• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Found out about the animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The Clone Wars which is scheduled for release here in Australia on August 14 leads into the animated series of the same name.

The title is confusing considering that there was an earlier series some years also called Clone Wars (but without the "The" in the title) in between the releases of Episodes 2 and 3.

Contains spoilers

just saw the film.

To put it simply unless you are under 12 you wont enjoy it very much. It was apparently supossed to be a TV series instead of a film. It should have been a TV series. It would have been ok if it was obviously just for children but the advertising did sugest all would enjoy it.
I "had a bad feeling about it" when as it began we wernt greeted by the familiar John Williams score and floating text but an anoing voice informing me that the inoccent were in trouble as a result of the jedi being busy fighting a war, whilst showing us that the "inoccent" apparently includes Jabba the Hutt.
Aside for a number of situations where jedi apparently lost the ability to sence Dooku or Asajj standing 10 metres away the plot was fairky sound apart from the fact that Dooku's "plan" was incredibly secuatus and required jabba to kill anakin then the jedi to kill jabba (why not just kill jabba himself and install his apparently gay hutt friend like he planned, it would have made a lot shorter film)

Over all the film was poor which is even worse concidering it wasstar wars. I wish Lucas would stop milking the money cow and either actualy make something worth seeing or do something else.

Just got back from seeing part of it myself. I'm going to go back and finish watching it tomorrow and then I'll have an opinion.

Normally, I'm not one to leave during a movie, but I was surrounded by misbehaving children, cell-phone addicted teenagers, and talkative adults so I promptly walked out thirty minutes in and got my money back.

Tomorrow, I'll be heading to the Drive-In and I'll watch it there from the comfort of my truck.

This was barely OK. It was good in some places not good in others.

Ben McEachen in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph gave the film three stars with the headline, "This really is a poor clone of the originals".

In his opening paragraph he wrote:
"Something's up when a new Star Wars movie isn't being screamed from every television ad break and magazine front page."

My thoughts exactly. The hype for this film has virtually been non-existent. Also its release was made during the Olympics when most people's attention would be on that than this film.

To Australian viewers:
A few nights ago saw on 10 Introducing Star Wars: The Clone Wars hosted by Angela Bishop about the history behind the project.

This special was better viewing than the movie itself.

To Australian viewers:
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is currently the only sci fi show that is on free to air (non-HD) TV. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is probably not in danger of being dumped from its schedule (notwithstanding sport events) given its timeslot of Saturdays 12pm. Nevertheless it is very enjoyable viewing for Saturday afternoons.

Rookies:
Season 1, Episode 5.
Quite an enjoyable episode in which a bunch of rookies defend a base against a Droid attack.
Quite like the euphermism of the term "Shinies" to describe anyone who is new.

To Australian viewers:
In last night's Today Tonight it included a report about toys as Christmas presents and it included Star Wars toys with the reporter saying that they are popular again due to The Clone Wars movie. She however made no mention of the animated TV series itself. After all the purpose of the movie was to serve as a pilot for the series.

This is probably because Today Tonight is a 7 show while The Clone Wars series is shown on 10. 7 probably didn't want to promote a show that is being shown on a rival channel.
