N'mirx made Rear Admiral. He is now the owner of a Fleet Escort. The U.S.S. Bonaventure NX-91776 is ready for service.

I will try and get a better beauty shot later.

Blade, your handle is the same as your username when you log in, just add an @ sign. For example, my username is SciFiFan_78. My handle is @SciFiFan_78.

Isria and Aysara (Kat's engineer) made Captain yesterday. We both went with our respective vessels of that career. I got an Intrepid and decided to go stock, how could someone ruin such a beautiful ship by kitbashing it with uglies. I also noticed it's one of the designs in the game that isn't accurate which is a shame as it's one of my favourite if not my all time TNG era favourite design.

So the USS Icarus is born, I must say I really like this ship, I hated the Olympic, the Intrepid turns better has the additional aft weapon slot which is a godsend especially for a small science vessel plus the extra two science officer slots in the buff/tool panel really helps as well. :D

Ahhhhhh its @aclaydon

Are you sure? It tells me unknown user and it's a direct copy and paste. I even tired typing it in. It's not your login, it's as the others said.

As requested. More pictures of the Bonaventure. Still not the beauty shots I am really wanting.

I don't see anything wrong with those pics, SciFi. They are very nice indeed. She is very different from what we are used to seeing as a Starfleet vessel. I tried the other day to make a glamor shot for Relentless by turning the graphics all the way on. Even the settings my 'puter does not currently support. The screen went all choppy and laggy for a bit but I did eventually get the shot I wanted. Perhaps trying the same thing will bring out the unique styling of Bonaventure. She's too pretty not to at least try it.

Took some more shots of Bonaventure flying through the Badlands.

I turned my settings to max for these. Goes to show the limitations of my graphics. Not bad for a Laptop though. ;)

Now those are glamour shots! I made a mistake, though. I forgot to tell you about setting the Reflectivity to Low or Off. I had mine setting on high and the ship has the same purplish sort of specularity to it the Covenant ships in HALO have. The one time I have not cared for 'shiny', lol

Here is some shots of N'mirx's new ship. He loved the Bonaventure but, this fits his style better. What do I mean about that? You will find out later.

I still have not decide on a name yet. Suggestions welcomed.

This is a great topic because it helps me to decide which ship I should choose when I finally get back to Hungary and be able to play STO :D

Meh...*shrugs* Here is a little background on my character. He is a Chameloid. An alien race with the ability to shape shift. Captain Kirk and Doctor McCoy countered one on Rura Penthe. He is a mercenary conscripted by Starfleet Command and detached to MSFC to serve as a scout. His crew are made of people he has come to trust with his life. There are Starfleet officers that serve aboard his ship but they are to act on the Federation's behalf when needed.

I think the Galors(and the Vor'cha Refits) are the very best of the cruisers in STO. Recently played a PvP one on one against a fellow driving a Galor. I am used to having my own way while driving Fire Blade, my Vor'cha Refit. This guy pretty much schooled me all the way round. I am embarrassed to say I did not offer him a challenge. That Galor was well handled and very impressive. His critique of his own ship was, "It's typical of the Galors I've run across."

Names are powerful totems. The right name contains a magic which affects in a positive way everything about a ship. IMHO, the first impression is usually the correct one. I am pretty certain you had at least one idea cross your mind while you were outfitting the ship or training up the crew. I am also guessing you thought too long about it and talked yourself out it, lol. Because you thought it was silly or arrogant or pretentious or something like that. To borrow a phrase, "Trust your feelings."

I still can't thank you enough. As many times I have tried for the Bug, I did not expect the Galor.

I will admit, I have been impressed with the performance of the Galor. It is the perfect cruiser for a tactical officer. That said, when it comes to PvP, it is as much the player's skill as the ship. I have seen players do some amazing things with their ships. :Y

I think I have narrowed it down to two names.

USS Majestic (as suggested by Maj)

USS Pantheon (This based on the book Star Trek Pantheon given to me by my late father. A really good read if you have not read it.)

The first sounds good. :lol2:

Well as a lowly Lt I'm still flying round in an old Miranda class. That said, The Aurora is a good ship and has been able to handle almost everything thrown at her thus far (the exceptions being the 8472 battleship - because I didn't know how to fight effectively, the time I accidentally dropped out into a squadron of Romulan Warbirds (2x D'ds plus 6 escorts - took three respawns just to go to warp), and when tangling with the Borg on mass.)

Running from the Borg (I actually survived that engagement!)

However, as a Level 8 I'm hoping to be promoted soon. Any suggestions as to whether I should go cruiser or science?

Kjc733. I kept my Miranda, USS Biloxi. She's something of a glass cannon, as all of the escorts are. I went cruiser because I have an Engineer for a toon. And then I went to back to Relentless. Tried the Science vessel and I guess I did not outfit it correctly. Someone who has had better luck with one could probably tell you more. Then I went Klingon and the Vor'cha Refit cruiser is everything I ever wanted. Fire Blade is all that Relentless is...

...On steroids! Big honkin' overdose of 'em! Ya wanna dance, do ya? Well, then bring it! Oh yeah, baby!

Firstly what is your handle? :p Mine is @majesticmsfc if you want to add me, then I can add you to the MSFC fleet if you like.

Secondly I have found that you should go with the ships that match you career, cruiser for engineering officer, science vessels for science officer and escort for tactical officer. Then skill the character accordingly. Being it's your first character you'll probably end up skilling them wrong, I did with mine, but my second, which is a KDF Lethean I seemed to have done right and all my characters since then seem to be doing well so far. I have 10 characters.

You'll find that the Lieutenant stages are rather easy and one can get through them rather quick, it's once you hit Captain that it starts to get a bit challenging. I only play on the standard difficulty setting as do most people I play with.

Well, after a week of no internet at all (squirrels chewed through my phone line), I signed in to see where Captain Lana M'Giia was up to, checked my Duty Officers' completed assignments, and Boom! Rear Admiral Lana M'Giia. :-D

I'd totally second what Maj just said about choosing your ship to match your character. In my case, I chose the wrong character to start with, so although I'm a Science officer, my play style better matches a Tactical one. It took me until Captain level to realise that, so since then, I've been running Escorts and haven't looked back. My next Fed character will probably be a Tactical one, and the Klink character I just started is Tactical too. I guess I just liked the superiority of the feeling of "I'm a Scientist, not a Fighter", heh.

So, my latest choice, for USS Meridian, a Prometheus-Discovery mix (Discovery saucer, Prometheus everything-else). Took her home to Andoria for the official photoshoot.

(PS: For taking screenshots, how do you get rid of the GUI? I scaled mine down to 50% size to get these, but is there a way of just hiding it completely?)

You can press ALT-F12 to turn the GUI on and off. I press PRNTSCRN to take pics and the GUI has not appeared. The pics taken this way can be found in C:/Program Files (x86)/Cryptic Studios/Star Trek Online/Live/screenshots

Just press PRTSCN and go into the screenshots folder, it automatically removes the GUI for me. Oh and congrats on the promotion Atlantis. Soon you'll be able to do STF's to get the awesome gear.

I have several science and Engineering characters with a couple of Tactical ones thrown in. My favourite is the engineering class, though I love the Sabre and Defiant escorts, I feel the Prometheus and Akira and very disappointing, I'd personally prefer to run the earlier escorts to those. I also found the Cheyenne disappointing for a cruiser, and not a fan of the Olympic science vessel, though it's not as bad in my opinion as the aforementioned vessels.

On the Klingon side I love the Bird of Prey's, yes they are weak but if you run the ship on attack power and continually rotate your shields and use a tactical officer set up right for damage only with few skills on the defence side she can dish out a heap of damage very quickly. Run her with a engineer player with a Battlecruiser who can tank for you and you'll have one outstanding team in space.

Also make sure you run at least two tactical bridge officers in the higher of the two universal slots and have your engineer and science officers with science team, emergency power to shield and engineering team and you'll find it works very well.

Well that's my to bobs.

Well I suddenly got wacked with that extra half bar, so I'm now a LtCdr. WHilst I liked the base specs of the science vessel, I really couldn't say no to a Constitution class. I splashed out on a Mk4 RCS console which means that she out turns the Aurora (which was my biggest concern on the cruisers). Unfortunately I'm shy one engineering officer as I already have four bridge officers and I don't particularly want to dismiss my second tactical officer (he's great on the ground).

Anyway, my handle is (I think) @carpenter733. My current character is Lt Cdr James Carter, and my shiny new connie is the USS Daring (unless of course I upgrade the Aurora to sucker people into thinking I'm an easy target :D )

Friend request sent.

I wish you had the ability, once reaching VA, to upgrade an old class, like a miranda, with the full specs of say a fleet escort. That would be awesome, because I would probably fly a miranda or defiant(the defiant is already available like that through the C store though...)
