I'm actually in a three-way tie for Favorite Trek Ship, but I'll list 'em anyway.

Constitution Refit - I liked the original Matt Jefferies design, but the Refit slipped in and stole the top contender slot for favorite Federation Starship. Following close behind this class would be: Steamrunner-class, NX-class, and Intrepid-class

D'deridex Warbird - Romulans being my favorite Trek Race (contrary to what my username says), this is an easy choice. On SFC3 (prior to the Steamrunner MOD), all I would play would be the Romulans and I'd save up prestige for the day I could acquire the Pride of the Romulan Empire. Cloaking Technology, Massive Size, and purty purty green Hull mark this as my preeminent Romulan Design. Following close behind this class would be: Romulan Warbird (TOS), Romulan Shadow (A2)

Tholian "Web" Ship - From our first glimpse of these starships in TOS: 'The Tholian Web' to their return in Enterprise, the Tholians have always fascinated me. I'm unsure what the exact class of the Tholian 'Web' Ship is called, but I've always been told it was 'Ruby'. Ah well.

That's my favorites.

hmm, there have been many great ships in star trek, but my favourite would have to be the Borg Sphere.

Federation: Any unconventional design. Nebula, Prometheus, constellation, "Dauntless"

Klingon: BOP

Borg: Tatical cube

Just to name a few.

For all the other races, the Vor'cha.

I always loved the Constitution class both the TOS and Refit versions. I also liked the Excelsior class though not the Ent-B type. I also love the D7/K'Tinga class, gotta love the TOS/TMP Klingons they had spirit unlike the TNG ones.

Alright, my turn. :D

Reman: Scimitar (ok, so we have only seen one so far :yum: ).

That's all I can think of now. :D

Followed quickly by the Romulan D'Deridex and Jem'Hadar Attack ship =D

I would have to say the Sovereign class. It just seems the most complete to me. Also, it seems to be the one that can withstand in a fight the most. Before it I always liked the Defiant class. Something about the pulse cannons that it has. I would be happy to command either. A defiant class would be nice. Ofcourse, I have always had a thing for lots of guns and ships that can not only give a good fight but take one as well. So, I guess it would be a toss up between the two. The deciding factor would be how many crew I get. LOL.

La Patience
29-01-2008, 02:59
Hee Id prefere the defiant but thats because i've seen more of it being a huge DS9 fan LOL plus it6 could ring circles around the Sovereign class hee.

CrazyFrog1903

Think that is why they are even in my eyes. It would depend on the mission they were needed for. I know the Kazon would have been no match for a defiant class....LOL

In my honest opinion, the Wells class is a beautiful work of art. I just loved the way the hull changes color depending on viewing angle.

As I'm in a rush, I'll post more about individual race favorites later, when I get a chance.

:lol2: Run rings around it and still get blown to bits by the Sov's type XII Phaser Arrays, kinda hard to dodge a weapon that moves very very close to lightspeed... :D

For the Cardies I like the Hutet, Klingons is the Vor'cha, and Romulans favorite is the Norexan (Mogai). No other races really have anything I like...

The Class of ship that the webspinners in "The Tholian Web" belonged to was the Feldspar Class. The Ruby is much bigger, although similar (more curved) in shape. Both names are totally un-canon though.

Mine would be the Romulan D7. Although we didn't get too good a look at it, if it has the same hull colouring and such as the Romulan BoP then shes definately my fave canon ship.

Btw, I'll make my minirant here. For all those who are unsure, the correct spelling is canon, as in the classical piece Canon in D Minor. It originally refered (and still does) as to what is considered the "truth" by the Catholic Church. Doesn't exactly change a lot but, for example they have stopped trying to burn witches and declare that the world is flat :)

Cannon however, is an entirely different thing ;) (i.e large bore unrifled chemical projectile weapon)

Hello:
As like many of you, I could name favourite ships per race, but my greatest favourites are the Constitution class (all of them) and the Nebula Class, the Nebby just rocks and it is as useful and versatil as it's larger sibling the Galaxy

all of this said the 'starsailer' ancient bajoran craft from DS9 definitely had something very special which 'mora advanced ships' are missing out on.

I suppose much int he same way modern ships will never really be as aesthetic to my mind as the tall sailers.

would I want to?? I have.

her name was the RSS Huntley (schooner rigged crew of 11)and she was a replica of the rather famous HMS pickle , fought at trafalgar and rescued several folks from the after... including a naked noblewoman and a motely clad jester...

Many thousands of folk every year take to the seas on similar vessels, some for military training (because even the navy thinks there is something to be gained from the understandings of wind wave and teamwork that a sail ship provides) and some for simple pleasure (monster-hotel-come cruise liner or tall sailing ship... not a difficult chocie)

I'm not saying that they would be anywhere near as fun when the high velocity rounds started flying, but how many round the world motor boat races do you know about?? and can you really tell me it would capture anyone's imagination to the same extent?

if you meant on a tall sailer under the historical conditions, then that is anothr question altogether and it might be worth pointing out that for the time period conditions on lots of those ships were better than the equivalent person could recive on land (most of the C19 naval Tars were volunteers by quite a margin.. but i guess the alcoholic equivalent of two bottles of modern white rum a day, on top of the beer, sort of helped.)

A close second would be the Sovereign, first TNG era Starfleet ship that looked like an actual military ship and not a luxury liner.

3rd place: Constitution Class Refit: (instant classic -nuff said)

I shall always be a fan of the Excelsior Class. It shares the same unique design that started trek, from the TOS Enterprise, through to the Ent-A Constitution Refit. It goes without saying, that the Excelsior will always be a favourite of mine.

In addition to that though, I also like the Galaxy, Sabre, and Akira. All for very different reasons.

In regard to other races, the Klingon Vor'cha is going to be one of the top dogs, as is the Bird of Prey. These ships are a legend in their own right.

Can't say I'm a fan of the Intrepid or Sovereign though. They do look ok, but they don't really do it for me.

VieVentar
02-06-2008, 11:33
Out of the entire range of ships available... ..the Ambassador class.

Not sure why, but its design seems fundamentally right to me.
Plus the fact that we rarely saw it in canon helped there, made it a little exotic.

If I'm allowed to go with non canon, I'd be a shameless self publicist and support the Huitzilin (Hummingbird) class. Think intrepid, now think of it being stretched out and reduced to 10-15 decks, but with the extra length compensating for the loss of decks by making the existing ones longer. Long nacelles, double curved into a classic 1930's Tear-drop rear wheel cover form (Think Talbot T150 SS Tear-drop coupe).

Designed it as a post TNG ship intended to be a high speed courier, designed to take personnel or equipment across sectors at high speed, handing them over to a more multi-purpose vessel or outpost, then serving as a science cruiser between these duties. But, canon only so I cant. Nevermind.

Creed I agree with you there. Being an Ex-Naval Sailor I can say this for a fact the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) Is still Commissioned and is Considered Cream of the Crop Orders, if I was to get orders to a Boat I would want it to be her. and as Picard said "Wind in your hair the stars to guide you..."

Now for the assimilation of the Scimitar well the Borg would have to be fast because one shot from that Theleron Weapon would Stop even the largest Borg Cube in its Tracks with in a Minute.

As for my Fav ship:

Feds: Nova, good little ship.
Cards: Keldon (Obsidian Order Version.)

My favorite Canon Star Trek ship? I have two of them and you're going to make me choose? I choose...

Klingon D-7 Battlecrusier

All you Federation grass eaters out there can keep all those fancy-schmantzy Starfleet ships. I'd rather ship aboard an honest warship than a "science and exploration" vessel. Which mounts weapons. For the Empire! For Kahless!

Intrepid (Very Agile and Adaptable. The design rocks too)

I really loved the Bug designs, like the Attack cruiser. They are my favourite TNG era race and One day I'll get back to doing a complete full race comparable to the Cardassian one I am doing. I have to, they are my favourite race.

Oooh... no love for the poor Galaxy?

Favourite CANNON ship...

My top three...

Number 1:

The Original Constitution Class. Without doubt - it has lovely clean lines, and for me (and probably many others) it is the very symbol of Trekdom...

Number 2:

The D'deridex Class. I just love this design - the massive scale of it. I love the bird concept too.

Number 3.

The Dominion Bug. A very cool design - it kinda created an identity for the dominion, what, with the purple glows and the distinctive shape and all...

Yep - my top three... Connie wins though...

Favorite Star Trek ship?

Galaxy-Class. Hands-down. TNG was the first Star Trek series I watched before being introduced to the others. I find this a bit funny since Generations aired the year I was born, meaning TNG as a series was over and DS9 was well underway.

Back to the point at hand, the Galaxy-Class is my favorite ship for a variety of reasons, other than being the first ship I saw.

A. She represents the objectives of the UFP as a whole. Many space-faring aliens working together on the undending quest for knowledge. At the same time, they were a powerful military force that would not sit around when facing danger.
The Galaxy was a perfect representation of that. She was equipped with state-of-the-art scientific technologies, had enough firepower to hold her own (given the proper circumstances), and she was built with the intent of having families on board her, to give it a sort of 'city-ship' kind of feel.
B. She was named Enterprise. That's seriously one of the biggest reasons I love the Galaxy-Class, since the one we were introduced to was the Enterprise herself, pride of the Federation. It's also most likely the reason why I was quick to accept the Sovereign-Class Enterprise-E, despite my feelings about replacing the Big D
There be mah stury, an' I'ma stickin' to eet :zipped

Favorite canon ships?
1. Excelsior (especially Enterprise-B refit)
She was way ahead of her age when she was developed, she was superior to anything the Federation ever encountered before and she has the nice clear lines of the older style ships.
2. Luna (It IS canon!)
On the contrarsy to the Excelsior, a very new-like ship with an unique narcelle configuration and a special sensor platform. She's just gorgerous. I like especially that the Luna was designed to an exploration vessel, so she's only capable to defend herself, but not strong enough to play a tactical role in battles.
3. Miranda
The most multi-functional ship in Starfleet (Surya, Miranda, Soyuz, Majestic, Saratoga, Knox, Daran, Lantree, Renegade, Ptolemy - differend (sub)classes based on the same frame!), which served almost as long as the Excelsior did.
4. Akira
The first ship directly designed for combat. HEr torpedo launchers make her able to destroy the enemy with torpedoes from any angles. And she looks beautiful.

1. Galaxy-X.
2. Excelsior Lakota Refit.
3. Defiant (The original... not the ****py clone)
