• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Alrighty, Model is finito, Here's some pics and the Model itself, I would be grateful if you could Unweld/weld it and texture cordinate/hardpoint it for me maj, as i am completely lost as to how to do those things. There also appeers to be a couple welding Errors, one ners the back of the tail, and one under the nose, that i can't seem to fix.

Alright, that model up there iss obsolete, i refined the version a bit, got rid of the mesh errors and also added some details to the nacels. here's the new one.

idk, i have no idea how to unwrap and texture cordinate at all, so this projec is pretty stalled untill i can get
maj or someone elsee to help me.

I was browsing Hellkite's 2D section last night and this was one that caught my eye so I am glad to see you are bring her to life.

Thank you so much, it means a lot to have someone with your experince in modeling say that, (checks FO fourms, reads your thread, dies from inadiquicy). however it is still un- textured and finalised, could you help?

Okay, if you don't mind I will fix the minor errors with the mess and put a set of clothese on the ole girl. Just keep in mind, I find texturing the hardest part so it may take a while.

yeah, when i smoothed the mesh it created vallys in the center, unfourtineatly i never found the time to fix it :(

You're a maya user if I recall. Did you build this one in maya? If so then I have the probable cause of the mesh error, it used to happen to me all the time, you missed a step out of the joining process.
What I suspect you did was:
1. build the mesh
2. delete the faces on the one side
3. duplicate and invert the remaining mesh (or mirror it)
4. combined the two sides of the mesh into a single entity
5. smoothed the mesh

There's actually a step between 4 and 5. Once it is a single mesh you need to switch to vertices and highlight the vertices down the centreline. Whilst it looks like a single row its actually two occupying the same space (assuming the vertices run perfectly down the centreline). Once highlighted go to Edit Polygons > Merge Vertices, this will merge the vertices occupying the same space so that it's a seamless join. A good confirmation is to keep the polygon count up, if you've only selected the vertices on the centreline the number should be halved post merging. If it doesn't then you've either missed one or got extra vertices selected.

What cause the mesh error is that its trying to smooth to an edge, so it curves the edge down.

Of course if you didnt build in maya then disregard what I said :silence:

Anyway, good job on building and texturing.

And kjc, thx for the tips i actualy did know that but i find it easyer to duplicate and merge in milkshape, and this was the first model i had ever smothed to finesh, so that problem was unforseen on my part. :(
