At the University of Michigan football game I was at yesterday our band did famous TV shows, including Mission Impossible (the band made a huge M:I), Gilligan's Island (Made a boat crashing into an island), The A-Team (Made a big "The A-Team" logo), Knight Rider (A car with spinning wheels).

Finally, the ended with Star Trek, making the classic trek symbol:

Not only that, but Patrick Stewart was in town with the Royal Shakespeare troup and he led the band after being introduced as captain of the Federation Starship Enterprise. He got a great ovation from the 109,000 people at the game. He also said "Boldly go.....and beat the Buckeyes" (our rivals in the BigTen conference) and "Make it so #1" which was corny but cool.

He then led our band in doing our school's fight song, Hail to the Victors.

These pictures are from someone who was standing about 10 feet from me at the stadium. Even in the last row the view is pretty good.

Thats awesome. I would have loved to have been there. Anyone know if Patrick is a Wolverines fan or if he just got asked to do it?

Well I don't think hes a big American football fan, he did talk about the Detroit Tigers in an interview a few days ago which was surprising, so maybe he has a bit of a soft spot for Michigan.

That is awesome. Don't care what team he did it for. It was still great. I bet it was a great thing to watch in person.

Syf, don't make me mad, OSU is our arch nemesis, they are the Borg, they are the Dominion....

We had basically 2nd 3rd and 4th stringers playing Ball State, they screwed up and made the game a close one, but we won 34-26.

Sorry, Didn't mean to offend you.8-) Just a thought that it would be nice to see him do something like that here, in OK.

Oh, Oklahoma State, oh we don't mind you.

OSU (Ohio State University) is our blood rival. Its a big time seething hatred between our schools.

You Americans and your football.

That would of been a great experence, standing only a few meters away from a man you have seen on TV for countless hours and one of Star Trek's greats, after TOS actors of course. :)

lol
the only 'prominent' people that appear on the national sport events of Germany (soccer games - I just hate it) in a regular manner are the Police Shock Troopers.

If you want to see more photos, one of the Michigan Band photographers has them on her site now.

Go to the Michigan Band site:

http://mmb.music.umich.edu/

At the bottom of the home page are links to the photographers. The middle one (Linda) had 209 photos of the whole show, including a lot of Patrick Stewart.

The band has its own video crew too, though they usually don't have anything out for a while after the end of the season.
