Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Those are some very very impressive sprites, Excalibur
Hey there... sorry for taking a while... but I finally sent the files to be uploaded to the mod directory. I'm just going to put up some of the weapon sprites I mentioned earlier (jpg previews of course).
Were all of these created by you from scratch? Otherwise you might want to credit the original creators to avoid accusations of mod theft. I do recognize some of these yet haven't played any FO mods (except Sigma).
I did mention that the preexisting sprites were released before. That automatically means that I am not saying that they are mine.
As with regards to the ones I "made". I have done so much editing with them I think there is little to compare with the original. But none the less these are photoshops of preexisting ones with a redo. I don't claim them to be 100% original. The Weapons pack on Armada Filefront has given me some of the sprites, others I took from some STA1 mods that are no longer on the net.
Heh, didn't mean to offend. I just thought you should credit those people. I'm not sure how strict Maj is with these things.
They are really nice sprites, especially the globular torps. As several people have brought up though I would like to make sure they are free to use or know who to give credit to. I try to keep all the assets of Sigma as close to 100% mine as possible. Eventually even the FO assets I'm allowed to use will be cycled out.
Whether or not the sprites are free to use is not the point. The point is that the rules state that all work done by others MUST be credited to them. If you don't know the individual you must credit the mod team. As you knew Adm_Tyler's work was contained within and did not include a readme with creadit is both a big breach of the rules and extremly disrespectful of both Adm_Tyler and Undying_Nephalim. How can Undying_Nephalim maintain the high standards he has set without this information? Also the files are up for DL in what amounts to a public place. While you are not taking credit for the work, without proper credits what is to stop another person of ill intent from stilling the work and claiming it as their own? Including credits is part of the community standard to help provide protections against theaft. It provides a trail that we can follow showing who did what and how the work has changed as it changes hands. Please correct this credit issue immediatly.
Thanks. Much appreciated. Please understand I wasn't trying to troll you or get you in trouble. Rather the reverse. Toughest part of modding isn't texturing a mesh, it is ensuring the right people get credited for what they do. They deserve the respect for the free time they put into something they share with those of us who are not as talented. Whether or not the mod in question is available any longer, or they really don't care what you do with their stuff, the respect shown them by properly crediting their work in a ReadMe reflects well upon yourself. Makes you one of the Good Guys. And believe it or not, when you are known throughout the Community as one of the Good Guys, it becomes far easier to get people to allow you to use their stuff. MSFC has a very good reputation throughout the entire Star Trek Community. All of us are known as part of the Good Guys. Because we do the right things regardless of the personal cost or inconvenience. I would hate to see this be tarnished. No matter how small or temporary the blemish. Because in the end all of us pay the price for, "being just like everyone else". Take a good look at your garden variety InterWebs denizen. Do you really want people to think you're the same as the rest?I'll send the readme to be added to the file.
And believe it or not, when you are known throughout the Community as one of the Good Guys, it becomes far easier to get people to allow you to use their stuff.
Hello:
Good luck with the maps!.
I was taking a look at the screens you made for campaigns, I am more and more convinced that Sigma is a way to show us your plots for a novel but applied to the Armada games. I can see the story is very extense and I guess it has been very well planned. Simply Amazing.
Keep it up!
The story is definitely something I've tried to focus on, as it was being developed long before I even thought of the idea of making Sigma a game. If you don't mind spoilers I'll put a rough outline of the campaigns and their missions here. I'll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible:
Prologue
This campaign takes place from the perspective of the V.R.A. and then switches to the Zevestivan. It follows the events of the Genocide against the Jevorons, the discovery of the Sigma Relay, and Kydora's attempt to unite all the races in peace.
1. To Silence a Choir - Assist the V.R.A. in committing genocide on the Jevoron people for undefined reasons.
2. Mute Demise - Eliminate the Jevoron ships that escaped the destruction of their world and uncover the supposed reason for the V.R.A's attack.
3. Relay the Truth - Assist Fox Division in uncovering an ancient artifact discovered after finding the Mylock ship in the previous mission.
4. Pest Control - Matriarch Kydora is hosting a peace conference between the various races as a response to the V.R.A's recent attack on the Jevorons. Assure everything is ready to go.
5. Gathering of Faiths - The major races of the Sintar Cluster meet in person for the first time, but Zevestivan terrorists are less then thrilled at this event. Protect the conference from Zevestivan terroists.
6. Holy War - Zevestivan terrorists have threatened to kill Matriarch Kydora for associating with alien races. Track down and eliminate the Terrorist bases that are launching attacks against the Zevestivan.
Zealotry
This campaign shows the unfortunate results of Kydora's peace conference from the perspective of the Sov and V.R.A.
7. Ambition - The Sov Overseer wishes to expand into new resource zones currently occupied by the V.R.A. Using knowledge gained at Kydora's peace conference, slip past V.R.A. patrols and establish a military base.
8. Means of Production - The Overseer cannot rely on his personal forces to hold his new territory. Enlist the aid of Broker and her automated Drones, or Tamer and his unique method of warfare.
9. The Free Market - The Palreeuh Nebula Rift is free for the taking now that the Overseer possesses a substantial army. Lead an all out assault to secure the resources.
10. Demon Hunt - Commander Valash is suspicious of Kydora's true intent. Gather evidence from her convoy while she meets with Commander Hawksin and General Mokbel.
11. Sacrilege - Commander Valash has no evidence, but is convinced that the Zevestivan are constructing weapons of mass destruction at their sacred Cathedrals. Lead a preemtive strike against one of these Cathedrals to uncover the weapons.
12. Zealotry - The destruction of the Cathedral and lack of the supposed weapons has sent the Zevestivan over the edge. Kydora declares war on the V.R.A, and the Zevestivan invade. Defend the Bayrco system from the initial assault.
Worship
This Campaign deals with the consequences of taking advantage of Kydora's offerings from the perspective of the Sov and Zevestivan
13. Asymmetric Shock - The Ekoset have unexpectedly attacked Sov worlds and market bases. Retreat from V.R.A. space and help defend the Sov economy... and people.
14. Black-Scholes - Enlist the aid of the mysterious Jesmissic and their advanced black hole weaponry to combat the Ekoset.
15. Zero-sum Game - The Ekoset have begun to invade V.R.A. space. The Overseer sees this as an opportunity to unite with the V.R.A. and strike a blow against the Ekoset. Ally with Colonel Stein and destroy the heart of the Ekoset invasion force.
16. Unholy Wrath - The V.R.A. are proving to be stronger then initially anticipated, and have now turned the war around. Defend the world of Hizeevak from V.R.A. forces.
17. Crusade - Kydora has located a Fox Division Base in the Gazon corridor housing knowledge of the Sigma Relay. Enter the Corridor and take over the base.
18. Worship - Kydora has been defeated and is now a prisoner of war. The V.R.A. have bypassed Zevestivan worlds and are striking right at Eurokan Prime. Lead a last ditch defense against all odds and assure civilians escape the warzone before it's too late.
Sin
This Campaign follows Commander Hawksin as he tries to atone for helping the V.R.A. destroy the homeworlds of two races, as well as the revenge those two races take on the V.R.A. for all the damage they did
19. Regret - Commander Hawksin has become unable to bear the participation in both the Jevoron and Zevestivan genocides. Help him uncover information from the Sigma Relay and escape from both the V.R.A. and Fox Division.
20. Remnant - Commander Hawksin has located surviving Jevoron forces and has offered his help to strike back at the V.R.A. Lead an assault against the V.R.A. and announce the return of the Jevorons.
21. Advent - the Jevorons continue to decimate the V.R.A. with their new technologies. Lead a surprise attack against the V.R.A's largest production center.
22. Ashes - The Zevestivan are subjugated by the V.R.A, but young Alysta has managed to gather the remaining free Zevestivan. Seek the help of the Jevorons, whom share your common enemy.
23. Resurgence - Zevestivan and Jevoron forces unite to free Eurokan Prime from V.R.A. control. Lead a full scale assault on the planet and free the prisoners.
24. Sin - The time has come to bring justice to the V.R.A. for their crimes. Lead an assault on their homeworld of Horovine itself.
Resurrection
The V.R.A. unleash a last resort weapon that they lose control of. This campaign follows the Mylocks in their attempt to clean up the damage of this weapon, as well as Hawksin's attempt to make amends to all the victims of the V.R.A.
25. Genuit - The V.R.A. have unleashed a biological weapon as a last ditch effort against the Jevorons and Zevestivan, but something has went horribly wrong and they have lost control. As Ventus of the Mylocks, lead a covert operation to examine and locate where these organisms are hiding and growing.
26. Vita - The new organisms have identified themselves as Aabtani, a single organism bent on destroying technology. Attack the Nuclei of Aabtani bases and assure that it cannot spread any further.
27. Mortem - It has been determined that Aabtani is using the precursor Relays to link organisms together as one entity. Destroy the Lamda Relay and cripple Aabtani in this region of space.
28. Unification - Aabtani's attacks have left the V.R.A, Sov, Zevestivan, and Jevorons in ruins. As Commander Hawksin recruit the help of Broker and the Sov to convince the other races to join.
29. Justice - Both the Zevestivan and Jevorons are unwilling to forgive the V.R.A. for their crimes. Hunt down and arrest Commander Valash as a sign of good faith to the Zevestivan.
30. Resurrection - The Jevorons remain alone, but Commander Hawksin remains confident in finding a way to ask for forgiveness. Find a way to secure Jevoron Prime and restore the damage that was done by the V.R.A.
Salvation
This campaign follows Norin and how she came to power. It shows the ultimate consequences of the V.R.A. genocides, and the other races taking advantage of Kydora's benevolence.
31. Beholder - After landing on the ruins of Jevoron Prime and finding a recording from her mother, Aabtani, Norin learns of her mother's intent and her tampering with the V.R.A's biological weapons. Prove Norin's worth as a commander by leading a solo attack against Aabtani's new forces.
32. Impurity - Aabtani has begun to infect populations on a microscopic level, Commander Hawksin being one of the victims. Lead an assault against the organisms generating the virus over planets and hope to collect a sample.
33. Saints - The Ekoset have proven to be immune to Aabtani's virus. Seek their help and ask for an alliance.
34. Antithesis - A preventative has been developed to halt the spread of Aabtani's virus, but those already infected can't be cured. Defend supply ships carrying the preventative from Aabtani's forces.
35. Apotheosis (Part 1) - Aabtani's primary means of control has been discovered to be the Sigma Relay. Lead a united attack along with all races against the Relay and destroy Aabtani.
36. Apotheosis (Part 2) - Norin has entered the Sigma Relay with the help of the Mylocks in search of its power source. Resist Aabtani and merge with the Mylocks, or accept Aabtani's offer of immortality.
37. Salvation - Norin has either accepted to become absorbed by Aabtani, cybernetically merged with the Mylocks to protect her from influence, or rejected both of their offers. As Aabtani, destroy the Mylocks and the other races and lead in an age no technology and peace. As a Mylock, destroy Aabtani and the other biological races and purify the galaxy of their malady. Rejecting both offers, destroy both the Mylocks and Aabtani as the other united races.
This looks awesome! The two captains having the same voice threw me off at first though, lol.
I'm re-installing A2, FO, and Sigma and have a question. Is v2.1.1 the latest released version or is there a newer one?
2.1.1 is the most recent available, though I would recommend waiting for the next version which has all my new models and fixed gameplay. It should be up for download shortly after the next FO patch. I'd release now if I could but it uses several features that don't work in the current version of FO.
