Babylon 5: Age Of Expansion
Vice-Admiral Hamato sighed. He looked at the large viewscreen of the Operations Center of the EAS Athene, Hyperion class.
Though having the official rank Lieutenant General he felt more comfortable with being called "Vice-Admiral". Earthforce allowed this title, but not tank, to the command staff officers. So for his crews, the 50-year old Japanese was an Admiral.
A young Commander entered the Op-C and greeted Hamato briefly. The Commander, a Canadian native, sat then down on a console near the viewscreen.
A call came in.
"Bridge to Op-C. We are closing in on Tyree system. The long range scouts are reporting a Markab fleet on the brink of destruction." The Captain of the Athene waited for Hamato to reply.
"Understood, Captain. Move to rendez-vous co-ordinates and wait for orders."
"Aye, Sir." said the captain and closed the comm-channel.
A few minutes later Task Force 77 of the Earth Alliance was waiting in hyperspace for Hamato's orders.
The Admiral opened a channel to all ships of TF 77.
"This is Admiral Hamato to all ships. Launch fighters and prepare for jump. Maintain combat readyness!"
Fighters where launched, guns activated and defense grids heated up.
Then, Hamato gave the final order before moving into a war.
"Execute jump!"
A dozen jump points opened and released the Task Force 77 of Earthforce into normal space. Fifteen Hyperions, ten Novas, twelve Artemis frigates and several dozen Nova starfuries engaged the Dilgar Fleet attacking the Markab space facility.
Quickly the Dilgar turned their eyes on the Earthforce units and tried to increase the distance between them and the EA ships. But this brought them into range of the heavy Nova turrets, that blasted away five attacking Dilgar battlecruisers.
The Dilgars then tried to penetrate the screen of heavy turret fire with fighters and harass the Hyperions and Novas with the heavy Thorun fighter, that caused much damage to the fighters of the League of Non-Aligned worlds.
This was also a failure, as the EA ships were fitted with interceptors that quickly vanquished most Dilgar fighters. The rest was done by the Nova Starfury pilots.
Now Task Force 77 itself moved onto the Dilgar ships staying in the background. The fast Artemis frigates tracked them down and crippled or destroyed many with the heavy railguns.
Hamato saw the outcome of the battle with satisfaction. The highly trained and motivated Earthforce crews and pilots did they job well. Though the Dilgar managed to destroy two Hyperions and a Nova, the loss rate was still acceptable -- from a tactical point of view. Of course was the loss of these ships and crews a great pitty, but it seemed that most crews made it to the resuce pods.
Then the Dilgar saw the defeat and tried to escape into hyperspace, what they then did, but not before losing three more warships to the Earth Alliance Task Force.
It was the 12th December of 2231, the Dilgar were overthrowing the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, but now, they had an adversary like none before: The Earth Alliance was at war with the Dilgar Empire. It was a war of liberation, of great deeds and tragic events. It was the basis of power of the Earth Alliance for more than 50 years...
Babylon 5: Age Of Expansion is about these wars and events, that brought the Earth Alliance to a known power in our part of the galaxy.
This mod for ST Armada II is focusing on the singer player campaign and replacing the Federation, Klingon and Borg campaigns with authentic campaigns from the Babylon 5 universe.
Hereby the Federation will be replaced by the Earth Alliance fighing the Dilgar and Minbari, the Klingons by the Narn Regime struggling a border war with the Centauri and the Borg with the Centauri keeping the Narns at bay.
The decision about the Borg and Klingon SP camapaigns is not yet definite and might be subject to change. I am not too sure if I replace the Borg campaign with a Minbari one, where the boneheads (no offense to any Minbari on the net) have to struggle with a minor power in they backyard. Maybe the Stribe...
For this mod I really could need some help.
1. I need a modeller who's doing ships and stations of the Dilgar Empire and a few League powers.
2. Someone very creative who could work out some new (old) designs for the League powers and other races is also appreciated.
3. Anyone with AI knowledge is very welcomed.
4. Weapon textures are a further topic I need the help of someone.
If you want to participate, please contact me via PM or just post here and SAY WHAT YOU CAN DO, WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT!
And again: VOICE ACTORS NEEDED! Here even more than with Modern Space Combat, as I am redoing a campaign with speech etc...
