.

This is the first time that the Funday Telegraph has recommended a Doctor Who episode and about time to.

Also Judy Adamson in the Sydney Morning Herald Guide has given it the thumbs up. She gives a description of the episode's plot and says at the end, "Love it."

So do I.

Just as tonight's episode is The Shakespeare Code comes news reported at Outpost Gallifrey that David Tennant is in negotiation with the Royal Shakespeare Company to play Hamlet.

What an amazing coincidence.
In an update to this Outpost Gallifrey that The Royal Shakespeare Company have announced their 2008 line-up, which features David Tennant in two roles.

The first role is him starring in the title role in Hamlet alongside Patrick Stewart as Claudius.

The other role is of definite special interest to Who fans as Tennant will be playing Berowne in Love's Labour's Lost and of course that play was a major plot point in The Shakespeare Code.

Meanwhile tomorrow night's episode is Blink and here is the spoilerish, sort of thread for it:

Utopia on Saturday September 8 has been given the thumbs up by Greg Hassall in the SMH Guide. He says that the pay-off comes at the end setting up a stellar conclusion to the season. The episode sees the return of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. However as I said in the Torchwood thread, the Torchwood season 1 finale leads up to his return on Doctor Who but the Torchwood season 1 finale will be shown next week, a few nights after Utopia.

So if you want to have things neat and tidy, the only advice I can give you is to record Utopia and don't watch it until you see the Torchwood season finale next week. However please note if you record Utopia and don't watch it on the night, it will affect ratings for the parent programme as I am told ratings do not take into account timeshift viewing.

With the season 33 finale Last of the Time Lords soon to be shown on the ABC, I have read a couple of positive reviews about it.

It is TV WEEK's Pick of the Day on Saturday September 22 with reviewer David Kettle saying it is a season final that fans have been eagerly waiting for.

Jen Rosenberg in the SMH Guide gave it the thumbs up and says that it is a epic made up of a hybrid of Lord of the Rings, Big Brother (the Orwellian version), shades of Star Trek and the Bible being thrown in.

The downside to the timing of Last of the Time Lords is that it is in competition for kids' viewing as it is on at the same time as High School Musical 2 on Disney. I, of course will be watching Last of the Time Lords but I would also be recording High School Musical 2 as my niece and I are High School Musical fans.

Also at the same time as Last of the Time Lords will be on the ABC, 10 will be showing Back to the Future. Two time travel stories on at the same time on free to air TV.

Saw What The Future Sounded Like:
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/guide/netw/200709/programs/ZY8539A001D18092007T220000.htm
What The Future Sounded Like included Doctor Who composer Tristam Cary talk about making electronic music as we see a couple of clips from the first ever Dalek story including Barbara first seeing a Dalek. Also interviewed was another Doctor Who composer Mark Ayres and there was a small TARDIS model behind him.

Overall What The Future Sounded Like is really interesting for aficionados of electronic music which I am not one.

After What The Future Sounded Like saw the trailer of Last of the Time Lords. The trailer is quite good but it did show a major spoiler, so people should be wary when they see it.
