Hey guys, finally figured out my scanner:)sweat:) and can upload some of my modest doodles. The first of which is what will eventually be my design entry for the next enterprise contest.

The first image is the doodle, the others are scetches based on sections of the doodle, but are not scaled together, meaning they won't fit the doodle if you were to try to merge them.(I don't know why I did this, it is just how they turned out:confused:) I have yet to draw it all together but my sister, who is gonna make a cool digital version for me to use says what I have is enough for her to work with.

As you may have noticed, the ship is almost entirely encircled by a coil. I don't know what it is for, only that it is blue, pulsating, and that the nacelles are built around them, and the deflector focuses its energy.:D Really, I don't know what it is for. I thought it was cool and might possible give my somewhat standardly shaped ship an edge. The overall design of the ship is bigger, sleeker, and more generational than the sovereign, however it retains the same basic shape with down set nacelles and other obvious changes.

Please tell me what you like and don't like. I am completely open to CC.

If anything, the integrated organic aesthetic really makes this design stand out from most previous iterations of the Enterprise. It kinda evokes a reptilian-esque appearance actually, the curved profile and the "ribs" really emphasize that fact. She's not really very sleek design-wise but then again, looks aren't everything right? ;) (See: JJPrise) It also makes the overall design more believable in a sense, Starfleet wouldn't really go overboard to make something look "cool". Your Enterprise-F has a nice balance of form and function. Something that is badly lacking in current if not most STO Entries, sans Hellkite and a few others of course.

Your ship has some elements of the Sovereign and has a certain flair of its own. I could totally see this as predecessor of the Enterprise-J too.

That's pretty much my CC man, can't wait to see what your sister can dish out. :)

Me too:lol2:

Yeah, I spouse it is not as sleek as I had originally intended, however one key feature is that it does not have very much detail; on the underside. Very smooth, no deflector(on the underside), and very structurally sound.

Maybe like you said, more functional than pretty.

:lol2: A little more curvy in the forward section, but yes! Spot on.

The problem I"m having is is the nacelle section just doesn't make sense.:lol2: The nacelles are strangely shaped, the 'cylinder' is bent at weird angles to match the down set pylons.

My own design doesn't even make sense to me.:lol2:

Nice 2d drawing HK. I may after I get back into Trek and finish off your ship HK I might give Adm_Z's design a shot for him. :)

lol, well I still have no indication or desire to get back to trek atm, but when I do I want to get HK's Carrier done and sent off. But after that I will probably look into giving your design a shot. I treked myself out I think hence why I moved back to BSG.

I really like that first sketch, I may use it for inspiration for a non-trek project. :)

Here are the two pictures in the middle of the entry. I didn't really realize how high res they were until I put them in the picture.:lol2: But here they are, full res, so be careful when clicking the show button.

I wasn't talking about the numbers but the quality. There are a few very nice and detailed designs which I didn't see earlier.

ok, so i know this isn't a doodle, but this was the best thread I could think of to put it in. I"ll try to get some actual doodles up at some point in the future.

Anyway, today, as I do every other Thursday, I helped out with a children's nursery. My allergies have been acting up lately so I wasn't in a very stable mindset if you know what I mean.(headache, stuffy nose, etc.) Anyway, the kids wanted to build spaceships, and there just happen to be legos in the room(the bigger ones anyway, these kids were around 5 years old:p) So, you can imagine what I did with all this SW stuff on my mind. I was actually surprised that I had just enough of each color to do this. I'm hoping you can tell what they are. Crude at best, but still.

...this is what I get for being a geek I guess...*facepalm*

Heh, no need to be embarrassed. Happens to me all the time, just BT instead of SW. I think I've built the entire Davion Light Guards over time. :p

"BT" is game speak for "BattleTech". One of the better Mecha games, Z. Helping the kids get a head start on becoming the next generation of MSFC ers is a highly laudable and honorable accomplishment. Doing so while being under the weather only adds more lustre to your deed.

Yoda and Obi Wan would be proud of you. As I am.

Yeah Legos are timeless in my opinion. I used to build fairly intricate ships with mine or giant 4 sided triangles...which reminds me I still have some legos laying around somewhere....:D

tbh, there is a closet on my house full of them. :lol2:the real ones mind you not those ones thy make nowadays with pieces in the shape of guns, but the ones where you had to build a gun out of the closest things you could find. Most of them are still in the form of intricate ships and buildings that I had made. I use to be pretty good at building them.:) It is actually, indirectly, what got me starting programing.

Alright, so time for an actual doodle. I'm on vacation and had some creative inspiration(if you can call it that) and began to draw something i have envisioned before. I am calling it an intrepid mk2 because of its close resemblance, however it a bit larger, and really more akin to the achilles class in role. Here is a WIP drawing I"m working on. It has a similar profile to the intrepid as well.

Unlike the Intrepid, it doesn't have AVM, so its naclles stay where they are, however it has many of the other technologies as the intrepid.

It also has a shuttle bay in the same location as the intrepid, but it is on the underside and is 'upside down' meaning the shuttles enter the bay inverted on the y-axis.(I think )

Anyway, here is the pic. I don't really like where some of the phaser strips are and I am not sure what the nacelles will be like yet so their size and shape is tentative. there will be a line of windows between the lines on the hull, and ones along the sides of the bridge and ventral section of the ship.

shipscan1.jpg

The one thing I envisoned several times before was the shape and size of the 'saucer' section, and the way the windows are set up on it. I don't know why, but that shape seems visually appealing to me.

Feed back would be awesome(CC too), and keep in mind that it is WIP so it is a bit crude.

EDIT: attachment doesn't seem to work, so I will upload it a different way.

Ok did a little bit of digital editing, so here is a bilaterally symmetric view of the ship.
adjusted.png

And again, the nacelles are not even close to final. As it stands they are too big, probably too far out, etc.

The reason the atachment probably didn't work is due to it being too large, reduce it's size and you'll find it will work. Scanners and Digital Camera save pictures normally at a really high resolution, too large for convenient web use.

I like it, however it's a lot like the Intrepid, a bit too much, unless you're aiming at a Intrepid refit.
