I just thought I'd point out that the New, CGI Transformers movie is slated to be in the theaters July 4th, 2007. That's only another 362 days away.
http://www.transformersthemovie.com

I myself have always been a big fan of Transformers. I'm an original G1 fan. So, if any of you out there like the Transformers, then you'll love the movie their making right now. It's going to be like a "Live Action" movie, with CGI so good, It'll look like every day life. The Cars will look like real cars and such. My current Avatar is a screen capture from the CGI demo reel that's available on the site.

You can view the first trailer on the site, as well as keep in tune with any news about the movie too.

Also, on another note, In November 2006, the original Transformers: The movie, will be re released as a 20th Anniversary DVD. News abotut that is also available on a link at the movie's site.

Other links:
http://www.transformers.com (for all things Transformers)

And don't anyone ever question if I'm too old for Transformers, as I have kids of my own that are nuts over them, just as I was when I was their (and your) age.

Looking good, sure to be on my list of movies to see at the movies.

And your right, you can never be to old for shows/movies like these. :)

When I get back to work, the first think I'll make a note to the boss is, I can not work that day... No way. I already have plans, and it's not got anything to do with popping firecrackers (but fireworks are an added bonus).

I can't hardly wait for this movie. If a Star Trek movie was released tha same day, my wife wouldn't see me that day because I would be in heaven!

Optimus Prime. I too has a fleet of Transformers when I was a kid. Nearly all of them at the time.

This film is going to be awesome.

Yes, the blue one was called Soundwave, and the red one was called Blaster.

For those that are fans of the Transformers, there is also a great site called Seibertron. That is where I first learned that they were planning a new movie. They have a huge database of all the different type of transformers, all generations. The site also serves as the "watchdog" of all things related to Transformers.

However, I will not post a link because they host fan forums there as well.

I do want to see this one but I'm worried that it won't be want I would like it to be. To me the generation 1 Transformers are THE Transformers, I don't like what I've seen in terms of vehicles and premise.

Transformers was more then a bunch of robots kicking each others collective asses but that is not what I've seen in the trailer or any other sourse.

In fact the only redeeming quility for me so far is that I've heard that they have to original voice of Optimus Prime.

Rod, I here you. The thing about this TF movie is it is made by people like us, that grew up with TF G1. Even though the characters are modified, it will prove to be a interesting watch. Transform and roll out!
Its gonna be great. they have the original Prime back in Peter Cullen which can only be a good thing. although I still wish they'd done Prime in a way similar to your avatar Syf, more reminiscent of the original G1 Prime, although I can understand the logic behind the change.
Besides, its better camoflage. who'd expect a pimped out truck cab like his new form to be one of the autobots...

Well, I just got back from watching the new Transformers movie. I will give a non-spoiler review now.

Starting from a few minutes into the movie until the end, it's transformers everywhere. I have to admit, the way they redesigned them at first may seem like a turn-off. However, when you take into account that every incarnation of the Transformers, Hasbro has always re-wrote the book on them. This movie is not any different in that aspect. But for a "Live Action" movie, it came out better than what I expected. From a fan of the original "G1" series's point of view, this is not your Daddy's Transformers. Anyone that is a fan of movies like Independance Day, I-Robot, Wild Wild West, Men In Black, etc... This movie is right up your alley. Over-all, it's a great re-invention of the popular "kid's flick", the transformers. The kid inside me gives it a 9.5 out of 10. If you have the chance, watch this movie, you'll like it.

Ever since I saw the first trailer for this, I've wanted to watch it. And soon, I will be. Am just waiting for something to finish downloading, ahem.

I've never been a huge fan of Transformers, but I have been a fan of science fiction and the likes, and as the film follows from that.. It is one to watch for me. I was reading up on Wikipedia last night. Some pretty interesting stuff.

They essentially live in a 'Matrix', and they are released, to explore, and then they (once dead) go back... That being true, couldn't they just go and be released again?

Complicated :lol2:

Aerilon
05-07-2007, 03:46
WOW, like seriously WOW. That movie was immense. The CGI & Fight scenes were seriously out of this world. I couldn't fault it one bit.

Just to clarify...All of the Deceptions, cept for the Jet Guy (forgot his name) are dead, right? And with the Autobots, they lost a single guy (the sports car). - I really have to keep up with their names, I only remember a few.Regardless, the movie was a classic, and for all those people who were against it, seriously, you have to watch it, it'll change your mind.

Favourite Scenes (Spoilers Ahead):

When Jazz goes up against Megatron, asking him if he wants a piece of him, and then Megatron rips him in two. The scene between Prime and that other guy, on the bridge. Prime takes him out in a mere 5 seconds flat

There was also the part where Sam met the other Autobots, and that one guy (I think Ironhide) made the comment about him wanting to sleep with Mikaela  - Talking of Ironhide also, when at Sam's house, he mentions about killing some humans because they're annoying or something :p

And then there was 'this isn't hiding' when the Autobots are stood on Sam's lawn, ha!

Edit: Out of curiosity, does anyone have a list of all the Autobots, and Deceptions? Likewise, who are these 'Dinobots'? In addition to that, once a Transformer dies, is that it for him? I am sure some of these guys would have died in the past movies, or stories, yet they are alive oncemore..

Syf

I actually meant the ones not in the movie  but thanks for sharing the information with me. At least now I know who is who, and if I've gotten this right:it was Jazz who got ripped in two by Megatron.I am curious though, Barricade, I could have sworn Bumblebee took him out earlier on, yet, we see him later in... What is that all about?

Syf
05-07-2007, 16:50
Oh, you want a list of all the Transformers...he he, that's one BIG list.

I'll go straight for the Dinobots question. The Dinobots are from the original series back in the 1980s There is 5 of them originally. They were the only Non-auto Autobots at the time they were introduced. They were introduced to fight the Constructicons (they were the green construction trucks that combined into a single robot) and the Decepticon City, Tripticon, which looked like a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex.
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/7237/dinodots001pg5.jpg

They are as listed -
The Tyrannosaurus Rex - Grimlock (Leader of the pack)
The Brontosaurus - Sludge
The Pterodactyl - Swoop
The Stegosaurus - Snarl
The Triceratops - Slag

I hope this helps.

I just saw the movie today and liked it a whole lot for the most part. I loved the Autobots and Decepticons, changes and all, they were rightfully the highlight of the entire movie. Though I also enjoyed seeing the military hit them with everything they had without much success, kind off like the old Godzilla movies.

However there was one thing that absolutely left me p/o, it was a cliché and it was the obvious thng that would happen but when it did, it almost ruined the entire movie for me.

Darn spoiler tags aren't working for me or I put them wrong...

SPOILERS BELOW, DON'T READ...

I'm of course referring to **** LaBeouf taking out Megatron instead of Optimus Prime doing it, that was just wrong. Optimus was this extreme badass throughout the film then when he fights Megatron he's out in 2 seconds and the freaking humans pelt Megatron harder than he does. Aside of LaBeouf's magical maneuver with the Allspark being downright impossible because of Megatron's size, he completely stole the thing I was most looking forward to since they announced a Transformers movie...very disappointing. Jazz's death sucked also but at least one Autobot had to bite it, so I could live with it.

And Tycoon about the survivors:

Starscream (The F-22) did survive, Barricade (Police Car) escaped as he didn't even participate in the final battle and unless Scorponok was attached to Blackout's (MH-53) back, then he also escaped. Though Megatron died, if you notice the fact that they dump his body almost entirely intact into the ocean saying it will "crush the remains from the pressure", the scene ominously screamed Megatron will be back for the sequel. Besides, they still owe us a real Prime vs Megatron showdown. And in the cartoons, death didn't necessarily mean perma-death; pretty much like comic books, many eventually came back, even Prime was killed twice and came back.

I'm of course referring to **** LaBeouf taking out Megatron instead of Optimus Prime doing it, that was just wrong.Agreed.

Jazz's death sucked also but at least one Autobot had to bite it, so I could live with it.Agreed also, didn't want him to die, though it was quite good how he did.

Goes up against Megatron...

Jazz: 'You want a piece of me'
Megatron: 'Actually, I want two'
[Rips Jazz in half]

Starscream (The F-22) did survive, Barricade (Police Car) escaped as he didn't even participate in the final battle and unless Scorponok was attached to Blackout's (MH-53) back, then he also escaped.I knew Starscream survived, he was being chased by some F-22's at the end, though we didn't see him get taken out. I thought Barricade was dead though. Because:Bumblebee took him out when Barricade was going after Sam. You can clearly see that Bumblebee has quite literally laid out Barricade. - One assumes he is dead, only, you see him again later on driving down the road...

Also, Scorponok, was reading on Wiki that he used to be an Autobot :o

Though Megatron died, if you notice the fact that they dump his body almost entirely intact into the ocean saying it will "crush the remains from the pressure", the scene ominously screamed Megatron will be back for the sequel. Besides, they still owe us a real Prime vs Megatron showdown. And in the cartoons, death didn't necessarily mean perma-death; pretty much like comic books, many eventually came back, even Prime was killed twice and came back.Reincarnation, for those that actually 'died' anyway.. As for Megatron, I agree with you. He'll be back.

I expect this is only the beginning of the new incarnation of "The Transformers".I hope so. More movies like this, and it is sooooooooo going to rock. I just hope, that alike many sequels, they don't make the next one worse.

Well, you guys don't have to worry. in the first 48 hours, the movie made over $38 million (USD). That's not even it's first weekend. That starts tomorrow (today in some places). I have already learned that Shia has already been signed for the Sequel. I have already heard rumors that the script is already drafted.

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007 5:50AM CDT

Shia Labeouf discusses the acting challenges involved with making the Transformers Movie with IGN
and compares them with another film he is starring in, Disturbia. Shia also confirms that he is signed up for the Transformers sequel.

"There's things you f***ing hate in that type of movie, and there's things that you do enjoy," said LaBeouf of acting in a heavy effects film. "But it's a totally different thing. You show up [for Disturbia] and you have David Morse to act off of. There's a security to it as opposed to [acting opposite] a ball and stick [in Transformers]. There's no way of telling if you and this robot — even after you've gotten your performance down, you've got animators that are going to take the robot and animate it. So it's a 50/50 play and you don't really know how it's going to turn out. Where as in Disturbia you could go back and look at the monitor and see if you felt it or not; in Transformers, we never had that. It was always this ambiguous 'maybe it'll work, maybe it won't' through the whole production. There was no security. And the relationship I had with [director Michael] Bay was not this nurturing, pat on the back [thing]. He was General Patton and you kind of have to be to make those movies."

Prior to the interview, LaBeouf was discussing his new physical training program — one designed to help the young actor "bulk up." Ironically enough, that nondescript conversation led to an exciting revelation.

"That's part of the bulk-up; they talk about the sequels," said LaBeouf of his role in Transformers. "I'm signed up if they do them, yeah."

Tycoon, Yes, there are literally hundreds of other transformers they can add to any sequel. If you go by all the toy lines over the last several years, or even just the TF cartoons. That's not including any "new" characters they may create for the movies.

I think we can expect to see "Shockwave" in the sequel

Dinobots have reappeared over the years after the first series. However, each time, they (Hasbro or Takai?? - The makers of the Toons and Toys) change them. But this movie is based on G1, not anything else. If we do see them on the silverscreen, they will be huge....

What happened on the Video Game ending?

Lets see if I get this done right, I'll try to hide it since Syf hasn't seen it yet:

The game has two campaigns, the Autobot and Decepticons naturally. When you win with the Decepticons, Megatron uses his whip to tear through the chest of a beaten Optimus and then literally causes hell on Earth as he drains the planet's resources. The Autobot ending they show Megatron deactivating beaten on the ground, Optimus goes to check up on Sam and the Allspark then from the background Megatron jumps at them with his whip. As Megatron swings his whip at them, Optimus grabs the whip with one hand and pulls Megatron directly into his other fist, smashing his fist clean through Megatron's head and crushing it about halfway in. Then you get a similar speech about the Autobots finding a new home as the four survivor autobots look to the city.

Also something that caught me off guard is that in the game none of the Decepticons survive. I was kind off expecting that in the movie but was surprised when some escaped.

Bumblebee smacked Barricade down but I think they show his eyes still active. In any case they clearly show him going to the final battle but he never actually gets there, guess he saw the Autobot smackdown and figured he'd have an expanded life if he just turned around and went to give parking tickets somewhere far away...

While I liked the military vs robot stuff, I hope the next one is less human (cough* LaBeouf) centered and more robot centered, also try for a little less comedy...some is good but not some schlapstick every 30 seconds, especially about making the Autobots clumsy oafs.

The Dinobots would be cool to see but five giant metal dinosaurs really don't blend in, neither would the Insecticons. Here's hoping to see the Constructicons and Devastator and the bunch of emergency vehicle Autobots that made Protector.

I just hope they don't go straight to the Unicron storyline in the Sequel. I'd like to see at least 2-5 more movies of the Transformers before that happens. But here's to hoping.

I didn't mind the slapstick comedy so much. I was a bit bothered by the fact the OP didn't take down Megabreath. But, I am sure megabreath will be back in the next movie. I would like to see More transformers period in the next film. But, as a revenge, I'd like to see prime rip apart several Decepticons with His bare hands.

Ahem, curiosity here, what is this Unicorn Storyline that you've mentioned?

The 1986 Transformers movie introduced Unicron who was a gigantic robot that transformed into a planet or moon, he then ate other planets and moons, something similar in concept to Marvel's Galactus.

In the opening 20 minutes almost every Autobot and Decepticon we know got wasted (Including Optimus) to introduce the lamest and cheapest wannabe imitations of new Hasbro Transformer designs.

Unicron found the rotting carcasses of many of the Decepticons (Including Megatron) and transformed them into a whole bunch of ****py new designs to serve him. By film's end Unicron exploded and appeared in the series as a floating head that barked out orders.

As for Unicron, he was a floating head in space for a season or two...the final of the real Transformers series; not that Beast Wars/Energon/Armada/Cybertron anime Tarnsformers that came out in the 90s. I think he got destroyed but I can't remember exactly how or when.

The Unicron storyline, if you mean the 1986 movie, wasn't the end of the series; they simply killed off most characters to replace them with a bunch of new ones to sell more toys, they say it in the 20th anniversary 1986 movie DVD supplements.

The death of Optimus sparked a huge firestorm on their end, similar to what happened once Cyclops was killed in X3, but this was before the internet so it was huge letter campaigns. It was so bad that these people who also did the GI Joe series, had to change the ending of the GI Joe movie where Duke died to avoid the same thing from happening twice. Optimus would eventually be resurrected twice, the second time permenantly because the character was way too popular; especially considering his shabby replacement Rodimus Prime.

The series lasted for another 3 years after the movie; the last storyline I recall was an infection spread by touch which turned every robot (Autobot and Decepticon) into a raging psycho, similar to what was done in 28 days later. Optimus was the one that managed to cure everyone and I recall the Autobots and Decepticons made peace.

I checked and there is a 3 part episode after that called Rebirth, I never saw it but if you're interested in a full episdoe guide here's the link:

If you think of other films, such as Fantastic 4, or X-Men, things from film - comic change, simply because it makes the film better ;)

I would say the obvious, the Return of Megatron. But before we see him, it will be a power struggle between Starscream and (?), along with them harassing the autobots and causing chaos in the city, etc..

That's always been the appeal of Transformers. They're different than the shows they compete with.

I myself will be pleased when the second on is released. This is a movie that will be added to my collection of DVDs.

But before we see him, it will be a power struggle between Starscream and (?)These being the sequence of events, do you expect to see Starscream dead at the end of it? It being the second movie?

Just a little fun here. Anyone likes the Movie and the toys, you'll like this.

On Hasbro's site, they have a game.. well, it's a movie maker. You can make your own movies with the "toy" versions of the movie characters.

My kids love this stuff, so here's my lil' movie... Enjoy.

I'll look at the movie later lol. and admit that I have both the Prime and Megatron Leader class figures. Of which Prime is by far much better quality.

wont sending pestering kids to a toy site just make them want them though, and thus cause demands for money later?

I've just pre-ordered mine from Amazon. Should get it the day it comes out (December 2nd) or day after depending on if there's another postal strike.

Anyway, simply put; best film I've ever seen. Spectacular CGI integration, plot was good and, of course, it had giant transforming robots that were fighting each other in a really realistic way.

Liked the way they made references to the original, ('there's more to you than meets the eye...)

Now I'm just ticking off the days till December 2nd
