I've been looking around various sites at mods for EAW and not even really sure what I want, but can anyone recommend any favs? I have some graphical update mods for particle/explosion effects and some unit graphic updates, but that's about it so far.

I have downloaded my fair share of them, Republic at War is good for Clone Wars action, Pegasus Chronicles for Stargate, Thrawns Revenge is another good one it is set after the original trilogy and Old Republic at War is good for the Revan KOTOR era.

They can all be found on Moddb, best place to find mods these days thanks to the downhill side of Filefront.

Majestic is spot on with his suggestion. I won't make any suggestions though as I've made a large scale mod or two for the game and I would be biased. Unfortunately though, there are a few mods that were in the works but never finished or deleted due to NBC issuing a C&D order for all BSG related mods.

Shame about those Battlestar mods. Didn't the same thing happen with the Halo ones?

I second Majestic's suggestion of Pegasus Chronicles. There's another good one, I believe called Ultimate Corruption that I enjoyed as well. I'll have to check on that name methinks. I just remember it had the Trade Federation Battleship, and I flipping loved it...

Well at when the Halo mods were taken down a handful went quiet but have re-surfaced. As for the BSG ones. Well lets just say that the full TC that was planned won't even be started, but the cross-over mod was done. Thats the good thing about being the main dev. You get to keep the original source mod :p

@MAP: I went browsing your name over at BC Files and looked up your work and found your EAW mods, but haven't downloaded any yet. I discovered I can't even play EAW now. I use windows Vista X64 and last time I played I had 2gb ram. I have since upgraded to 5gb, but now get an exception when launching the game. I've been googling fixes, but nothing works so far.

Why not suggest your own stuff? You tend to make quality mods.

I wasn't aware that any Halo mods other than Halogen were given a C&D, and that one was because they were developing Halo Wars.

Try this Google search. It looks like EAW is one of the old games that doesn't work with more than a certain amount of RAM. Morrowind is another. Skimming through the first page of results, it looks like there are fixes for EAW.

Thanks for the info Cabal. I've looked at all of those threads and have installed the LucasArts 2gb patch fix and still nothing. I'm still checking around for anything else that might work as I'm not going to remove ram just to play one game.

Surely others with an x64 OS and 2+gb of ram has gotten this to work? I could sure use an easy button right about now. :lol2:

There is also Covenant at War if you're into the Halo series. Though like most if not all of these mods you need the Forces of Corruption expansion to play them. Very few mods are build on the original game.

Again best place to find mods id Moddb.

I just re-installed the full thing last night (along with Forces of Corruption), along with The Pegasus Chronicles. Ah, how I love the Daedalus-class...

Now, on to Moddb to find some more mods. Fun stuff. :)

Sounds like at one point we should try and get a EAW game together for those of us on MSFC who play it. :D

Haha, I'd definitely be up for that. Do you prefer EaW or FoC more?

I usually play FOC, however we could also play a mod or something as the base game was a little unbalanced main the Zhan Consortium being a bit overpowered compared to the Imperials and Rebels.

Yeah, the Zhan guys were ridiculous to play against in Galactic Conquest. What mod would you recommend playing? I only have Pegasus Chronicles installed right now.

I still have to wait until I can figure out what is slowing down my PC. I tried EAW just now and the PC just lagged so much that I really couldn't play it. I hate not having the money to upgrade and being 2 years overdue.

That does sound fun though I don't have FoC at this time. I also don't know if I'm able to play multi with what I had to do to get my game working. I don't know if it poses an issue or not?

How does it work? Is it just two people per game or 3? I've only ever done multi with FPS games

Try IOBit Advanced System Clean. The free version is pretty good, and it cleaned my computer up fine. Also has one of the best free driver update programs that I've used in a long while.

To be honest, I haven't played EaW or FoC online since...probably 2007? So my memory is a tad hazy there. I know you can do at least three players online though.

As for what measures you had to take to get your game playable (No-CD patch I'm guessing?), that would likely interfere. It's pesky like that.

Thanks I'll give it a shot, I was planning on reformatting next weekend so if it does screw anything up on c drive it wouldn't be a great loss.

What OS are you running by the way?

Also, what's a decent Mod Manager for EaW/FoC? I had a few years ago, but it was crash-prone.

Not to derail my own thread, but do you all reformat as a general practice on any kind of time frame? I never have only because I run one hard drive. I've been getting everything I want to save on thumb drives so have been considering it just to wipe everything and start fresh.

Rifraf. As a matter of course and considering what so called experts say, they suggest a format every 4 weeks or so. However. I say, it depends entirely on how much usage your pc gets and what you use it for. I tend to do a clean reformat and complete re-install once every 3 to 6 months, and I tend to have my pc on for a large majority of the day. It is used for everything from surfing the net to downloading to video creation/conversion so theres a significant usage level involved.

Zelph. Mod managers aren't really needed except for large scale mods, which nearly always have a .BAT file included. Its easy enough to run the game from one of those.

...I don't think I've actually ever reformatted my computer. I'll refresh it occasionally, which is a Window 8 feature, I don't remember it in Windows 7 or previous editions. Uninstalls all but the basic programs but preserves your other files.

I used to re-install on a fairy regular basis but in the last year or two I haven't really done it. The sad fact is my PC is old, been used way too much and is probably going to eventually fail in some form or another. I am find of hoping if it does, it's something easily fixable and cheap not not a motherboard or CPU.
