I was in the process of rebuilding the ragtag fleet for my personal mod the other day. Seeing the difficulties of merging two mods together, I found myself manually adding every civilian unit from TF’s most recent BSG mod release to my game. I had to extract the odf, sod and textures and then balance them accordingly whilst setting up the necessary tooltips and the lot. Tedious? Yes, but also fulfilling mind you. It actually felt like I was going through some sort of messed up production line, you were adding some codes here, moving items from folder to folder and then you get the finished product in-game and ready to go! Proper scaling of every unit was also a freaking nightmare. Accurate Ex Astris Scientia styled scaling sheets for BSG craft are virtually non-existent so I had to continually visit the BSG wiki for reference LOL! Visiting the site also made me realize how much I messed up some of the ship names and sizes for the Battlestars. But we’ll get to that later. I’m really rambling here so let’s just get to the point.
Re-adding all those obscure and famous ships made me notice some barely noticeable quirks about their respective textures. No offense to Coxxon and the others involved but It’s funny. You had the usual typo here and there, a mirrored piece of text on the Colonial Liner, a biosphere that looks like it’s filled with water, afterburners that look like cheap plastic glow thingies and a ring ship with an interior of pure yellow! LOL! Suffice it to say, the overcritical nitpicky fanboy inside me demanded that something was needed to be done and fast! Was Jetfreak willing to undergo yet another re-texture project? He calmly answered: YES!
This is just a start so let’s just see where this all goes. My tinkering knows no bounds! HA!
Here is something typically done by most re-texturers, a blue striped version of the good ol' Viper. This particular one is from the Columbia...(surprise, surprise)
Here is something a lil' bit more complicated. I recolored Colonial One into a generic passenger liner. It seems reasonable eh? It's also named after a local bus company in the Philippines. In-jokes FTW.
And something I did for fun, this pretty much speaks for itself...
