The guys at SCN have created a conjectural USS Enterprise based on what was seen on the teaser trailer. What do you guys think of the design?

To be honest I prefer some of the fan designs out there like MadKoiFish's one (for an example) compared to this one. I even prefer the design in some of your sigs and avatars Jetfreak.
The registry is too big on this one and too far forward and the main hull needs some work on the bottom to me but apart from that looking good.

I think it fit well.
Given if you take it for what it is. It was the same way with the Battlestar fans when they redid Galactica we well alway have the original Enterprise in the back of our minds and love the old girl
But if you look at the design of the ship as a evolution from Nx to the A it works very well and fits better than the old model
The design is... different to say the least. I'm not quite sure it fits in as pre-TOS though. Looks morelike something that would come somewhere else. It really doesn't fit in before or after TOS, its morelike something that would come after ENT.
As for the design though, I think the nacelles are oversized. In addition to that, the torpedo tubes should be moved to the under-saucer dome, else it is too much like TMP. TOS Connies shot from under the saucer, not from the neck.

I think you are forgetting the movie is a remake, not part of the TOS or anything other than Enterprise. Having new actors to play established characters is a clear view of this, so I think the design for the most part fits.

Maybe it fits, but it is extremly ugly, especially the nacelles.
The first image posted by Jetfreak is... well.... Un-becoming of anything trek. I applaude the modeler's skills, but that is all.
The second one is more like a pre-TOS version... I can see that. with that in mind, the re-mastered TOS conny then fits well into the line. So I can see the second one being a pre-fit of the TOS conny (with respect that I think the remastered version looks 10x better than the original 1960's model... That's because of the power of computers in modern time mind you).
One thing that I can say, never expect to see "the old girl" the way she was back at the beginning of Star Trek, as it's not going to happen. Hollywood can not leave good things alone anyways, regardless the show it's based on. Just think if Superman looked the same as the original, or the X-Men, or anything else...

There's a big difference between Superman / X-Men and Trek, notably, they had ongoing storylines (in Supes' case, since the thirties) while Trek had three years of intermittently wonderful and frequently terrible storytelling from which the legend was born.
So they feel justified in "rebirth" simply because there's no real alternative. Trek fans are arguably the hardest fanbase to please, without much remorse ESPECIALLY when it comes to the "old girl". Even if they showed her in precisely the same way as she looked in the 1960s --even if they stole Greg Jein's work for DS9-- it'd be *****ed about on the Internet.
Personally, I think they're fools to trifle with the original Constitution class design-- a few shiny colourful bits here and there only mar the original design, which had its simplicity and clarity of form as the most engaging part of its design.
But then again, I think they're fools if they bring this whole franchise out of storage without a plot and a character interaction on par or better than the truly classic episodes of the original series.
We've had to do the "let's pretend this was all just a bad dream" reset button numerous times before as fans of Trek. Whether or not we press it again depends not on the ship, but the story set in and around it. We can always retcon the special effects sequences later if they're worth the effort. But this all may simply be best forgotten in a year's time. We'll see.

I personally think if the story and actors are good and if the design changes more towards Gabe Koerner's design it will be a good movie.
Though personally after seeing In a Mirror Darkly, I would've preferred a TOS movie or series set on another TOS ship even if it was another Constitution fighting the Klingon, Romulans and doing the 5 year mission of exploration, but we can't have everything and should just be glad that Star Trek is coming back so soon as I did hear after Enterprise's cancellation that they were going to have a 10 year break or something and it's certainly hasn't been 10 years yet, it hasn't even been 5 yet.

Yep, totally agree. The ships looked stunning in that episode. It just left me wanting to see more TOS. Not some re-imagined stuff like it seems we are getting:roll:
I would have preferred another series altogether based not on a prequel but on a sequel to Voyager and Nemesis, but hey, can't turn back time can you (or can you?).
The new design isn't absolutely nauseating, but the saucer is really where the problem is. The registry is too far forward and just too large and for as large as the letters and numbers are, the letters don't look bold enough for how large they are (thankfully of course). But if the letters were like they were on the original ship, it would look better.
Something just seems out of proportion on the new design. But I like it in some ways.
Just think though, they'll have to redo the Enterprise-A, -B, -C, -D, and -E because of what Enterprise did.
I like the Gabe Koerner version. not overly keen on the other, its too.... i dunno, it just doesnt look right, like its disproportioned

Does anyone else feel the first design looks like something Tom Paris might have played with in "Captain Proton"? Its a leap BACKWARDS, back to the 1930s-Flash Gordon-Buck Rogers-Rocket Ship-look.

The second is much better, and to add further fire to the "neck vs saucer" torpedo tube debate, with KA2 I always imagined that the torpedo tubes on TOS ships were in the bulges either side of the main deflector. These bulges weren't there on the TOS Pilot type model, (when according to certain articles, the Federation didn't use Photon Torpedoes and Phaser Emitters but Lasers and a form of Long-Range Particle Accellerator Cannon). In ships with no engineering hull, like the Saladin and Akula, I imagined the torpedo tubes were mounted forwards on either side of the lower nacelle. With the new advances in engineering leading to TMP style ships, and the increased size of the new enclosed deflector array, the torpedo tubes were moved to a pod on the neck or lower nacelle mount, which served the dual purpose of simpler mountings and being mounted in less critical locations (reducing the chance of an ammunition malfunction or chain reaction from a weapons hit destroying large populated sections of the ship. An explosion in the neck or nacelle mount would merely seperate the saucer and engineering hull or detach the nacelle, disabling the ship but not causing the same sort of damage as an explosion in a magazine in the engineering hull would cause)

Yesss! :D I once saw Undiscovered Country on big screen at it was wooooaw :lol:
But as it was pointed out before: this Constition is part of this "re-imagined" Trek. One can live with it. I guess it is really like with the fans of old BSG that are not too fond of the new design.
I'll let the movie surprise me.
