Heard about this webisode mini-series for some time but finally got to read up about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Of_Gods_and_Men
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men is a three-part unofficial Star Trek fan mini-series which has been announced for release in January, 2007, which contains many cast members from the original series and movies. It is described by its producers as a "40th Anniversary gift" from Star Trek actors to their fans. Principal photography began July 12, 2006 and finished in October 2006. It is not officially endorsed by the owners of Star Trek, but has been covered on their website startrek.com.

The series is directed by a team of Tim Russ and J. G. Hertzler. Russ, best known for playing Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager, previously directed one episode of that series. Hertzler was a character actor who appeared in many roles across several Star Trek series, including as the recurring General Martok on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

The series is described as the "brain-child" of James Cawley, who created Star Trek: New Voyages, and was shot in New Voyages sets in New York, at Port Henry and New York. Scenes were also shot around the Los Angeles, California area, including at Vasquez Rocks, a popular site for Star Trek location footage. Scenes set at the Vulcan Science Academy were filmed in the San Fernando Valley.

According to the press release, the mini-series stars Nichelle Nichols as Uhura, Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov, and Grace Lee Whitney as Janice Rand. It also features Alan Ruck reprising his role as Captain John Harriman from Star Trek: Generations and Garrett Wang reprising his role as Harry Kim from Voyager), . Other Star Trek actors to appear (though not necessarily in the roles that they originally played) include Chase Masterson Leeta from DS9), and Gary Graham (Ambassador Soval from Enterprise). The series was written by DS9 writers Jack Trevino and Ethan H. Calk. Douglas Knapp is the director of photography and previously worked on Voyager."

It looks really good.

I knew ST:NV was making a new episode, but I didn't pay too much attention. Man, ST:OGAM looks like it will be awesome. And to think, It's all done "For the Fans". To think, people argue that SW or B5, or other series/movies are better than ST. However, have any of the actors and fans of those series/movies offered up some of their spare time to make something special for the fans?

This is going to be a great moral boost for the fans of Star Trek.

Now I have to admit, I am looking really forward to this one. Something completely new but yet has familiar traits in it.

Something Star Trek really needs. Could be a spark to re-start Star Trek in a few years.

If you haven't already do yourself a favour and download the trailer.

This thread is also now stuck as it's more than worthy of it.

Thanks for letting us know of this Theta Sigma.

Sticky it deserves.

As of now, it is on my most wanted list of shows and such to see.

Maj, maybe we should copy their banner and have a link to them. I support this notion.

Awesome. I'm beginning to think that 2007 will be a year to remember!

I have been thinking that for the last few weeks. If I am lucky and play my cards well, my whole life may change. :excited:

Jess knows what I am talking about and some of you who have known me for a few years like Hellkite, Elrond and Syf may also know what I am on about (possibility).

Back to the topic though, I will be downloading this as soon as it is out and burning it to a DVD.

Indeed. Now if only they would start up a new Star Trek series... And get the next movie out, it would make for a wonderful New Trek year.

May we all have a great "New Trek Year"!

I too have been silently waiting. And for those interested, I thing the NV is almost ready to release another episode (I haven't really checked, but it's near time too). Which I think is seperate to ST:GaM.

Yes I can't wait, to see some new characters and some old ones all mixed in together in what seems to be a new parallel universe, it looks like it's really going to spice things up and perhaps even jump start Star Trek again. :)

Lord_Trekie

Syf

Majestic

Indeed, on that day I will be coming straight home from work and downloading it.

Once I have all the parts downloaded I am going to make a DVD of them so I can watch them on TV.

Syf

I've got the DVD's, got the DVD burner, but none of the programs I have will burn a video file to DVD properly :( I've tried Roxio, Nero, Sonic, and some other program I can't remember...

Syf
12-04-2007, 06:24
It really depends on the format they release it in, LT, as to which program works best.

Majestic
12-04-2007, 17:25
I use Nero myself and have never had a problem with it. Those I mainly do data backup CD's I have yet to try an actual DVD.

I got here some good news and some bad news...

The BAD news is that the release of ST:OGAM part one is delayed.

The good news is, they have released a preview of the first 3 minutes of the film.

Majestic
16-04-2007, 17:54
Indeed, do you know when it will be released Syf?

Syf
17-04-2007, 04:36
They have not stated a new date. With a good portion of the first part appearently made, it looks like they just have some minor work to complete.

I will be keeping an eye out on this. It shouldn't be much longer. I'd guess, maybe a couple months.

:excited: Cant wait, has anyone looked at the video's they have posted on the site?

I like the Gum drop clip.
As for makeing it into a DVD than Just about any DVD Burning software will work. And if not Just tell it "Surrender you Code to me you Program will adapt to service me. Resistance is Futile." :lol2:

I think I might wait till they are all out and downloadable, I hate watching streaming videos as I have to keep pausing them to allow them to buffer, youtube is the only site where I don't have to do that.

You're Welcome.

Part II:
Pieces are certainly falling into place
with Charlie X revealing that he killed Kirk's mother before he was born hence the alternate timeline.

However I am not quite sure about Gary Graham's performance as I found it flat.

Good cliffhanger.

Has anyone had problems playing act 2? I haven't been able to get it to work, not a problem with act 1.

Theta Sigma
20-05-2008, 23:32
The problem I found with it is that I couldn't backtrack to see if I missed anything or jump to where I was up to before.

Let's hope there will be no problems with Act 3.

Theta Sigma
23-05-2008, 17:38
The Of Gods and Men website has announced that Act III will be released on June 15 (US time).

Guess I will have to wait till a downloadable version which should have been done in the first place as I hate streaming videos as they always stop part way through.

Thanks TS.

You are welcome.

As reported from the Star Trek: Of Gods and Men Newsletter:
"Due to overwhelming demand, Star Trek: Of Gods and Men will be available on DVD."

The series which had been available to view on the Star Trek: Of Gods and Men website in three parts is re-edited as an 87 minute feature film for the DVD release.

Finally saw the third and last act recently and it has a pretty good conclusion.

The outtakes at the end credits was quite funny.

I own the DVD, but had to buy one of their other DVD's to get it due to legal issues with the Star Trek franchise name and material.

For a fan film it's awesome. One of the better ones out there.
