Majestic

Could all members please post how you found this site. I am interested to know where people are coming from and what is working and what isn't.
I always knew about Majestic's site/s as he told me all about them and kept me informed about changes he was making. He gave me the URL, I visited, liked what I saw and joined!
To answer the question, I didn't find it... It found me!8-)
I just Came back from holiday and it was all different !
Hi every1 :D :D
That's knida what happened to me, only i didn't go anywhere. I clicked on my link here and i got this really weird fourm and i pseudopanicked.
I think this would have been a good approximation of what I looked like: :Y
I found Majestic's site...the moment it opened. When was that? Must have been, oh, late June 2005, around the time the AFC RPG was beginning to have it's death gasps. It was known as Majestic's Downloads until early the next year (2006). Shortly after that, I put up a free site on an invision board (LoL) and that was on July 6, 2005. A teamspeak server went up on August 8, 2005. Then Majestic's site moved from 1-2-Free forums to Forumup, and remained there for a good while. Then in December 2005 to January 2006 (around the time I made the decision to expand my server business), Majestic's site finally got its own domain (thanks for paying all that money for all this by the way) and it became Majestic Sci-Fi Central.
To make a long story short, that's all found in the History thread, of course, but just to mention that I've been here for the whole time. Some faces have come and gone since then, one recently who I felt bad for since she couldn't be here anymore. However, we will soon see a new face around here as I'm getting Amy here. She's sort of shy with new communities, she sure was when I brought her in on the server thing sometime before we were married.
So yep, we have a new ship for the fleet, um, I mean, we have a new member for the, um, community. LoL. :D
I've been here from the beginning and will be here till the end. My word shall remain true. Good luck with all the enhancements that are being made. I know one thing is for sure, php coding is a neck-breaker, but then sql is even worse cause I have no idea what all that's about LoL. And I took a course on it, got a C in that. And I'm rambling once more.
Salute!

I found it through Fedhog Files, when Majestic was showing off all his graphics and stuff. Then he posted an ad for crossovers, which led me here. :D That was in mid/late '07
I found it via A2files while looking at the mod profile page for Parallels.
I was invited after offering some stargate models to Parallels...
And haven't regretted it since :)

I was at one point a member of the Microverse, years ago. My Cold Front mods were going to join the Federations and Mirror Wars mods... Though at about this same time I stopped having enough time for modding, so had to vanish and be forgotten for a while. When I returned from the abyss, MSFC had been created.
I still have the template for the site I'd made for the Microverse, somewhere in the archives...

:lol2: Yeah I stumbled across it one day browsing the net.
No seriously I did. :p
To be totally honest, I didn't make MSFC, the community did. Back in the olden golden days, back when I was a full-time and very active member of AFC some of us got it into our heads to go make our own site due to a few *not need to be mentioned* problems at AFC.
People like CrazyFrog, Hellkite, Blindeye, Harrie, EAS_Intrepid, Borg_Queen among others came with me and we started Majestic Downloads on one of those very buggy and limited free forum sites. We later changed the name to Majestic Sci-Fi Central and then just recently MSFC.
Oh I'm getting ahead of myself here.
Well after a few moves to other free sites, manual back-up mind you. Meaning the staff did a post by post copy which was a big attempt and undertaking we moved to another free forum site. After tedious errors and downtime, Syf (only a moderator back then) came up with the idea of putting some money in and making our own site, domain name and all that jazz. We purchased the www.majesticscificentral.com
(http://www.majesticscificentral.com) domain name (which we recently have let go) and a hosting package. We used the phpbb forum software for a few months till we decided to buy vBulletin and that is when we expanded.
Finally just last year we moved hosts after the amount of problems they have been having and being fed up with it. Also we got a new domain name, the one we use now thanks to Katala.
But the success of the site boils down to our community and their constant efforts in making the site what it is. Posting, being who they are, releasing mods/fan fiction etc has been what has made MSFC. I truly don't think of MSFC as mine, even though I legally own it. I see it as ours, I and the staff work to maintain it and to ward off anyone coming to cause problems. Thats the only reason we exist (we'll keep the biological creation out of this one), to help you enjoy a site in a safe, discrimination free environment.
In a way we work for you like a military or political leader (is supposed to) works for their country and citizenship.
Well my mumbo jumbo, lengthy and somewhat sleep inducing speech is over. I bet you wished you got those past 3 minutes of your life back now. :lol2:

Well... how did I come here...
One or two months ago we had a discussion about BSG content not being released over at A2Files. I think you remember that one, Majestic...
Well, you and Thunderfoot invited me and I got here as fast as I could. Now I'm lurking around here and posting screenshots and lulz now and then.
I joined the H:FC team over at A2 Files and Dino suggested that I should come here, since we had our own forum section.

Hey, Maj? I'll bet I can put everyone to sleep faster than you can about how I came here, lol. Here goes.
Way back when over at the other A2 site's forums. Majestic breezed in one day, all guns blazing, about people using the A2 SOD importer/exporter to steal models from other modders. I had only recently gotten the thing and was just starting to look at models others did to see how they did what they did. I kinda resented being labelled that way before I'd ever released any ships at all. So I returned fire. After we both calmed down, I realized Majestic was upset over a principle. I thought on it further and concluded even if if I did not care for his words or tone, he did have a point. So I got over myself and moved on. I was looking forward to the YY A2 mod and registered over here to ensure I would be one of the ones who was able to D/L it. I then promptly forgot my password for here. In the meantime, MSFC was catching a lot of flak from a lot of people over some unpleasant things going on for which people here were not responsible at all. Pretty unfair, I thought. As a sign of good faith, since I had the Physics Project up and running, I tried to get in touch with Majestic through third parties to offer MSFC my rather small collection of A2 mods for hosting here. This did not occur the way I intended. I should not have relied upon others to do something for me. After a few months, I kinda gave up on it and decided it wasn't gonna happen and there was little I could do about it. I could not access my account here(forgotten password) and was just groovin' along on a few other things until one day out of the blue Maj responded to a PM I sent him via the other a2 site. Got the old account deleted. Registered again here. Remembered the password this time, lol. Started posting and sending in stuff. Been here ever since. Like the MSFC crowd and site so much, stopped going other places.
So now, you've lost more time you want back, lol.
Everyone might notice I posted here before, but I refound MSFC through a member here known as "Starlight" who was herself reminded to get back on here by someone else. In addition, I came back here finding myself more active than ever because of the failure of some previous endeavors. The broken road that's been my past has led me right back here to find a new place to call home. If you're religious you could say that God acts in mysterious ways and if you're not, you could say that things just happen to work out in really random ways at times. And if you're like me you'll just say, however it did happen, all's I know is that it did.
And may I say, this place kicks arse and looks better than ever! Be proud of what you've accomplished here, Majestic & co.
And olden golden days, Majestic? I rather like how it is here now as opposed to the beginning. Those long-past days weren't impressive times. But they are impressive in one way - they got us all started in what we would all be doing up to now. If it weren't for history going as it did, if not for the problems on AFC with mainly an RPG that I myself was involved with, I don't know how it would have gone. Although, Majestic's Downloads DID exist since 2002 or 2001, so I imagine that the end result would have been similar no matter how history went - not because of fate, but because you Majestic were determined to learn about this stuff, and got great at it! Yes, the community made it, but those first days when it was just Majestic's Downloads began with you. You had rough times, and I'm glad you never gave up. I know first-hand and the hard way that this is the important thing - trying and not giving up, giving it your best and fighting the good fight.
You handled your staff positions with objectivity from what I've heard and seen, and have blended that with a good personality. You have staff who are your friends, and are the best for the job. Both of those things are difficult combinations to work out. And it wasn't just luck. I must say for one that you have a revered and well-earned position - one that I would not want to have because there are those who can lead, and then there are those who...have a lot of trouble with the concept. For example, I can do development to a certain degree, but dealing with mostly-anonymous people has never been my forteit. We all have what we're good at, and things that we aren't so good at. So it takes team work, which seems to be reflected on this site as an ideal that everyone follows. Teamwork is a concept that is easy to understand, yet difficult to execute. Such is life!
Now I'm sure that's 3 minutes everyone wants back!:lol2:

There were some lets say less than golden times, but in the long run I think it has been a very important learning and rewarding experience.
I mean if I can bring up examples posted by both Thunderfoot and Elrond:
The SOD importer issues, while hard on us all something that fractured the gaming community it was also a learning experience for me. It moulded Syf and I to becoming a strong support for artist rights and MSFC as a place to show these principles. Added to that it gave me the motivation to learn to model, the way may of the earliest and most talent modellers did, but starting from scratch using trial and error.
People also gained a lot of respect for each other out of the incident and people no matter what side they were on (for or against) are still talking today and some are even close friends.
The Shattered Universe RPG, it allowed for the creation of MSFC and the RPG Adventures of Midway. Without that, MSFC may not have been or at least not what it is today. It also taught me personally that there are more than a single site out there and more to life than the net. It also showed me that no matter what country you're in you can still have close friends on the other side of the globe, some that you've never met and probably never will in real life.
So I think history is a rather important part of life, no matter if your learning history about World War 2, Ancient Greece or your own personal history. It's something I hold to great esteem and I thanked happening.
Did you know if I never broke up with my first girlfriend (control freak) I would never had returned to AFC which in turned allow me to meet Syf, Borg_Queen, Hellkite, Elrond and many others which in itself allowed MSFC to be born.
Now that's a scary thought.

How did I find MSFC?
Majestic of course!
Met him through the FF forums - though "this is a stand up guy - I think I'll check this site he keep s mentioning..."
Of course, this was back when he was working on YY, and I on Star Trek: Beginnings... So much water under the bridge, so many memories...
Of course, this was, what? back in 2006 (ish) ? And I left the community for a wee while - when I came back - I found I had been purged, as a non - active member... So I re - applied to Majestic and BOOM - here I am, back in the saddle... did I say saddle? I meant harness... GIDDYUP!
Also - I have a new H:FC model to send - is Dan still around here?
I found MSFC by way of Majestic!
Was watching this geeky guy in class one day just grinning like a cheshire cat everytime I turned around, I kept wondering wtf he was smiling at all the time!
Anyways when he saw the site A was an admin of, he suggested I check out MSFC so after him constantly begging me to look I did! So I looked every day to keep him happy!
After we started dating I decided to join! Now we are one big happy family! Now I love coming on MSFC with the awesome friendly community to chat to! That was almost 2years ago when I joined!
Lets see, I came here with the stargate project and despite the project not getting finished I stayed because of the good people here. Made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun. :)
I found it while browsing the A2files affiliates. I must say I never expected to find such a great site:thumbsup:

I found the site address in the small print on a crop circle in Arizona.
:p well I really dont remember exactly, I think there was that big blow out over the sod importer and I heard this place being mentioned, I know the guys involved here are good people so I checked it out.
I found MSFC through someone's signature on filefront (I can't remember who that was though, I think it might have been Majestic) and the site was more active than filefront itself so that's why I'm here :) Hi!
Through a comment first on one of my pics then in a link in a journal entry on deviant Art.
Thats about the whole path apart from another mention on XCalPro forum.

This thread is a very good one. I originally found this site when someone posted on Armada2files that he should upload his files here, since filefront is having hiccups.
My first reaction was huh? There is another website with starships up for download? So I checked it out and you have a lot of things going on so I thought, what the heck I usually don't join groups, because as Groucho Marx said, "I wouldn't want to be in any group that would have a guy like me in it," or something to that effect, but in this case lets try it out.
