I have been having a look at the May Optus magazine and found out that The Twilight Zone will debut on Fox Classics on Australian pay tv on Tuesday May 8. It will be shown on Tuesday to Saturday mornings sometime before or after 2am, time varies with each day, so check your guides for exact time.

Since it is Fox Classics, I can only assume that this is the original series that they are showing.

Years ago I bought Volumes 1 to 3 on DVD at Galaxy Bookshop in Sydney but stopped as I could not find anymore money in addition to the Doctor Who stuff that I buy plus stocks of them have since run out and I am glad to be resuming my viewing of the original series.

I have now found out that it is not the original series at all but the one from the 1980s starting with Nightcrawlers which is actually the third segment of the fourth instalment in the series!

The series has been shown in completely random order and I do not know how Fox Classics determines which episode to show on which particular day.

This morning's episode was Healer:
This episode has a thief who stole a prescious stone which has the power to heal hence the title of this episode. The episode was very good in teaching this character about the value of life.

If She Dies:
This is a heartwarming story of a father's love for his little girl in the aftermath of a car accident.

Night of the Meek:
This is the remake of the original episode of the same name by Rod Serling. This version was written by Farscape creator Rockne S. O'Bannon.
It has been a long time since I saw the original but I think this version is just as good as the original.

One Life, Furnished in Early Poverty:
A very poignant story of a man going back in time to meet himself as a boy.
A warming lesson about life.

The Girl I Married:
What a stupid story of a couple being nostalgic with their youths in more ways than one.

Shelter Skelter:
Starring Joe Mantegna.
Not a bad story of about a nuclear fallout with a surprising twist at the end.

The Toys of Caliban:
This episode is about a retarded boys who can make images from pictures real with his mind. This has a sad ending. Personally I found this episode to be very stupid.

Featured briefly in this episode is Richard Biggs as a physician. He would later play another physician Dr Richard Franklin in Babylon 5.

A Game of Pool:
This is a partial remake of the episode of the same name in the original series.
It has been quite a long time since I have seen the original but this version, about a snooker player having a match with dead snooker legend, is quite good.
Only difference as far as I can remember is the ending.

Special Service:
Another episode written by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski and this is a very good early version of The Truman Show.

Ironically The Truman Show won a Hugo and one of those that it beaten was the final Babylon 5 episode Sleeping In Light written by Straczynski.

On the season 1 original series DVD release saw the episode Mr Denton on Doomsday:
The only familiar face that I see here is that of Martin Landau as a bad guy.

IMDb plot outline:
"The town drunk in the old-west faces his past when Fate lends a hand."

It's amazing that the town drunk who has been treated as a joke by the Landau character is transformed during the course of the episode. Personally I see it as the capability of anyone to improve upon one's self image no matter how bad it is to other people.

The Hitchhiker:
Season 1, Episode 16 of the original series.
Very creepy episode about the hitchhiker of the title but a shock comes towards the end about the lead character.

Leonardo DiCaprio is planning to make a Twilight Zone movie:
Leonardo DiCaprio eyes the 'Zone'
Leonardo DiCaprio eyes the 'Zone'
"Warners, Appian Way in early stages of 'Twilight' feature
By Steven Zeitchik
July 25, 2008

Could the eerie music of "The Twilight Zone" soon be playing again at the movies?

Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way are in the early stages of seeking material for a feature take on one or more episodes from the classic TV series.

The studio and production company are quietly putting out word to creators that they are looking for pitches and script ideas based on the show for feature development.

The companies are not seeking to remake an episodic movie, as the only big-screen version of the show did 25 years ago, but rather hope to build one continuing story line based on one or more episodes.

Warners is negotiating for rights to the Rod Serling-penned episodes, which is owned by the Serling estate. The episodes comprise the bulk of its 1959-64 run. The Serling shows include famous episodes such as "To Serve Man," about giant aliens who land on Earth to serve humans as food, and "Eye of the Beholder," about an inverted society where the attractive are considered ugly. About 155 episodes of the original series exist.

A feature adaptation could be a passion project of sorts for DiCaprio, who in interviews has cited "Twilight Zone" as his favorite show.

Thanks to syndication -- the show runs on Sci Fi Channel -- and many pop-culture homages, "Twilight Zone" continues to have a devoted, if somewhat older-skewing, fan base nearly five decades after it left the airwaves.

In 1983, Warners released a four-segment film based on the series. Each segment was helmed by a different director -- Joe Dante, John Landis, George Miller and Steven Spielberg -- with three of the segments remakes of classic episodes.

The movie drew modest boxoffice and was known mainly for a supposed curse after Vic Morrow and two child actors died during production.

The news of a possible Twilight Zone movie comes as "The X-Files," another film adaptation of a paranormal-themed television series, opens this weekend.

There have been other attempts at "Zone" updates over the years, particularly on television; CBS made a TV movie in 1994 based on several Serling episodes, and a short-lived show aired on UPN six years ago. On the film side, Summit is currently working on a film version of the Richard Matheson-penned "Countdown," about astronauts who land on a planet only to find a spacecraft that looks remarkably similar to their own."

Quite impressive collection of stories.

Also enjoyed the comic book that came with it as a PDF file.

Twenty Two:
Season 2, Episode 17 of the original series.
An excellent chiller involving a woman patient at a hospital being terrified of the room 22 and what a shocker that comes at the end.

Static:
Season 2, Episode 20 of the original series.
An old man, who rejects the modern entertainment of television, has found joy with an old radio.
The radio represents a much happier time for the man in this episode about what happens to one's life with regrets.
The ending is a nice surprise.

It's October 2 2009 the 50th anniversary of The Twilight Zone I celebrated it by finished seeing Prime Mover.

Prime Mover:
Season 2, Episode 21 of the original series.
Upon finding out that his friend (played by Buddy Ebsen) has special powers, a gambler takes him to Las Vegas in order to take advantage of those powers.
Buddy Ebsen portrayed sincerely his character and the gambler sure has a lesson here about gambling.
