Mr Chimpey at the Outpost Gallifrey Doctor Who forum posted this:

He also says that to his knowledge there are no plans for using Patrick Stewart in any forthcoming TNG movie projects. "It's more likely that some executive had a casual conversation with him and brought up some hypotheticals which he ran with when some reporter asked him about Star Trek. There's a chance that someone else at Paramount is planning something huge and keeping us out of the loop. From what I've heard, Patrick wouldn't do another Trek movie unless they paid him Professor X money."

Now that the merger between UPN and WB is in full swing, Mirabello is not optimistic about a small screen future either - "The TV side is now technically in control of the franchise's future, and Les Moonves hates all things Sci-Fi. However, I think this is actually for the best - the public needs to want to see Star Trek again. The best way to achieve this is to take it away for a few years and then bring it back and do it right. The franchise needs a totally new creative team, some time off, and a cool new approach"."

I am sick of all the humans, make a new ship and crew more derverse, have a Bolian, Andorian or other strange species as a Captain not another Human.

It honestly doesn't bother me if it takes another 10 years till a new Star Trek movies or series comes out, we have several great sci-fi shows on tv/being produced atm.

Also re-runs of Babylon 5 never get boring.

Maybe explore one of the other major powers!?
And of course mix the Federation into that somehow.:D

April 24, 2006 - 8:31 PM As fans reacted with optimism to the announcement of an eleventh Star Trek feature film to be helmed by J.J. Abrams (story (http://www.trektoday.com/news/210406_01.shtml)), some facts about the movie have become clearer.
StarTrek.com (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/news/article/15891.html) has confirmed that longtime Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman, who was personally brought into the franchise by creator Gene Roddenberry and worked on all of the second-generation shows and movies, is not involved. "This project is separate from the previously rumored script developed by Eric Jendresen and overseen by Rick Berman," stated the official site. "The former Star Trek producer is not involved in this project."
An Associated Press (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060421/ap_en_mo/film_star_trek_abrams_3) article on Abrams, who will co-write the Star Trek XI script with his Mission Impossible III collaborators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, quoted Paramount spokeswoman Nancy Kirkpatrick as saying that original series stars William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy have not yet been approached about appearing in the prequel film, which will reportedly focus on Kirk and Spock's first meeting and their first adventures together.
George Takei, who played Sulu in the original series, six films and on Star Trek: Voyager, noted on his web site (http://www.georgetakei.com/) that he was "very excited" about the news. "I wonder what Sulu would have been up to in those early days at Starfleet Academy?" he said. "We've lived much longer than we ever thought, and will continue to prosper in so many unimagined ways in the future."

it still on

I do not believe any announcement of ST XI before I see the trailer either on TV or in cinema!

This is now the 3rd or 4th announcement of a new Trek movie! It is like with the rumours of a new B5 movie (is JMS scripting one or is he not????) And then WB Movie Compartement says: NO, there's no B5 movie!

This is nearly the same. They shall stop putting on rumours and disappointing the Trek community later on.

And I think a film about the academy years is nuts. Shatner is and was the only James Tiberius Kirk and Leonard Nimoy the one and only Mr. Spock!
(That's the way I think, I grew up with TOS!)
Also it is most likely that they met on the Enterprise first! Why do have they all to meet each other before? Why not leave it like it is and do a film about another ship in the TOS era and the Klingon expansion?

I agree. It's nuts to try to make a movie based on TOS in any fashion. I think they should focus on the future of trek, not the past. To do anything else would be rejected by the fans.

From what I have seen on startrek.com is they are making another movie but anyone involved refuses to give info on what it is about. But still must wait till a trailer to believe it. Although on that site it talks of a 2008 release date. :? :?

Well, if they ever do make it, I am curious to see how they try to pull it off. The rumor at the moment is Ben Affleck may be in it, which made me vomit a little, so here are my two picks for next Star Trek Captain:

Captain Gregory House

Captain Sam Jackson

My poor photoshops, but you get the idea.

Star Trek has done too much already, they should axe it now before they run it any further into the ground than they already have.

May sound harsh, but I am forced to agree. Let it sit quiet for a few years, perhaps 2015 or something bring it back when people are ready for it again.

Personally, I've always wanted to see Star Trek from either a Klingon or Romulan side.

Of course, there was my other idea.

Every few episodes, say in a 2-4 episode story arc, you would see a new ship (not necessarily new, but a different one) and see what it gets up to. Sometimes it could be simple border patrol, but something goes wrong, it COULD be the flagship, it could be a ship ferrying about a horrible ambassador where you see the crews reaction...of course that sounds a little Babylon 5, I'd like to see it in Star Trek.

In terms of STXI...it sounds appauling. No Enterprise. No real Kirk. No real Spock. No McCoy or Scotty. It therefore will be rubbish based on that simple logic :D

No, I want Samuel L. Jackson playing Kirk.

New Star Trek Film axed:?

Good,Dont get me wrong I like Star Trek but they need to stop copying other sci Fi ideas:x , Star Wars done the prequals so now ST thinks it can do the same, it got away with Enterprise but another film showing Kirk & Spock early days wouldnt work for me.(No big dark bad past like Vader)
I know what Happened to Spock,I know what happened to Kirk, What I want to see is what the future holds for the Enterprise E,What became of the Voyager Crew & DS9 lot,Are the Borg Finally dead all that sort of stuff.

O

Ment to say as well agree with Majestic, If theres another captain make it an alien, its the only thing left that they hav'nt done as a captain. It would be kind of interesting if war broke out between the alien captains race and the Federation, where would loyaltys lie or might end up with a mission killing lots of his people.
Exept a Klingon, wouldnt really work as Klingons love a good fight anyways dosnt matter to them which side your on.

Trek cannot be axed. I wouldn't allow it :p

What I would like to see however, is a Mirror Universe Series. We've seen bits and pieces of them, it would be interesting to see a little more. Maybe the downfall of the Terran Empire or something?

Lmao . would be interesting yeah but remember treks age ;) . a Mirror universe , now that would be good :D . first few seasons with the empire doing all good before the klingons wipe the floor with em :D , then after it the adventures of the ISS Defiant as she boldly destroys any 1 :D

Im in a killing mood atm , just after finding the clip of the Defiant gettin it on youtube :D
" Poor captain sisko , i believe he was quite fond of that ship "
