Thanks!
Ya there are a few little things that I thought it needed to spice it up.
Here is a huge update on the texturing.
I think all I need now is the fine tune the texture color, add a bit of roughness to the hull to give it the "been in use" look and then paint in the glowy parts, like windows and other parts.

After double checking the size limits on the pics I realized I was posting tiny images before. Going with bigger images now to show details.
More comparison shots. I get to see the flaws in my work a bit more with these. Fortunately I was not going for 100% accurate duplication...hehe.

Nice rendition . Did you do the panels by hand? Must have taken ages.

That it did... With a few basic shapes I could cheat and use via PSP, I had to draw in most of that stuff. The turbine shapes were suprisingly far easier to draw than I had imagined. Once the circles were in place the rest was easy.

This is the most excited I have been and motivated to finish a 3D project in years!
Well here are a few more renders using "normal mapping" shader. When I get the roughness into the texture and add that to the normal map, the hull should look a lot better with the shader applied.

Using a very crude ship editor program I wrote in Darkbasic Pro.

A great deal of work has gone into this and it certainly shows, a great deal of detail on your part. Looks fantastic.

I have been noticing the main hull lines between hull plates is too thick. I will need to go back and make those thinner.

Hello:
Well, the great advantage of making your own models and textures is that you know exactly what and how to edit your model, I mean, it is faster than any other people might do as you don't need to figure out your own mappings' and mesh pieces, I guess, hehehe .

It is an amazing job, and I think that it will feel for you much better as soon as you get it the way you do want it to look like, so keep it up!

Thanks! I have been learning a few new texturing techniques also during this project. To be honest I was never really that great at texturing back in the day. There was a running joke on AFC of the "Straxus Filter" in that most my ships usually had wayyy to many bright colors in them.

I reworked the texture so the gap between the plates was smaller and been fine tuning the texture. Hope to have pics by tommorrow.

Indeed texturing is difficult. Are you going to add an aztec pattern to give the hull a construction feel to it? Also from the looks I would say you're using PSP (Paintshop Pro)?

Thanks guys!

Yep, still using the old PSP7... Though I occasionally use GIMP and Photoshop Elements. I am just more familiar with PSP.

I am thinking about drawing in more faint tiny panels instead of a blanket pattern. I was trying a few of the patterns I have and they don't seem to work to well for this ship design.
For the renders below I have a very subdued hull texture lightly applied but will be dropping it in favor of hand drawing the smaller patterns.

Indeed this is some very high quality work with a high attention to detail. Reason I asked about which program is due to having noticed that generally a texture make using photoshop isn't as edgy and rough as one in PSP.

Keep up the great work as this is progressing very well.

Great work mate, it's good to see you in full swing again. Been a long time since you built those awesome Goauld ships (that I still play with :D)
